I'm British so i am not completely aware of your guys history, but it seems to me that the civil war is a constitutional question, was the Slavery a horrible thing, yes, but did the north have the right to wage war against a group of states who wanted to get out of a union, even if slavery was horrible. It seems to me that this is like attacking Scotland because they wanted to leave the UK, or attacking Italy if they wanted to leave the EU, respond to me if i'm wrong

I thought the real reason was because of lincoln and his greenbacks and attempt to remove central bank power from the union ... causing a cotton trade embargo on the south ... causing economic problems for the south ... declaring war, with slavery being just a part of the issue.

@Borat911 Lincoln supported the central bank. There was no cotton embargo before the war, though the Union did blockade southern ports DURING the war. The southern states were filthy rich, they weren't having economic problems. When the first 7 southern states seceded, the tariff rate was at a 19th century low (google "Tariff of 1857"). There was no declaration of war. Slavery was the primary issue, google "southern declaration of causes for secession".
