  • That dog is more intelligent than the shooter and the guy manning the choppa.

Btw, I watched the Prequel this wekeend and I loved how the two parts connect with each other.

  • 30 people got killed by The Thing.

  • I am talking about the new version coming out this year

  • @wolfeyez you little bum!

  • Why do directors make shitty remakes

  • I've seen just about all of John Carpenter's films and this is my favorite and his best, in my opinion. Very scary stuff!

  • This is the Carpenter masterpiece. One of the finest crafted sci-fi horror classics that outdid the original. The whole storyline is a metaphor for the decline of our civilization.

  • @mhintrepid what do u mean by that ?

  • The coolest and scariest thing ( I thought ) in the prequel was they showed you how the two headed deformed body came about. I shit my pants at the theatre when that happened. LMAO

  • @IInContext yes the 2011 The Thing is the prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing. Actually you could play this one right after the prequel and it would flow right together.

  • so was the 2011 version BEFORE the 1982 version?

    Mega confused right now haha

  • WOW CGI this, CGI That, these days they could say it was a costume and you couldn't tell the difference but yet as soon as someone hears CGI, I hate it, it looks bad and so unreal and what happened to makeup artists, blah blah blah. When done right there is nothing wrong with CGI and gives producers and directors more options so I am happy it is here. Blah Blah Blah, no one says Why they don't like it, just because they think it sucks for their own personal reasons and not any actual facts!W/E

  • @bigballa6336 "just because they think it sucks for their own personal reasons and not any actual facts!W/E"

There is nothing factual about opinions on CGI, either you like the look, or you don't. I just happen to think that, if they were going to do a prequel to my favorite movie, they should've stuck to what made the first one very convincing, very well done practical effects. As a Prequel to this film, The Thing 2011 kinda sucked, but as a movie alone, it was alright however.

  • @bigballa6336 "t, these days they could say it was a costume and you couldn't tell the difference but yet as soon as someone hears CGI"

In some cases that is true, especially darker scenes, (where CGI works the best) however anything else, I can still easily tell the difference.

  • The prequel has a different feel to John Carpenter's classic. It's more about shock burst-outs and a faster pace. If you watch the prequel and the 1982 movie back-to-back it really works except for some minor continuity inconsistancies.

  • Yes we know this is a masterpiece, but John would've used CGI for the creature effects had the tools been available in 1982, and that's a fact. In fact, all the main blockbusters of the 80s would have; the last 2 Star Wars, Ghostbusters, the Back To the Future trilogy, ET etc...

  • @56postoffice yep and they would have made a bloody mess.... considering even with state of the art techonology each time CGI is used for something living they botch it up: star wars, indy 4 (freaking lucasart ) etc... It's all about illusion and CGI breaks the illusion every time so I hate it. Give me frank oz and its puppets any time....

  • ya did what ya had to do Gar

  • The next time you listen to someone argue that there's no reason for a hunter to have a machine gun, show them the opening sequence of this movie. Then they'll say, "I'm sorry. I didn't know. I just...didn't know."

  • thumbs up if just watched the prequel, then came here to resume the story. then plan to play the game afterwards to see what happens 20 year's later.

  • 29 people who disliked this video are animal rights morons who need to get replicated by the Thing.

  • if they had just let the norwegian shoot the dog rather than shoot him in the fucking head, none of this shit would have happened. Dumbass scientists.

  • @brainwasher9876 Of course, but they didn't know that. If you were in that situation, you'd also just think that he's a crazy man with a rifle

  • @AliceNchainz011 What are the odds of two completely insane people getting on a helicopter in the middle of antartica right before the onset of winter hunting a dog they were obviously very worried about? The british scientists' first rational reaction should have been to believe the humans before the dog and gotten away from it.

  • @mrzack888 Hell yeah they need to, i just got done watching the 2011 prequel and the block of ice that the thing was incased in, you find in the game.

