  • This was a song that an old love and me shared for some time. He was from south carolina and I was from texas. He was 37 and i was 20. I really loved him and we loved this song. I hadn't spoke to him in 35 years until I found his number and left this song as the message on his phone. He knew who it was and called me back and we had such a good talk! This was just last week. But my point is that these good old songs are ageless and this was a dear one to these 2 old lovers. Thank you!

  • MAN, I'M A SOUL BROTHER, AND THIS GENTLEMAN GOT CHOPS!! THIS SONG AND THE SINGER IS TOUCHING. BEAUTIFUL. THOSE LOVELY LADIES IN ATTENDANCE. TRULY LEGENDS. THANK YOU COUNTRY MUSIC.

  • My Lord, the talent in that room, I wanna hear them all, too!

  • GOOD MUSIC, EXELLLENT PERFORMANCE.

  • Love this song...love Ed!

  • I believe Ed had everyone's attention on this one cuz he dwarfs most of them sitting there....

  • For any 'older' cowboy who found love with someone a bit younger, this song rings true...

    Her gentle heart was broken,

In a way a tender lady shouldn't have to know.

And mine was somewhere in between.

Somethin' I should hold on to or let go.

Her talkin' blue eyes told me,

The story of the love she failed to find.

    And without conversation I suppose,

The lines on my face told her mine.

So true. The lines on my face tell many stories. I've earned them. I'll share them.

  • This is amazing, so good it's studio quality.

  • Buck Trent is the one holding the microphone.

  • what a song. none better. this is Ed bruce . damn fine singer.

  • There's not enough o's in Smooooooth to describe his voice

  • I just singed up for You Tube so I could say this about this performance: Wow!

  • He's also a fine actor

  • great job!

  • @dave61792 I believe that is Banjo Master Buck Trent

  • I have watched this many times in the last few years and I'm always so happy when it's still here to enjoy. This guy is amazing -- how does he still stay so "young" at his age??? What a voice and what a personality and what a presence. This particular song reminds me of an important era in my life. Long ago, of course. But seeing all these folks assembled is heart warming.

  • Outstanding!!! This got me to find his official website and see that he's still spinning out tunes. I spotted him last year still acting as a politician in the film 'Public Enemies'. I'm off to buy a new Bruce Album!

  • how in the world i forgot this song ,i guess blam it on old age lol

  • Looking at the responses, 1 no??? How is that possible. Great song by a great performer.

  • Cool

  • Wonderful song!

  • fantastic piece of music......!!!! his best......and gee....doesn't lane brody still look pretty awesome...i believe that's her (1:06 ???)

  • @jekiwe yes thats lane, doesnt she still look great, like i said b4 ed sure shows his age but his voice is still tops. Ronnie McDowell looks strung out on something and boy has T Graham Brown packed on weight

  • Absolutely awesome what a guy he is....and what a voice...wow...presence and personality.....

  • He still sounds good....what an artist. "Age makes no difference" not to him anyways!

  • We love you, sir.

  • This is greatness! A true artist!

  • Soooo good, thanks for posting.

  • good stuff from the past. close your eyes and remember

  • Is that Buck Trent holding the mic.? I aked him for his autograph in Branson, he said "Mayby Later". I told him "if you don't have time for me now,I won't have time for you later", and left. If it wasn't for Porter Wagoner, he would be sweeping floors at a restaurant somewhere. Jerk

  • @Sunburst64 some of them are jerks. my two sons at the age of 4and 6, asked george jones for an autograph and he completely ignored them. it was at his show in Lake Charles, Louisiana. they were fan club members at that time. there was one other kid there besides mine and he ignored him too. i could understand if 500 people were beating down his door for an autograph. just three little boys that idolized GJ. we still love and listen to his music. i guess you could say that was acting like a jerk

  • what year is this?

  • Ed Bruce is also one of country music's Greatest Song Writers. he definatly is one of my favorite vocalist. Roy Clark just sat there with his mouth open. What he was hearing was stiring his soul

  • He was a good songwriter but a pretty bad singer.

  • @highnrising A bad singer? Youre saying ed bruce is a bad singer? Buddy wtf are you smoking?

  • Look through out the audience, you will never see the likes of these folks again. Masters each one of them.

  • Ed has a great voice and he have writen so many beutiful songs. He sure is one of my fauvourites.

  • I liked this song when I was a kid. I'm 33 now and didn't think I could like it anymore than I did then. I was wrong. This is one of the best ever. The voice!

  • Just an awesome upload! Thanks.

  • Pretty tune with pretty lyrics.....

  • ed bruce was also on a episode of walker texas ranger titled "sons of thunder"

  • how could anyone NOT love this song!

  • Ed hit #6 with this in 1982. Thanks for the beautiful music! I've been creating a channel to archive as much music as I can from around the world for the past century.Over 500 playlists so far covering specific artists and genres & every year since 1900.

I added this to Ed's playlist and the 1982 list!

  • only country can produce such love songs. hell i m an old geezer and its hard for me to keep a dry eye! thank you brotherhamlet for hours of heart break and smiles!

  • only listened to this song 7 times today and its only 6pm! wish this song had a million hits - the world would be a richer and a lovlier place.none finer than mr.bruce!!!

  • I love this one.. Nice to see all the Country Artists listening to this great singer

  • I cannot help but think of my g/f when I hear this song. She has green eyes but also the biggest mop of beautiful golden blonde hair. She used to be a shampoo model on national TV and she still has that beauty.
