  • I mustve listened to this song a dozen times and only just realised the light fixture looks like a little man trying to pull himself out of the wall...mind = blown.

  • Mansoor just blew my mind.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • this is Periphery

  • I see Bulb is an Arrested Development fan...

  • Beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • i respect bulb as a musician

  • this is the best version ... listen whilst playing halo

  • u ppl are saying u all still hear vocals.......i dont hear any at all lol

  • @Soulintent26 then you have no idea what periphery's version is. sad day for jew.

  • @Soulintent26 hey, look up peripherys complete version (with vocals) of this song, listen to it 19-20 times.... then come back to this version.

  • Was that a pyramid i spotted.

  • That's pretty weird i can hear the vocals at the start

  • apparently it takes more than 3 people to screw in a lightbulb or this song would have 0 dislikes.

  • who would have thought that actually adding Spencer's vocals would eventually make this song even MORE moving.

  • I LOVE it when there are multiple versions of a song available !

  • love djent with clean vox? check HILLVALLEY watch?v=JOGRe1acJuI

  • Dem POWER CHORDS 1:58-2:21 \m/

  • Infernal Hail from OBNOUNCE, i just love my Ibanez RG2228 8-string guitar using Bareknuckle Aftermaths...

  • gives quite a different feel without the vocals imo

  • Love the arrested development reference in the name of this track. Was watching the Godzilla episode and saw the jet packs was yes Japanese ad. So I naturally had to come listen to bulb.

  • 3 people have ear aches from listening to justin beaver and lady caca, therefore they cannot listen to anything anymore without their ears hurting soo bad that they accidently push the dislike thumbs down button

    ...

  • beautiful, dreamlike, and sorta heavy all at the same time...where's the weed at?

  • Awesome song

  • One eighth of one percent of people have disliked this video. Bias or not, numbers speak. (Save me using math as a metaphor for GREAT fucking music).

  • 3 persons don´t have Ears.

  • I am lost and I still can't find the appeal of this song.

  • @Mayokitty7 your comment is invalid.

  • @Mayokitty7 What kind of music do you normally listen to?

  • @Mayokitty7 If you can't find an appeal to this song, perhaps this upcoming star "Rebecca Black" will better suit your needs, with her deep, emotional lyrics and instrumental masterpieces.

  • Managed to convert a friend into liking Periphery, just made him listen to this song. Worked a treat ;)

  • It's funny that the project is called 'Bulb' because the beginning sounds exactly like it could have been a song made by The Flashbulb.

  • love this song ^^" the instument was yes!

yeah but, I think the v.2 of Jetpack was Yes! is awesome, too ="]

  • To be honest, this song is better without the vocals!

  • Wow, this song never fails to awaken deep feelings inside that otherwise would remain trapped in my heart. Both versions are in my opinion very epic without a doubt.

  • i want this song to be played at my funeral

  • whats bulb anyway

  • ohmyallah. fuck yeah!

  • i still hum the lyrics :)

  • @ninjapie117 hahaha me too ;D

  • how the hell did we get lucky enough to get Misha and Tosna Abasi around at the same time????

  • @elisprague I don't know, but I like it.

  • 3 people deserve to die in excruciating pain for not loving the little bulbman at 1:40.

  • AH for some reason i still hear the vocals even though there arent any. -__-

  • @sephirothdun I'd love to hear what the vocals are singing! :D What are they saying? Would love it if you shared with the rest of us! *thumbs up*

  • @sephirothdun It's almost unbearable isn't it? xD

  • @sephirothdun HOLY CRAP SO DO I.

  • pure musik

  • with or without vocals every song on that album is amazing!

  • I much prefer Periphery without vocals.

  • Hey gunna keep this short n sweet

-At 0:13 the drums are glitchy breaky

-I really need help on how to create this sound

-I use cubase 5 and i understand vst and how to use them to a begginer level

please any help would be really greatly appreciated

  • @jageRYster

Maybe you already have a VST with some electronic drum sounds on it. Otherwise, search for Boyinaband sample packs and get some electronic drum samples. Actually, real drums can be used too. And a whole assortment of other sounds.

Do you have a sampler? (A vst in which you can load your own samples to trigger with MIDI). Put them in there.

Experiment with very short MIDI notes (for example a 64th note roll with a snare sample). Add some pitch shift automation, eq automation etc.

  • @jageRYster There are a number of vsti's out tat you can use to emulate the electronic drums. There is spectrasonics Stylus RMX and then there is Native instrument's Reaktor 5. Im still trying to work on those electronic beats. Its a steep learning curve but the rewards are much satisfying.

  • 3 people still use candles.

  • Damnnnn love it!!

  • whats the name of this album?

  • Epicness !!! \m/

  • I agree... I like spencer but the vocals kinda kill it...

  • Misha is a freakin genius! So talented and creative...

