Hosting the Olympics SHOULD give you an advantage. Mind you, we hosted the winter Olympics twice, winning no golds the first time and this past time winning 14, a record for any nation. And Russia, a nation 5 times our size, won a measly 3. And now check any Swedish hockey vlog--they claim to be the best because they are smaller than Canada. Even Finland, which has never won the Olympic gold and only one WC, claims that they are the best because they are smaller than Canada.
Canada is better than USA in baseball, because we aren't. But we're a lot better than you think we are. Babe Ruth first played professionally here, did you know that? One last thing, populatin DOES matter, at least it is a FACTOR. Maybe it's not like'if I have 10 athletes and you have 5, I will win twice as many medals' but it is a factor! To all of you Americans complaining about each team losing a game, but Canada getting gold, two things to consider: 1) it's not whether you win or not, it's WHEN you win that counts. 2) Play that round-robin game 100 times, and Canada wins it 99 times. U.S. had a major horseshoe up its butt (and a pretty good goalie) to even be in that prelim game. Canada deserved gold, plain and simple, and the U.S. was a worthy silver medalist. They played the Finns hard, and deserved to be in the gold game.

Hosting the Olympics SHOULD give you an advantage. Mind you, we hosted the winter Olympics twice, winning no golds the first time and this past time winning 14, a record for any nation. And Russia, a nation 5 times our size, won a measly 3. And now check any Swedish hockey vlog--they claim to be the best because they are smaller than Canada. Even Finland, which has never won the Olympic gold and only one WC, claims that they are the best because they are smaller than Canada.

One last thing, populatin DOES matter, at least it is a FACTOR. Maybe it's not like'if I have 10 athletes and you have 5, I will win twice as many medals' but it is a factor! To all of you Americans complaining about each team losing a game, but Canada getting gold, two things to consider: 1) it's not whether you win or not, it's WHEN you win that counts. 2) Play that round-robin game 100 times, and Canada wins it 99 times. U.S. had a major horseshoe up its butt (and a pretty good goalie) to even be in that prelim game. Canada deserved gold, plain and simple, and the U.S. was a worthy silver medalist. They played the Finns hard, and deserved to be in the gold game.

lol i know my facts. and all those places yo mentioned are pretty much the only places in america, that people actually like hockey. in the northernmost parts my country. that's pretty much it. no one cares to watch it that much. why do you think the tickets are so cheap? why do you think they don't get as much sportscenter coverage? why do you think the tv rankings suck? idk how it is in canada, but hockey isn't very popular here. we use our indoor stadiums for basketball.

Actually the Canadian Olympic committee, said fuck you. I think the whole own the podium strategy was a real dick move. I never believed it would work as well as the Canadian Olympic committee had hoped, as I knew there was allot of talent in other countries.
I can only assume in the next winter Olympics the host country will say the same to Canada.

I'd bet on the soldier to take the street fight. mainly because in the first 2 seconds the soldier's training kicks in and the wrestler is still deciding etc.

no i don't remember the marine that you speak of. there was a guy in the army that killed a few soldiers in texas a few months back. i remember that well. i'm a marine, i was in japan when this happened. it was definitely not a marine. there is a big difference between a marine and a soldier. not to say a marine wouldn't have done that but, a marine hasn't done that yet. should we just lock up every middle eastern person we see? i know the rest of your country doesn't think that way.

more traditional. a radical would be spotted out real soon. you can get kicked out of the marines for being fat. the army will keep you in. my point is, marines micro manage each other too much to where it would be obvious if something wasn't right. that's also why the marine general isn't supporting gays in the military. it may work in other branches, or maybe even certain jobs, but it just wouldn't work out in the marine corps infantry. he's actually trying to protect gays.

it does really. especially in the marines. marine culture is very different from the mainstream american culture. and it generally consist of very conservative people. the marines are very small in comparison to the rest of the US's military, yet it tends to do all the hardest missions. that's a totally different argument though. when you throw a mouse into a nest of snakes, it's going to get eaten alive. kinda like a gay guy in a platoon of infantrymen would be hazed. it's to protect him mostly

and everyone else really. i know it sounds bad, but no matter where you go people who are different are going to be treated differently. that's also why they don't have women in the infantry. there would just be too many issues with hazing, harassment, assault, prejudice. the military doesn't have the patience to deal with bullshit like discrimination towards gays. they have a really important job to do.
