tbone. I grew up next-door to the Bethany church, on Highland Avenue. 42 W. Highland to be exact. The church was a poor neighbor. They bought many houses in proximity to the church, in order to expand. Some were historical homes. One was mine. When they offered to buy my parents homes, they had two, they told my Father that it was needed to build a special building for youth meetings. That was the only reason my Dad agreed. After my parents moved, they tore them down, and put in a parking lot.
hey anybody remember that episode that huell did in a lil town in baja that had a big tree where people rested and it had like a church next to it? what's the name?
What a great man to listen to and very proud.I am in Oakland and Huell just takes me to better places when I watch him on California's Gold. Thank you Huell for your interesting show's, your sence of humor and congrats on being mayor!

You are right Huell, Sierra Madre is a wonderful place. I am 70 years old now, but I grew up there and went to Sierra Madre Elementary way back when. My grand parents were residents and also my great grandmother lived in Sierra Madre.
We attended the old Bethany Church, which was built of river rocks. I remember the old red trolly cars comimg into town and stopping right down at the old red station. Also had many wonderful swims in the old S M Canyon community pool. God Bless Sierra Madre!!!