  • There's something about this song man...does hit the emotions pretty hard. Definitely should have left this as an instrumental on the album.

  • @EnjoyYoSushi just download the instrumental album i have it, i cant stand the vocals

  • This song and the Periphery version of this with lyrics are both absolutely amazing, epic wrighting skills once again from the master himself: MISHA MANSOOR!!!

  • Guys, 1000 times better without lyrics. IMHO the lyrics melody is totally lame for a song like that. It needed an ethereal melody, not this new-age like crap....

  • If only more bands would make purely instrumental music instead of loading their songs up with shallow ass lyrics, the world would likely be a better place I dare say.

  • @PrognosticInflux There are plenty of bands that have meaningful lyrics...

  • "This song totally reminds me of Avatar"

    Lmao thats legit.

  • this is fucking great! post rock 7(8?) string prog! i like some periphery, but damn i cant stand the vocals this is great without them! and from what ive heard so far its alot more musical hah.

  • So good it gives me chills

  • Am I the only one who hears some post-rock influences in this?

  • @DaveGrean youre the only one who cares to label music as post rock wtf is with all these genres its all music man

  • @sk8njam Yeah ofcourse, defining everything as "music" is really good system for finding the kind of music you like -.-

  • "Misha 'the electric lightBULB' Mansoor" Good luck with the Mocha Imporium!

  • i talked to bulb a couple times on aim, he's a nice guy

  • Too good without the gay ass vocals, such a shame.

  • @rexasul You can get an instrumental version of Periphery's debut :D

  • @rexasul moron

  • me tooitisfuknwierd

  • Is it weird, I can still hear the vocals...

  • This song gives me goosebumps., It's so amazing instrumental.

  • Win. Thats all i can say.

  • haha this song title is from ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT! lol when hey buy the jetpack, the japanese ad says JETPACKS WAS YES!

  • wow its something special to hear it without the vocals

I really like the vocals on the periphery album, but thats maybe even more awesome

  • A never Though Drums, Guitars and those Sound Effects Could create A really deep Song!!! It's almost like "Uplifting Trance" Music!!!

  • @educoehua then you should check out Bulb's other music with Periphery and Haunted Shores :]

you'll like what you hear I promise ;)

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY I usually dislike anything metal, kinda, but if this is like some future metal, experimental stuff I am all for it. Amazing!

  • reminds me of metal gear solid 4

  • <3 demasiado buena esta banda!

  • you know its gonna be good when theres only 3 dislikes.

  • This song is infinite blue levitation in slow motion...

  • This song is pure genius... a mad song to listen to when travelling around and even better when youy lay on your bed and absorb its brilliance.

  • looking out over kuala lumpur listening to this song gave me a feeling ive never had before and probably wont get again....nuts man

  • Comment removed

  • this track blows my mind every time I hear it.

  • Damn.

  • holy shit....this is fuckin dope

  • is this all instrumental band?

  • @MendingSilence bulb's music is instrumental, but songs like this one made it to Periphery's album (his main band) and have vocals on them.

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY How much of Periphery's album was originally written under the bulb name?

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY aaaaaand periphery's vocal suck,whilst bulb's instrumental kick ass

  • @MrCotopaxi To each his own, if you don't like em, don't listen to em. But the vocals are here to stay. Thank you for sharing your opinion for all to read.

  • @MrCotopaxi THE SINGER RULES

  • @MrCotopaxi do something better.

  • @MrCotopaxi I feel like people are just saying the vocals suck because it's what everyone else says. Spencer is an amazing singer there is no denying it, and if you do you're pretty much just being a jerk. Yea you might not like the way he sings, I mean he does sing kinda nasally sometimes, but he is still a great singer and his growls have improved a lot.

  • @gubbimon im not saying he should stop singing or whatever, its just i dont like it personally

  • @MendingSilence Bulb is one guy Hes band has vocals though

  • dude that fuckin pick at 1:41 is AMAZING

  • minus the bear had sex with autechre and squarepusher

  • this shit is GENIUS!

  • 2 ppl have missed the Like button.

  • yaaaaaaa, i didnt cry.....but awesome fuckin track. BULB NIKKA

  • amazing tune! anybody know how he makes the efect on the drums near the start?

iv heard them on the animals as leaders album and i know misha worked on that with tosin to make it aswel any help would be great, thanks!

  • @shakunkadunk probably used a drum machine/computer software. lots of producers will just pick out a preset drum effect from a software database... that sounds like the case here. im not 100% sure but i thought i heard somewhere that bulb/periphery uses ''drumkit from hell''

  • @CORNP00 yeah man, they use ezdrummer, its what i use im just wanting to know if its an addon for ezdrummer or a whole new program, thanks for the help :)

  • @shakunkadunk ohh i see lol. i wouldnt know then, i dont have the program...other than that, there might be freeware you can download, or an online editing site somewhere that could provide a similar effect.

