@moparcarsonly is that how you judge a truck? sleeping accomodation! try turning one of the usual american trucks in a tight circle, fuel economy is also shit handling ride etc etc all the stuff that matters to a driver
please .... you poeple act like the (Best truck in the world) is gonna make the (driver)! Doesn't matter what part of the world I see it everyday.. some powerful and good looking trucks with a idiot that can't drive it...
i would love to see these in north america, idk about quality but just the ride and comfort of the operator, with the awesome view in these trucks, and their maneuverability i think they would do well once people started to trust them. and with 730 ponnies and 2500ft/lbs of torque, should get the job done
@TheBlazen001 US trucks may be built like tanks but things like ride comfort and quality in the Scania would be way better than something like a Mack.
I have a doctors degree and Currently struggling with drug problems and turned to my krip-front 12 cylinder duster autopilot for my wife's abuse. Fuck you.
that thing is ugly and gay. it looks like it would fall on its face if you braked too hard a peterbilt longnose is a good looking truck. you euro dudes can keep this monstrosity.
i love a 730hp truck..but here in australia with our ROAD TRAINS out bush in the outback pulling up to 6 trailers that can be up to 48ft each then EURO trucks just cant cut it,they break down and dont last..kenworths.western stars.and macks will do 3-4 laps around the odometer (1million kms each time) in the bush and mines...euro trucks struggle to stay in one piece doing 500,000km in our harsh australian conditions...the euro auto cab overs however are good for local city work -size restriction
@V8DOMIN8 I'm not saying that you don't know what youre talking about, I'm sure you do, but euro-winter can be pretty harch. A typical route here in Sweden would be something like Gothenburg - Boden (1 400 km). You will be travelling from about -5 degrees censius to between -25 and -35 degrees during our winter.
I think it's al about tradition TBH. Why would you import a Euro-truck when what you have already works perfectly? Why would we import a Kenworth when what we have already works well?
@Pagelos very true mate, if what you have works why change..but we do import euro trucks..i myself have spent 3 yrs in a M.A.N TGA, and also a few yrs in a VOLVO, both were 12speed ZF AZTRONIC autos...nice to drive, comfy and quiet, but weak trucks...the american trucks just seem to go on and on and on and on, in america and canada they also drive in ice -20 or -30*..look up the FOXTEL t.v series "truckers on ice" its quite interesting, western stars and kenworths driving across the ice lakes
i did . look how you shift a actros.most of euro trucks use symchronised transmission. that is not really good for heavy duty. ,dont need all the fanci bumper cover on them ,they overheat easily . you hit a chiken and welcome costly body work. run out of AD BLUE and lose power.but this thing is not cheap.
@babouinga There are several options, for instance Volvo's I-Shifts (at least 3 options) are unsynchronized, FH 700 boasts 3150Nm of torque, but R164/730 3500Nm/2581,12 lb/ft and it based on synchronized box (Opticruise, automated with or without the clutch pedal), Scania reduces the torque in lower gears, but there's always at least 3300Nm available. 18spd Roadranger has two versions, the stronger one bears 3050Nm/2249.26lb/ft - E F getting to be inadequate in certain markets.
too many useless gadgets on euro truck .difficult to repair and cabover no safe.mercedes is triying hard in vain with the MB-SERIES engine.PACCAR engines have too many accessories wont much with KENWORTS simple and easy to fix .everybody runs away from volvo engine easy breaking down and expensive to repair.get this CUMMINS, CAT or DETROIT engine ,EATON FULLER transmission and ROCKWELL REAR END in mercedes, volvo, renault daf ,scania, MAN and the rest YOU WILL HAVE GOOD TRUCKS if not they juks
@babouinga come and try for you self then :) some of the trucks are used 24 hour when its 2 drivers on it, one driver night, one driver day :) mountain passes and a lot of corners:) and our trucks is made in 2011 and looks like it, us trucks is the same as 20 years ago :)
i can tell you something these europpeen truck can not survive in the USA . YOU DONT EVEN SEE THEM HERE. V8 DESIGN ENGINE NOT GOOD FOR SEMI TRUCK AND LONG HAUL.. in the USA truck can run coast to coast that represent a lot of miles. but in europe drive a little bit and jump on the train for the rest of the trip .the call it FERROUTAGE.
@babouinga uhm what the hell are you talking about? Truckers drive through whole Europe, which equals the same or more miles than coast to coast in the US... European V8 engine design is quite different than yours.
@babouinga That's because they're simply to expensive for your rubbish (economy wise) country. And the ONLY trip on a train they take here is England-France lmao..
@djdjerojr Your countries are the size of the average US state and we can afford enough pavement to have wide lanes and big intersection...no need for the cabover crap....they drive terrible! Nice power though!
@Donsfast Pavement? Why would you want pavement next to a highway LOL? Also, these trucks drive 18-20 hours per day, it's not about the distance it travels in 1 trip, because these trucks drive just as much kilometers per hour/day/working day as any American truck. And you're saying you have big intersections therefore not need cabover? Makes no sense. It's a proved fact cabovers are easier and cheaper to maintain.
@Zeamus634 Unless it met all safety and emissions requirements, they would never allow it here. The other problem that you would have is if you break down, you are screwed. There is no Scania dealer network in the U.S. Where would you get this truck fixed? Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful truck, but the expense involved would be a major headache in the long run.
@336kgf Being scandinavian I have no doubt it will pass any emissions & safety regs. Regardin dealer Network. I bet if you peel back the covers you,ll find some link to a US truck maker. But IMHO I dont see why people get such a hard on about Scania over here. I,ve had a few & found them quite a mediocre wagon. Gimme a Pete or Volvo anyday or even an ERF (rip) now thats one hell of a wagon. At the end of the day. Driver appeal wins. UK / US / EU we know wat we like & we like wat we know.
@oscarfish38 As someone who spent 2 1/2 yrs as a long haul trucker I would love to give something like that a try. I have no problem with what anybody wants to drive over the road. What I am saying is that unless there is some kind of a link to a U.S. truck maker as you mentioned that logistically it would be extremely difficult if something happened. Maybe someday the European truck makers can get established here to give Freightliner, Pete, Mack, Volvo, KW etc some extra competition.
@336kgf Yeah I see where you coming from. I,m lucky as I have driven both EU & US trucks in my time. US trucks win hands down for living space & cruising in a long straightline. EU trucks are alot better in tight citys & mountain roads. Frightliner I belive are owned by Mercedes Benz & do share alot of components with thier Actros truck here in EU. Volvo VN is just an FH with its motor out front. So theres 2. Its a dog eat dog world & makers dont wanna get bit by tryin new markets. Shame TBH.
