  • this guy is so awesome

  • fucking crazy

  • of course he tapped a bit

  • Fredrik Thordendal's main man.

  • @nycic Yeah, bet he studied him quite a bit.

  • damn....we love that guy and his art...makes me wanna just be a drummer...ah well

  • I suppose some purists would call this 'commercial' However, I find it deeply satisfying

  • Jazz and cigarettes. Match made in heaven :).

  • You can tell where ron jarzombek looked too for some inspiration haha :D

  • unpredictable sound....a genius

  • The first time I ever heard this piece was on the radio!I kid you not!I was 22 years old an driving on the 405 freeway when I heard the solo at 2:09 while channel surfing.I immediatley thought "that sounds like Allan Holdsworth!!The D.J. says it's a new album called "Road Games"by (you guessed it)So I'm thinking "Allan Holdsworth on the radio??"of course that was back in the early 80's.Wonders never ceases!

  • @MrBop2011 Jeff Beck is no bullshit . He played such great music starting with his album "truth" . he still is one of the top players of rock guitar .

  • on electric guitar i only know two guitar gods, Allan and Johnny Mc

  • @florafox How about adding Al Di to that list? ;-)

  • I loved this record. I even liked the singer. But I can never enjoy Jeff Berlin's bass. Sounds like farts. Give me Chris Squire. I want BALLS on my bass players!

  • @TouchingYou you just don't like the tone?

  • @ArmorOfChrist777 Yeah, i've tried to like Jeff but his tone drives me nuts and I don't like his choice of notes either. most of the time I don't like Allan's bland tone either. and if you've heard one rambling cascade of notes from Allan you've heard them all. I liked Road Games b/c the COMPOSITIONS are stronger than most of Allan's stuff. EVH said Allan needs "direction" and he's right. I'll take anyone from Fripp to Frith to Howe to Dave Fuze to Dave Tronzo. I can't stand Vai's tone either.

  • i love the allan holdsworth musics with lyrics! Could you guys tell me more cd's with vocals from allan? i got the IOU and the Metal fatigue, but i want moooooooooooore hahaha ...

    Srry about my bad english.

greetings from belo horizonte, brazil, land of the brazilian metal.

  • the bass at the end is amazing.

  • Best album Berlin ever did.

  • allan holdsworth with distortion :)

  • @davtones

Allan always used distortion. He just shaped it to sound like something else. He really hate distortion for some reason. He's really good at making a tone. I can't stand hearing other people stealing his tone because I'll expect them to play excactly like him. Hammer only legato and outside playing.

  • @shadowknight132 Specifically, he's said that if he had the choice, he would not have been a guitar player, but a horn/sax player. As such, it's not that he hates distortion, but prefers to walk away from traditional amp tones to something a little more out there, like synths and heavy 8-voice chorus effects.

  • fluid perfection

  • @SteveSparx More fluid than Jeff Beck? :)

  • @Asymmatrix no

  • @Asymmatrix Holy Shit... I never noticed... the part that sounds like a weird violin is TAPPING??

  • @TouchingYou Nope, Allan doesn't tap. Hard to believe isn't it.

  • @Asymmatrix Yes, he does. Just look at the live version from 1984, when he played in Japan. I've got the DVD...

  • @Asymmatrix if it isn't tapping, how do you call this kind of hitting the strings ? I am interested.

  • @Asymmatrix wrong...Allan taps!

  • @Asymmatrix

    Oh but he does !

    watch?v=6MqzFN5-5jk&

  • @TouchingYou Actually he might have tapped a little on this one. But he rarely does.

  • @Asymmatrix just as a side note, at a live show, the singer mutes the strings with his finger and allan taps those ultra fluid riffs at 2:00. youtube it, looks pretty cool :D

  • @Asymmatrix allan taps a few times in this one watch the video

  • @8stringerr The point being he rarely taps, and many people assume his insane speed has to be tapping. Get it...

  • @Asymmatrix what you hear from 1:42 till 2:05 is tapping. I didn't know till i saw it on the video here on youtube, sounds like a weird violin , indeed.

  • @Asymmatrix Actually, I did sound for him briefly,..and i do mean very brief!, during a concert in cleveland flats.

He does things not from science, but through necessity. Legato is has its varying traits.

  • @TouchingYou not sure... but you can see that Allan was a huge influence on Eddie Van Halen

  • @Asymmatrix I've heard the same rumors... ;-)

  • One of the best Allan Holdsworth solo I've heard ever. He had like the perfect sound on this song.

  • Allan Holdsworth is amazing as always! How does he come up with this stuff? I have to admit, I do love Jeff Berlin's melodic and fluid Bass playing in the coda. Great track.

  • thank you uploading!!!!!!

  • @nakaufo ::-)