  • @shakunkadunk I'm not positive but one of my friends told me you have to take the sound of a closed high hat and mess with the wave form..its not complicated apparently just experiment, hope that helps

  • :) <3

  • ohhh wow, just amazing.....

  • bulb is in what relation to periphery??

  • @ngcast bulb is Misha Mansoor, the lead guitarist of Periphery.

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY i laugh every time i read that name, simply because of the audio piece put into the album introducing every member.. haha

  • @LOKOMETASENJADOTOY only the best. use to talk to him while i was deployed his music calmed me the fuck down when i wa in afghanistan

  • @ngcast bulb is also a manager and producer of periphery and many other bands...

  • @ngcast

bulb writes the periphery songs. so bulb pretty much is periphery

  • @ngcast God.

  • @ngcast he is the FOunder

  • This is a song that vocals shouldn't touch! It's perfect on it's own :)

  • Makes me think of Mirrors Edge everytime for some reason :D

  • What album/demo did you find this on?

  • anyone know where you can download this? doesn't appear to be on itunes.

  • omggggg so much better for listening to with no vocals

  • @biocideband SEARCHING FOR A WAY OUT OF THIS DREAM I WASTE MY BREATH ASCENDING FEARS LEAD ME ASTRAY THE PAST REEKS ALL TOO BAD WHATS LEFT TO CARRY ME

    umad bro?

  • @sauron610 these walls of time release my eyes move like the drift

  • @sauron610 those lyrics are slightly incorrect, but meh its youtube,

  • its too good!

  • almost like animals as leaders. love it

  • @neilorourke71 Animals as Leaders are almost like Periphery ; )

  • @SabianTamaDrummer And if you look in the credits section of Periphery's album, Misha gives credit to Tosin.... So im thinking AAL may have had some help with this album. I could be wrong though :)

  • 1:50 is quite clever.

  • yeah this song brings up some interesting emotional memories for me . hot summers in phx with my ex.

  • periphery is the shit man.

  • The solo isnt in it! Damn! One of my favorite solos on the album.

  • @Soulgrind025 this is the demo version of Jetpacks. If you don't have the instrumental disc, you can buy it on Amazon I believe. It should have the solo on the instrumental :D

  • Im going to dislike the video...only to say im the one person who disliked it out of almost 11,000

    (I love the video truthfully)

  • i love the periphery version with the vocals but the instrumental makes you see how much more is actually going on with the melody and harmony

  • there shouldn't be a dislike button for this its to amazing

  • This song totally reminds me of Avatar

  • Gotta be my favorite on the album

  • This is my least favorite song on Periphery's new album. It sounds cool as instrumental, but with Spencer singing on it and the overcompression, it sounds pretty... poppy.

  • @Jdcie Poppy?? Far from. This song is probably the most muscially advanced song on the album with the intertwining melodies and chord progressions. The vocals do change the complexity of the song, but the vocals over this song are some of his best on the album!

  • @kuswish Poppy indeed. all the open chording (not dissing on playing open chords), electronic drums, and the vocals, plus they compressed the crap out of it, as most albums are these days, made it sound rather poppy. I enjoyed The Walk and Zyglrox a ton more.

  • it should be an 18 minute song minimum...

  • This song is just the PERFECT chill song. I wouldn't change anything.

  • i thought the vocals definitely added to the song actually, i honestly dont understand the whole spencer-hatred thing.

this instrumental is amazing but the vocals are the icing on this fucking perfect cake.

  • This song should stay instrumental, as an intro of the S/T album. Putting vocals on this masterpiece is just murder.

  • amazing....simply, amazing

  • Woah.

  • i don't like periphery because of the vocal work...but bulb is awsome. All instrumental, it's the way it should be !

  • instrumental metal is reborn!

  • it's somehow even better with lyrics

  • @ScootGod Dude have you heard spencer sing it i mean his voice is so perfect on this song you have to check it out. He makes the band so good

  • FUCK this rules

  • good stuff

  • love them breakbeat parts of it. :)

  • probly knows about as much theroy as i do but enough to write songs i wouldn't go of my acount for the way i write stuff now

  • does anyone know if bulb knows theroy or he just has alot of talent(i think he does)?

  • Ughh....I had a really hard time coming up with a comment to describe the impact the music has one me while listening to it and maybe on everyone else as well.

But, now, I guess it doesn't matter. Because we all know the feelings this song brings out of us. I don't need to explain, since we all know. Is this music universal and timeless?

  • This is one of the distinct achievements of Bulb.

However, one thing to note: I would like him to expand on this sort of idea. I wonder what it would be like if a song like this was longer. Not to say that the 3 minutes aren't some of the most introspective and beautiful minutes in music.

  • ohh.. drinking some longdring at 23:13 and listening this and just chillin <3

  • Amazing how a song without lyrics can be so deep and meaningful and almost bring you tears.

    I seriously love this song/band/guitarist.