  • Just a note that the 2011 version isn't a remake, its a prequel. An awesome fucking prequel that did the first movie justice, nothing to worry about

  • 4 the people who don't know this this thing happened after the new one bcuz the new one ends w/ lars chasing after the dog in a russian helicopter and this one starts w/ lars chasing after the dog in the helicopter

  • The Thing and Holloween are two of the best horror movies of all time and are masterpieces, no shock they were both directed by the best horror director of all time.

  • whne comes out the new version in dvd

  • Why bother renting it or buying the movie when I can watch it for free on stealtube?

I hope the SOPA gets reintroduced and passes again. I Love big brother corporate government.

  • @mrzack888 Not sure if retarded or trolling

  • One of the most perfect soundtracks for a movie ever made!!! Incredible!! <3

  • one of the best movies ever made. the video game needs to be redone.

  • A friend of mine had this super mean husky, and i would always tell him you should burn some of his blood, see if it jumps at ya...

  • man he is a bad shot

  • Man, it bugs me SO much to see comments saying:

"ZOMG, WHY'S HE SHOOTING AT THE DOG?"

"THAT MEANIE! HE'S SHOOTING AT A DOG! :("

"HE DESERVED TO DIE FOR SHOOTING AT A DOG. >:("

If only people could just WATCH the movie, THEN comment on this scene, before they make wild assumptions 10 minutes into the damn movie.

  • just saw the prequel 5 minutes ago. the begining makes sense to me now

  • 08:02 What kind of dialect is that? It sure as hell doesn't sound like the Norwegian I know.

  • @ 8:35 the norge, fucks the snow LMFAO!

  • Great movie! thanx for uploading!

  • Poor Dog It's so beautiful Why would anyone want to kill it??

  • @SallyNightmare18 if your talking about the sniper scene it didnt died they put it to sleep so they could take it and trust me it aint a normal dog

  • @SallyNightmare18

    That's no dog...

  • @SallyNightmare18 because it's a fuckin alien

  • @SallyNightmare18 You obviously aren't watching this movie close enough or you are just plain stupid! The dog needed to be killed since it was an alien! DUR DUR!!!!!

  • need to watch again

  • i remembered watching this on TV, then i just finished watching the 2011 film and i just HAD to search this up to connect them together.

  • iv seen a parody trailer its called the ditto

  • What a clumsy shooter...

  • if u want to get right to the movie skip to 1:50

  • @MLGTroy1 thanks alot

  • @raulprima no problem just tell everyone to subscribe to me and look at my vids ok thanks

  • @MLGTroy1 infidel!!!! :D

  • The prequel cleaned all this up for me. c:

  • No idea why im watching this now, but i think im going to watch it all. I own this movie on blu ray......fucking Youtube.

  • Damn. If there is something this movie taught me is that if a norwegian guy is chasing and shooting a husky, you should be aware of alien infestation.

Wonder why was it not obvious to the american group...

  • @elegemvan1 This world..... This world....

  • I fucking love this movie. if you watch around @ 9:05 people are fucking falling all over the place, hahahaa. It happens again when Bennings is changing and they all run after him when he runs outside to burn him. Funny shit

  • Copyright theft, people. Go buy the £3 DVD rather than watch a postage stamp sized mash up in ten parts.

  • @dangale You were watching it, too, dipshit!

  • I saw Wilford Brimley on LLS with Craig Ferguson, and I thought "wait a minute - he looks familiar". Took me a while to access that particular memory in my brain.

It's been a while since I saw this movie.

Thanks for the upload. Much appreciated.

  • I watched the 2011 version and although it was not as good as the original it was still very good, i think a lot of people say its not good because they think its the fashionable think to say about any remake, just a bunch of armchair critics that cant even critique properly any way because they cant explain what they dont like about the 2011 version so just regurgitate the same old shit about not making a remake or sequels or prequels to a classic me personally i liked both of them.

  • @Robodisco What I didn't like about the prequel is that the Thing (which we know for sure is highly intelligent) acts like a moron, which it doesn't do in the original. I also found the teams actions kinda odd, especially in comparison to the original, but sadly I can't remember any details about their behaviour, just the Thing's.

