  • I don't fly FSX because I want to look at the plane or open air in front of me. i fly because i want to see the buildings and scenery on the ground. There are tons of buildings - real city models for FXS. Does X plane have those too? I want to fly over New Orleans and SEE New Orleans with X plane. Can I do that?

  • @TheElectricRider I have both FSX and have flown X-Plane 10 since December. FSX does look nice for VFR at low-altitude. You have to have those visual cues and it's cool to see landmarks and cities rendered fairly accurately. However, I fly jets about 99% of the time and those buildings and landmarks are nothing at 36,000 feet. Both sims have their strengths and weaknesses...and die-hard fans. :-)

  • xplane Shows more Scenery graphics and A bit more realistic sorry FSX But Xplane Wins

  • lol xplane FTW!

  • Did u have fsx at full settings?

  • FSX is the BEST!!!

  • FSX OR DIE

  • X-PLANE !!!

  • FSX was beautiful <3

  • I used think that FSX was great, till I learned how to use xplane, and custom built my flight simulation pc. I built a i7, intell mb 12gb with a 2gb 6970 ati graphics card. With a 2tb hard drive, I have both fsx and xplane installed and fsx DOES NOT COMPARE TO XPLANE. The graphics in xplane are multiple times better! its far more realistic, far more stable, the detail on the plane are even better than fsx. You can change weather, time situation's with incredible graphics on a drop of a dime

  • Fsx

  • Arguing between simulators is as stupid as... well, most of the comments on YouTube. It's like arguing between Mountain Dew and Sprite. They're just different flavours for people that aren't fawned of the other.

The only thing I can say to those on the FSX side... Have fun waiting for FS11. :)

  • FSX forever

  • I like X-Plane.

  • x-plane is a real simulator with scientific stuff and fsx is like flying around for fun.

  • @TheFinnishRedneck, learn how to spell.

  • FSX is made by ACES Studios and has recently closed.

  • X-plane of course. But fsx is more a ''game''. X--plane9 is more realistic. FSX works only on windows.... X-plane works on windows mac, linux, android and iphone.... with this comment i want to say that fsx and x-plane cant work together...cause microsoft will not accept it...(except if X-plane stop working on linux/mac)

  • i'm gojnna buy x-plane 10

  • FSX!!

  • Its like pes and fifa the one has better graphics but crappy controlls and the other one is more realistic but not better graphics. Pes:xplane and fifa :fsx

  • thumbs up if you thinks fsx and x plane should have a kid

  • I like FSX ground textures, and X-Plane's Transform and Lighting. Both are two main aspects each sim needs to add together, Hopefully Microsoft Flight has some really good HDR added

  • @r4microds Agreed, let's also hope it's not as demanding, I'm still on a single core! Luckily I managed to fine tune FSX to my computer and it looks really well and performs well too.

    Both are awesome. :P

  • X plane and only X plane

have played on both, but have been using X plane permanently since over a year.

Beauty is not just in looks, its also is in the dynamics.

If you are looking for just flying for the sake of quick thrill, if you want the feel of game, FSX is for you.

If you want to learn the physics and dynamics of flight, fly it, then get the thrill, be a creator of planes and scenery, X Plane it is. You choose.

  • I switched from FSX to X-Plane because X-Plane is way more realistic than FSX. X-Plane also has sharper graphics and more detail

  • Which one requires higher spec of the computer?

  • fsx fsx

  • As I know X-Plane is better known because of the physics engine on which it is

  • xplane look's plane, FSX look's exiting

  • the only thing holding me back from fsx is my mac.......

  • Knyjnumyi

  • Tamar ok

  • X-Plane is much more realistic than FSX when it comes to designing, and planes that are made from scratch, yet FSX has better graphics. You decide what is better for you-I'm loyal to X-Plane for at least 4 years and am satisfied with the results.

  • Thumbs up if FSX should make a mac-compatible simulator

  • thumbs up if you thank x-plane & fsx need to team up

  • @combatarmydude maybe they should, maybe they don't,

I don't know Xplane myself, never bought it, i always played MS FS ever since the '98 version i recall.

for all i can see is the planes do not look as "real" as in MS FSX.

is that correct? just hope not to see an Arcade MS Flight next year.

