Someone needs to do a biography of Jerry and Joe, they're minds were what created Superman, but no one knows their story. Superman is simply their legacy, but not the only part of their story, Jerry and Joe's story is one of showing just how far your imagination can take you if you're willing to work hard and never give up, and also just how easily a dream can turn into a nightmare when greed takes over. They were great men and became heroes themselves for their service in the war
Ohio did put a Historic Marker in Cleveland acknowleding that Superman was created in Ohio, it should be moved to the house right now it's sitting in the town center
The saddest part of the Superman story is how DC treated Jerry and Joe, DC's policy when Superman came out was to have the creators sign away the rights to their creations to the company and while DC made a fortune off Superman Jerry and Joe got very little in the way of money or recognition and it got to the point where DC even removed their names from the comics and published their Superboy comic while Jerry and Joe were fighting in World War II without negotiating a deal with them
@spmandmtgr Yes, over $100,000 was raised, enough to fix all of the structural problems and do more cosmetic upgrades than originally expected. There's a more recent video from about a year later with more details.

...I am Superman, and even if you like him or not, he is a legend. I mean without the creation/ideas of Superman, we wouldn't have the majority of the greatest heroes we have now today.
That house is the origin of a legend, so wonderful to see the place I'd heard about. How a young Jerry Seigel lay away at night and conceived of a 'super man'... and that was the place it happened! Wow! At one time only one person knew of Superman... and that he was really Clark Kent. Now everyone knows... : ) What an achievement! What a legacy for a country let alone one man! Save the house!
To everyone that has helped by donating money or bidding on an auction item: Thank you! We are starting work on the house tomorrow. This has been fantastic. Thank to everyone involved for all they have done!

And another thing, WHY isn't ANYONE helping Bruce Wayne with WAYNE MANOR?! I mean, at the end of Batman Begins, Ra's Al Guhl destroyed it so that is why he is slumming it in that swank penthouse in downtown Gotham for TDK. So, is anyone donating money to help rebuild Wayne Manor? I THINK NOT!

When it shows all the people saying "I am Superman" I thought I was going to puke. That was so gay. How many times have we seen that same thing applied to something else? Oh brother. I see multimillionaire Jerry Seinfeld made a comment about Superman. We all know what a huge Superman fan he is so where is he on this? How much has he contributed? Hell, he has enough money in his sofa to pay for ALL OF IT! This, my friends, is LAME! Don't send these jerks money.I want it preserved but not this way.
this vid brought me to tears especially cause my first comics were superman and my dad would explain to how siegel and schuster created him and that really is what made want to draw comics since i was like five!!

This is ridiculous! Where the hell is Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster's families on this "save the Superman house" crap?! Or what about the multi billion dollar Warner Brothers? Let those jerks "SAVE" the Superman house! This is pathetic. There are FAR too many REAL causes to contribute to other than saving this house. Don't get me wrong, I think it SHOULD be preserved but not at OUR expense! Not when WB has made MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars of the Superman character over the years. Pathetic!
While I agree that Warner Bros. should feel compelled to contribute, because you're right, they have made millions off this single character (at the expense of Siegel and Shuster, and at the expense of the principles for which the character stands for), but why begrudge people who want to see the house treated as it should be? Nobody is forced to contribute; what do you mean "our expense? This is not taxpayer money; it's whoever wants to contribute. You're the one who is pathetic!
WOW. That's DAMN noble of everyone involved, from actavist, to artist to fan. Although I have been a resident of Australia all my life and have never left this land, I was "born" in that first "Fortress Of Solitude", as were George Reeve, Christopher Reeve and all of you.
"For all those who said I couldn't do it. For all those who said I shouldn't do it. For all those who said, 'It's Impossible.' See you at the finish line." - Christopher Reeve
Cool video. I hope this all works out. That house deserves to be a museum in its own right. Cleveland should put some funding into the house as well!! Is that the guy Muley and I met at Superman Celebration?
Simple. It's not about money. It's about what was created on this spot. And that is bigger than any amount of money Warner's or the Siegel/Shuster families could come up with. If you're not down with charity or THIS charity, that's cool. Some of us want to help, though. The idea born in this house sent many of us flying. I am Superman!
The greatest point here, imo, is not necessarily the preserving of the house; but, rather that other houses (ie, HP) were saved. That makes this all that more important to me, because if we can preserve a house because HP was invented, then shouldnt the house where Superman was created, an American Icon, be preserved also?
One more thing: Thanks for not auctioning items on ebay.
Superman never was my favorite comic character but seeing that house gave me chills and made me cry and pissed me off all at the same time. I'm gonna do every thing within my power to help this cause.

i'm glad enough people are left in the world who care about mankind's achievements to save a memory such as this house.
it should be converted into a superman museum.
i'm buying a shirt for both my wife and i.
thanks to brad for taking up this cause.

Lame. Instead of donating money to a crappy house, donate it to starving kids or something, morans.

As soon as I can financially, I'm contributing to this. It's deplorable what condition it's in. It should be protected because it's part of history.