  • @Robodisco I'm happy someone is thinking the same way as me

The prequel wasn't a bad idea

You know... A little bit more effects but

After i watched the movie now i know why they are trying to kill that husky at the beginning

And personally i liked the 2011 version

And most remakes are really BAD but this wasn't even a remake... people need to do a little research before talking

  • @Robodisco I enojyed it. One of the best remakes out there. The only thing that I didn't like was the choise of actors, The girl and her friend that went there together shouldn't be in this movie. The girl is a typical actor who can show emotions but not really anymore, no depth to it, a typical school actor. Same for the guy. The others were perfect.

  • @Robodisco

Its sad... I can't trust reviewers nowadays because they think is fashion to say that is bad.

All I wanna know if it is good or bad with the concrete arguments for each statement.

  • @Robodisco I just don't see the point in remaking perfection. And there is no story possible in a prequel to the thing : for the actual movie "the thing" to be possible we know all the norvegians died , we know the thing survived and considering this we don't care much about the process either because we know it's going to be about survival and paranioa....

  • @georgetapadbol Thanks For the obvious, just because we knew what happened doesn't mean we don't want to see it. The prequel was good and it was cool watching it morph bodies, it looked good and the only people who don't think so were already saying this movie sucked BEFORE it came out. Always keep an open mind my friend. Makes life more enjoyable.

  • @georgetapadbol I will give the actors were much better in this movie and I have to say acting is not as good as some older movies but comes with the times.

  • @Robodisco the new one is not a remake, it's a prequel :) so not much room for criticism from this point of view :) If you wait for the credits you will see it ends with the helicopter chasing the dog. :)

  • @Robodisco There was no way that was a prequel. That movie was very inconsistent, in so many obvious ways. CGI, just doesn't cut it for me.

  • @Responsetoignorant the 2011 was a prequal

  • @85xorn Tried to be a prequel, but was very inconsistent.

  • @Robodisco the 2011 ine is a prequal , hence the norigan team

  • WTF is wrong with the VOICE? Sound like little bitches on the movie!

  • @anthonywoodruff2007 "First goddamn week of winter" PMSL

  • where can i download "chess wizard" ? xD It will works on Android??

  • Deleted scene

    /watch?v=kffacxfA7G4&ob=av2e

  • The original was better.

  • this is the end of the "The Thing" 2011. If you like this movie , check the 2011 . Just love it!

  • The scariest movie of all time. Made me cry. I shit you not.

  • @NamedAndUnnamedName Oh my god, you cried? LOL. What part did you cry on? This shit is scary as fuck though, no lie.

  • @rupefan FUCKING THING KILLING THE DOGS. HUMAN DEATHS DON'T BOTHER ME. YOU CAN'T FUCKING KILL THE DOGS!!!

  • @NamedAndUnnamedName I KNOW! I didn't give a shit about the humans. But the DOG??! No... I just.. No.

  • @rupefan if you get some fked up speakers so that everyone sounds like fking chipmunks, it's actually funny.

  • @sikkinyx58 Really? Awesome. But I don't have any fucked up speakers.. LOL. So I'll never knooow.

  • Actually I saw this when I was a child and I was somehow blown away by it.This is actually my favorite movie and I own it. :)

  • Part 10 is not avaliable. Don't bother watching.

  • I read the scrypt for this movie- Appearently, MacReady, one of my all time favorite characters, played with inflatable mannequin while watching Norwegian home video! How fu... was that? What were you thinking Bill Lancaster?

  • Where is part 2 I can't find it how am I supost to watch it without part 2

  • its cold out side and that old man broke the window ...???

  • After watching the new one everything finally makes sense and fall into place :)

  • one of my fav movies ever.

  • It is not a normal dog , its 'The Thing . '

  • Yes, why did he shoot at the dog? Carpenter knew well how to keep the audience entangled.

  • WHY THE HELL DID HE SHOOT AT THE DOG

  • @DarkDreamer126

    That's no dog...

  • G3SG1 had to say it...great movie anyway.

  • XD BOOM headshot serves the asshole right

  • wat an asshole who would shoot at a dog wtf man...atleast hes a bad shot XD

  • @Mattz511 thats not a dog...

