@MasterNiva Nobody was killed because of plane crash.Two gunners and radio operator were already dead - killed by German Me 109 pilots.

I would build a large saltwater tank then raise this b-17 and display it inside the large saltwater filed tank as if it was in the same enviroment it`s in now.

The Smithsonian would be a good place for it.

Did the B-17 aircraft take off from Calvi airport, or did it take off from Bastia or Ajaccio and just crashed at Calvi?

During WW II B-17 was attacked by german Me-109 and after being hit headed directly to Calvi. Plane wasn't able to reach air strip and landed on water in from of citadel. Remaining crew was successfully rescued.

Tail section is missing - it broke off when plane hit the water.

It is shallow because it is not deep ;-)

Nice job Konrad. I worked at Plongee Castille for a summer and dived the B17 on a regular basis, great dive. Sad but true, at minute 3.40 you can see missing blade on the port side... It was stolen during that same summer.. No it was not me!
