Ah this brings back memories. I was nine years old when I saw this tour. I remember losing my mind when Alex started playing that intro riff. Sends chills down my spine to this day.
i love neil peart's druming all around but this song really shows a lot of his talent. hats off to geddy lee.
i seen a rescent video of the assembling of neils drums. i couldnt believe my eyes even when they first began, it started on his own twirling platform. he literally has all the bells and whistles on this set along with ac blowing on his hands so they dont get slippery wet with sweat and as well keeping himself cool because when you are the professor you have to be comfortable.

I saw them this past Sunday at Madison Square Garden-why they are not in the rock n roll Hall of Fame is beyond me!!! Ive seen a lot of concerts in my day, but this was one of the best Ive ever seen!!! And this is only three guys!!!

One of the best bands of all time, my dad brought me up on them and after 20 years they still never get old, no one should dislike this band they have the most original sound of almost any other band out there that's why they've been around this long this song and band kick major ass!!!!!!!
Just awesome, Totally awesome. I saw these guys when I was very young and they were not much older then me. I thought after hearing their music on the radio "Man they will never be able to play this stuff live" They were even better live. They played in one of the worst stadiums you can imagine and they sounded fantastic. True proffessionals and dedicated artists.
@Axeman2006 if youve never seen Rush, see them. I felt like I ripped them off by only paying 40 bucks, theyre easily the best live act out there right now.
Look at all the devoted Rush fans. We are, because we're searching for precision and structure in our lives, a definite trajectory to follow. Rush is the answer, they give us form and function and steer us in a straight line without deities and superstition, as a human force. And goddamn, it feels good!
@jesuslessed Exactly...funny how many people who think that because they've never heard of Rush, that means that they're shit. How talented do you have to be before you're appreciated, for fuck sake?! I'm sick of arguing with idiots who try to discredit them. You have to be mainstream, middle of the road crap to get respected as a band
Hey guys check out our band Panacea. We are heavily influenced by Rush. Please subscribe and we take all friend requests. We already have a few videos out there.
@Hoogleish the story behind the washing machines is a wierd yet simple one, rush belives and suports the "simple man" alot..meaning they back the idea of an honests works pay, on every tour they have a diffrent prop that is a tool and sign of the working machine, here they had washing machines, on the snakes and arrows tour they used chickan rotisserie, also another explination for it is the idea that geddy doesnt use amps and needed somthing to fill the stage
@Hoogleish Geddy runs his bass thru house the PA, so he finds something funny to fill his "amp space" with. Otherwise, it would just be a bunch of empty space. Also, he does it to make fun of Alex's hugh amps...haha. Each tour he does something ridiculous with his side of the stage.
I took my then 11yr old son to see Rush on this the R30 tour.
He said to me "Daddy it sounds better than the record" and he strutted around in his Hawkwind T-shirt. A Hells Angel came up to me and said "You're bringing him up right!" ...and he was right!
Actually, since Geddy Lee switched to newer, smaller stage amps he had a lot of extra space on stage. So he decided to use Maytag driers to occupy the excess space. They're usually filled with custom designed Rush T-shirts that they either throw into the audience during breaks or have audience members come up during breaks or solos to choose one. I think that's pretty clever. =)
AHHHH!!! LOVE 'EM!!!!!