  • @Mattz511 maybe because it was a alien? sigh

  • @Mattz511

    That's no dog...

  • He does know there is a scope on that gun, right?

  • i seen this when i was 13 (1998) and i was shit scared but thought it was RADICAL

  • quite the boring movie!!!

  • I just though of something, what is the point of trying to live in Antarctica, I don't see why to try and camp down there.

  • John Carpenter is he the same one that did Halloween.

  • it's great if you watch the prequel first and then this

  • @xsidman05 That's what I'm doing now.

  • Don't thumb me or anything...Just take a moment and relax and think about how cool you are for knowing about this movie before mostly everyone else apparently.

    This comment is now diamonds.

  • @DirtyDishSoap i'm a little confused

  • thumbs up if your watching this because you just saw the new 2011 version

  • @rockstarrel theres a 2011 version o.O

  • @Mattz511

The 2011 version sucks. Too bad...

  • @Mattz511 yeah, I think It looks alright

  • i watched the new one, to anyone who doesn't know the newer one is base before this.

  • the two movies just join themselves quite perfectly, in the ending2011/ begining 1982 - the scenes are the same!!! THATS BLOODY NICE!!

  • @redbipolar I think they are giving the 2011 version too little credit, personally I thought it was going to suck, as remakes or relaunches do, but it was quite decent. As you said, the continuity is quite remarkable as well, including the details about the Norwegian base (the ice block with center carved in, the alien remains with two merged faces to name a few)

  • @kkksskkk

Yeah, but there's was too little attention paid to the storyline. So we got the details running through to the first film, but the story sucked. Also, it wasn't as suspenseful. Example: Why would the main actress follow someone whom could be the thing into a storage room alone? It wasn't realistic. Too many special effects, and not enough paid to the plot, and how to develop the story to maximize its scare factor.

  • @Nonpeon Indeed...she knew all the way that he was an alien, yet she chose not to do anything about it and then kill him in the end in a very suspenseful way? Yeah right...Also, there was footage of the Norwegians blowing up the alien spacecraft using thermite..what happened to that scene then? why are directors like little kids, full of inconsistency?

  • @panostsak

    Good questions... :-)

  • @panostsak why people don't pay attention and then come raging about the movie? In the last scene before bothe leave the vehicle the camera show the earing on the left ear of him, when they come back running, because everything was exploding and the adrenaline rushing that she notices that he didn't had the earing anymore, so he was copied when was inside the ship.

  • @Shaidon7 She specificaly said that she knew he wasn't human ever since he returned to the base (after the helicopter crash).

  • @panostsak You heard wrong, go watch the movie again. When they are back to the vehicle, and she is about to enter, she stop when noticed that his left ear lack the earing, and then say that will put the part of flamethrower in the back (what was probably just to give time to set it up). She said "You know, I knew you are human... when you showed back at base?" "no.." "your earing" and than he grab the wrong ear.

  • @Shaidon7 Sorry, but I can't understand what you are saying...I think I will trust my ears.

  • @panostsak what you didn't understood? You should watch the movie again and pay attention in both scenes when they are inside the vehicle close the spacecraft.

  • @Nonpeon realistic? Have you being in the same situation? Do you think that you could have a logic though and don't make any mistakes if you were in a situation that you never was or heard about it?

  • @Shaidon7

    HuH??

  • @Shaidon7 what? lol

  • @sikkinyx58 same thing that I said when I saw Nonpeon comments about realism of the movie.

  • @Shaidon7 whachu talkin bout willis? PMSL!

  • @redbipolar

Yes I thought they did a good job tying the two together.

  • brave and steadfast Lars :(...pity he was the only one from "Norway Team" that didn't know so much english

  • The Husky is a beautiful dog.

  • It seems as if he was absorbed by the thing...

  • I was watching this at home the other day and noticed Childs hand during the scene when Blair is trashing the COMM room. If you look closely his hand is deformed or not fully formed. He also seems to hide it intentionally, its the part when childs is behind McReady. Pretty wild, never caught this before....

  • @ZXCX2 Actually it's because Keith David broke his hand in a car accident before. He wore a cast but had to hide it through the entire film.

