I mustve listened to this song a dozen times and only just realised the light fixture looks like a little man trying to pull himself out of the wall...mind = blown.
Love the arrested development reference in the name of this track. Was watching the Godzilla episode and saw the jet packs was yes Japanese ad. So I naturally had to come listen to bulb.
3 people have ear aches from listening to justin beaver and lady caca, therefore they cannot listen to anything anymore without their ears hurting soo bad that they accidently push the dislike thumbs down button
@Mayokitty7 If you can't find an appeal to this song, perhaps this upcoming star "Rebecca Black" will better suit your needs, with her deep, emotional lyrics and instrumental masterpieces.
Wow, this song never fails to awaken deep feelings inside that otherwise would remain trapped in my heart. Both versions are in my opinion very epic without a doubt.
Maybe you already have a VST with some electronic drum sounds on it. Otherwise, search for Boyinaband sample packs and get some electronic drum samples. Actually, real drums can be used too. And a whole assortment of other sounds.
Do you have a sampler? (A vst in which you can load your own samples to trigger with MIDI). Put them in there.
Experiment with very short MIDI notes (for example a 64th note roll with a snare sample). Add some pitch shift automation, eq automation etc.
@jageRYster There are a number of vsti's out tat you can use to emulate the electronic drums. There is spectrasonics Stylus RMX and then there is Native instrument's Reaktor 5. Im still trying to work on those electronic beats. Its a steep learning curve but the rewards are much satisfying.
This song and the Periphery version of this with lyrics are both absolutely amazing, epic wrighting skills once again from the master himself: MISHA MANSOOR!!!
Guys, 1000 times better without lyrics. IMHO the lyrics melody is totally lame for a song like that. It needed an ethereal melody, not this new-age like crap....
If only more bands would make purely instrumental music instead of loading their songs up with shallow ass lyrics, the world would likely be a better place I dare say.

this is fucking great! post rock 7(8?) string prog! i like some periphery, but damn i cant stand the vocals this is great without them! and from what ive heard so far its alot more musical hah.
@MrCotopaxi To each his own, if you don't like em, don't listen to em. But the vocals are here to stay. Thank you for sharing your opinion for all to read.
@MrCotopaxi I feel like people are just saying the vocals suck because it's what everyone else says. Spencer is an amazing singer there is no denying it, and if you do you're pretty much just being a jerk. Yea you might not like the way he sings, I mean he does sing kinda nasally sometimes, but he is still a great singer and his growls have improved a lot.
@shakunkadunk probably used a drum machine/computer software. lots of producers will just pick out a preset drum effect from a software database... that sounds like the case here. im not 100% sure but i thought i heard somewhere that bulb/periphery uses ''drumkit from hell''
@CORNP00 yeah man, they use ezdrummer, its what i use im just wanting to know if its an addon for ezdrummer or a whole new program, thanks for the help :)

@shakunkadunk I'm not positive but one of my friends told me you have to take the sound of a closed high hat and mess with the wave form..its not complicated apparently just experiment, hope that helps
@SabianTamaDrummer And if you look in the credits section of Periphery's album, Misha gives credit to Tosin.... So im thinking AAL may have had some help with this album. I could be wrong though :)
@Soulgrind025 this is the demo version of Jetpacks. If you don't have the instrumental disc, you can buy it on Amazon I believe. It should have the solo on the instrumental :D
This is my least favorite song on Periphery's new album. It sounds cool as instrumental, but with Spencer singing on it and the overcompression, it sounds pretty... poppy.
@Jdcie Poppy?? Far from. This song is probably the most muscially advanced song on the album with the intertwining melodies and chord progressions. The vocals do change the complexity of the song, but the vocals over this song are some of his best on the album!
@kuswish Poppy indeed. all the open chording (not dissing on playing open chords), electronic drums, and the vocals, plus they compressed the crap out of it, as most albums are these days, made it sound rather poppy. I enjoyed The Walk and Zyglrox a ton more.
