Shure Greg has his style of playing and we can hear it all the time when he uploads a video. But the guitars doesn´t sound the same. Can anybody say a Strat sound the same as a Les Paul? Or a PRS sound the same as a Telecaster? Of course not. The equipment is most of the time is the same (amp, effects, etc), but the difference between the guitars does exist.
Ah, one more question: What is your favorite arch-top(?) style guitar? For Example, if you had to choose between a Sheraton, Dot, Casino, Swingster, etc. which would you pick?
@TheGalwayFarmer every single small detail is identical to my 1998 sheraton, so i'd say it's a later '90s one. my friend has an earlier '90s one which has a different "E" logo on the pickguard, and the epiphone logo on the headstock is more like the ones they use on SGs and les pauls nowadays. but i think it has more to do with the factory it would've been made in than the year - they were made in a bunch of different factories, each of which did things slightly differently.
Nice tone...nice vibe....I have a Sheraton as well...very nice guitar at the pricepoint. I love the teddy bear holding the amp mic...don't have one of those.
Greg, that looks like a Korean model from the Samick factory with that fat bridge. If you have the serial number guitardaterproject. org will tell you.
Hab die "gleiche" in normalem Sunburst, eine verdammt unterschätzte Gitarre auch wenn die Dimensionen des Halses mir als Tele und Strat Spieler ind Kombination mit 10er Saiten nicht gefallen.
do you know the finish on this guitar i am thinking of getting one but i want this finish and people are telling me this is a tobacco finish instead of a vintage sunburst
@ele523 This is what you call a black cherry burst. Cherry center, black edge. Ibaneze does a hollow body with the same finish and I recently refinished my Epiphone Dot in it.
I think Greg sounds like Greg, the guitars sounds slightly different one from other. You can perceive the differences between guitars by listening attentively to these Greg`s clean solos.
@JoePassa I agree, my comment was supposed to be a kind of complement, as in that he has a defined sound that we can hear no matter what gear he's using.
@ubad00d The great thing about Gregg´s channel is that you can compare the sound of different guitars with the same amp, effects and style. So you can realize what the guitar adds to this equation. I think is really interesting.
@JoePassa that's true and I like that! However, I like to hear guitars played in different styles. For instance, it would be nice if we could hear some crunch sounds, blues, jazz, high gain...
@GregsGuitars you can hear and notice de difference cause its you the one whose playing the instrument and you can feel any changes by the vibrations going on in the strings, you feel and hear the difference, even if its just slight :)
@ubad00d You're not listening closely enough. The guitars each sound different, and his style is different on different songs that he's playing. But the same guitar player who knows how to play will usually sound similar, Just in case you didn't notice.....that's a good thing.
@ubad00d Amps make up the majority of the tone, and he plays his own style, but I would like just some basic open clean chords in order to hear the tone, because all guitars pretty much can get the same distortion tones, but the they have different cleans.
I think it's made in Korea...