  • damn they killed Lars.

  • Comment removed

  • this was a great movie

  • As a guy who's flown helicopters I'm a little confused why they would keep rushing past the 'dog' instead of staying right above it the whole time!??

  • @crazyfool333 yeah i´ve notice that too the first time i saw this movie. I tought it was because of the rarefaction of the air so they had to keep a high speed.

  • Ennio Morricone created atmosphere of this movie.

  • 8:37 when shit happens.

  • this reminds me of tentecale porn O_o

  • 2011 Sucked compared to this

  • So sad to read that most of the watchers even don't know the Thing from 1982 and they were able to know about this movie after watching the Thing 2011.

  • @LigtvTR what about the thing from 1951?

  • @LigtvTR I have seen all three, personally I think this is the best.

  • This is one of the scariest films ever. I prefer this movie over all the horror movies today anyday!

  • the scene at the beginning with the space ship heading toward earth reminded me on Predator 1

  • даже в этом фильме американцы не разобравшись быстрей застрелить норвежца ))

  • Simply one of the greatest horror films ever made. The effects today paled in comparison as of the 80's.

  • I can`t watch the Thing 2011. I was waiting until I had enough time this week and suddenly NO movie theatres has The Thing on any more. WTF! It was only on for a week! Ok so it`s Christmas time and people don`t want to watch some horrific monster eating them, but I thought it would be on longer.

Now i`m gonna have to wait for the DVD release... :(

  • beautiful dog

  • the thing 200011 good or shit

  • this is the 3rd movie im watching off youtube ....parts......i hate parts...

  • how the hell did Lars survive? i didn'[t understand that.

Lars was my favourite in the thing (2011) always carrying a flamethrower or grenades

  • thumbs up if you went to full screen then was like hell no and went back to main

  • The shooter is not retarded!! Dont you see the Dog is The Thing! Its shapeshifter! (i think) By the way if you speak norwegian like me you would unerstand what the "retard"" guy was saying.

  • @HurinsChannel

    care 2 translate? lol

  • great horror film, why are the modern sequels always average compaired to the originals

  • That shooter from the helicopter is a retard

  • thumbs up for Lars (Y) yeah, I'm from Norway

  • Watched a few scenes from this film a while ago. Looks brilliant :)

  • A proper horror film. Billions of teenagers who think 'Saw' is a horror movie might do well to watch this classic

  • @myleftearful Oh, fuck you! Why are there so many pretentious movie snobs on here that think every modern horror movie is bad? I'm a teenager, and yes, I think 'Saw' is a great movie. It's an original and clever crime/horror/thriller that is far from just blood and guts. Some of the sequels weren't great, but they are still a hell of a lot better than half the overrated garbage from the 70's/80's.

  • @MEareCAT

i agree, but their IS something about the classic horror movies that have something extra 2 it..maybe it was because back then it was the rise of horror movies, in which people loved them more than they do now just because it was something new..now its just the same thing..with alot more sex involved lol

  • @MEareCAT I agree, the first Saw is pretty decent, it's just everything after that is pure garbage. Most classic horror films have better scores and may be scarier, but they also have their flaws as well.

  • 26 people are The Thing. o3o

  • NOOOOOOOO !!!! Lars is dead, I Like Him :((

  • Thumb up if you are watching this from the beginning for the first time.

  • The only thing that tees me off a bit is that my husband didn't understand where the prequel was heading. I tried to explain to him that this is how the original began and all he could say was, "Well...uhhh, I like never caught it from the beginning and stuff...uhhhhh....I always caught it somewhere in the middle". WHAT KIND OF UNDERPRIVILEGED LIFE have you been leading?! And he's a nerd too!!! WTF? Luckily for him, his mother appreciated the continuity. We're girl nerds like that. ;)

  • The dog handler must have been awesome. I LOVE the way they make the Husky or whatever to appear so intelligent in the beginning. How he pauses, stops, looks back, and basically LURES the chopper to the American base. Nice. :)

  • i LOVE THE THING 1982&1950 BUT THE FIRTS ON SUCKS.
