If you're behind on your house payments and don't make enough money to afford your payments, then they will lend you the money. I'm sick of being penalized for playing by the rules.

I really should delete my post on that. We did qualifiy for a lower rate, but it was so close to what we already had that it made better sense to keep what we have with our loan as it stands. We did not qualify for the good nice new lower rate because we were told we weren't in distress and were able to pay our bills on time, etc. Makes no sense to me. It's like rewarding the irresponsible and penalizing the ones that do what they should.

To be honest with you, growing up I moved around A LOT, and we never owned a house, so I didn't have a good example. I've had to learn by experience as I've gone. My husband and I live below our means, so that we own our house and it doesn't own us. My husband works in law enforcement, and anyone familiar with that will know we're sure not getting rich. This is BS. My husband and I checked into refinancing our home, but we didn't qualify for the lower rates because we pay our bills on time and have good credit. If you're behind on your house payments and don't make enough money to afford your payments, then they will lend you the money. I'm sick of being penalized for playing by the rules.

What's so pathetic is that 1 in 10 houses sit empty from all the foreclosures. Prices are lower than ever on homes, and yet no one can seem to qualify for the loans. Wells Fargo holds our mortgage and we wanted to refinance for 15 years...I guess they don't want to lose that extra interest we have to pay on a 30 yr. Sorry you've experienced this too. It's wrong, wrong, wrong!

I really should delete my post on that. We did qualifiy for a lower rate, but it was so close to what we already had that it made better sense to keep what we have with our loan as it stands. We did not qualify for the good nice new lower rate because we were told we weren't in distress and were able to pay our bills on time, etc. Makes no sense to me. It's like rewarding the irresponsible and penalizing the ones that do what they should.

2) Yes, Economists have been saying the housing market was going to pull us out of this recession since 2001.

All three of those are very probable outcomes.
Everything right now is up in the air. Anything can happen.
If things go bad, there is probably going to be a military dictatorship to ensure law and order. If that happens, I would be glad to leave as a refugee to Canada, mexico, or Cuba.