  • FSX is a much better simulator

  • @kostov9 really? maybe you think that based on graphics or what? But X-plane is definitely the more realistic simulator. Why dont you try it first?

  • i've never even heard of x-plane but i'm more familiar with fsx and thats why its better and fsx is more popular and has been around for longer and i told some people who use fsx whether they've heard of x-plane and their answer was "NO"

  • @qantas737800 Wow. Just because YOU (or your friends) have never heard of it, it cant be better? Both are great sims. I prefer X-Plane over FSX, but having a choice is nice. I hope Microsoft Flight will continue to to be good. Competition is good, people. We don't want 1 option.

  • Xplane is for me better.

  • X-Plane's graphics look more realistic than fsx's

  • Xplane is more "warm summers evening"-like, and fsx is more "sunburnt if you go out of the door"-like.

  • How about Fsx and X-plane work together! FSX can work on the graphics and scenery and X-plane can make the airplanes and the flight dynamics!!

  • My only concern is the 60 gigabytes of data. Holy cow!

  • @AntiCamperAssassins, why is that a concern? They make large size hard drives you know ;)

  • @flyboyandre Yup. Which is why I will buy it tomorrow or within the next week. Earlier I had a 120 GB mac so I couldn't but now I have a huge hard drive.

  • @flyboyandre I use an ssd since it is much faster at loading any form of data, but I would rather not have to spend $500-1000 on one with a decent amount of storage for 60 gigs worth of this sim and all my other crap.

  • @flyboyandre yeah large sized drives are available but who's gonna just randomly fly into the store and throw out some money for a new hard drive in this economy?

  • @AntiCamperAssassins You don't have to install all of 60 GB, the base install file is just a few gigabytes. Thereafter install only those sceneries that you want from the world map.

  • @AntiCamperAssassins ever heard of a 2 TB hard drive?

  • @souljajoeandtheowl

Ever heard of free money? I haven't, and I don't think Anit Camper want's to fork out 200 dollars just for a simulator.

  • X-plane

  • I prefer fsx with FTX scenery.

  • x-plane is a game, flight simulator is a simulation.....i have both and i have used both alot....i havent met any serious flight simmers who use x-plane, they usually just laugh if its brought up...

  • @captainsmartass123 hahaha i''m sorry but that's no true what so ever. FSX has all the eye candy and bla bla, but no FAA certification unlike X-Plane. The physics in FSX are very poor, such as landing a 747 on some 1000ft runway and easily making it, or taking off without flaps (on a heavy plane 777,747,a330,etc), in X-Plane with most planes you can hardly get off the ground without using flaps. So I think you better 're-think' who are your 'serious' simmers....

  • @MatisDaBest first of all, no one uses the default planes provided with FSX, those are for the kids. The "serious siimmers" buy products such as PMDG or captain sim. both of which are my personal favorites and are very authentic, and if i recall correctly PMDG has all boeing certified products, these simming companies work with the actual airplane manufacturers to create the most detailed products possible. the planes are in x-plane have horrible interior and exterior models,

  • @captainsmartass123 Yes i do agree with you that PMDG makes descent products, but I am looking aat the development and effort put into the Sim its self, not addons, although X-Plane 9 may have some textures a little worse than FSX, if you would like to expirience flying closer to realy life, X-Plane 9 does that, unlike FSX which gives a lot of people the wrong idea of how planes actually functions. But I must say there is some quiality addons for FSX like you said (PMDG, Captain Sim, Level-D,etc

  • @captainsmartass123 I fly MSFS since FS '95, I don't know if you would call that a 'serious' flight simmer, but I don't laugh at X-Plane at all. Have discovered it recently and after some research I'm now switching to it. It seems to be much more of a Sim than FSX or even more so than the upcoming MS Flight. Ah and have only one thing to add in response to your last line... Youtube for "Default 747-400 inside future X-Plane 10" by japo32. The vid will tell the rest... enjoy ;)

  • @WhiteKestrell youve been simming longer than me, i started on FS2000, but ive spent thousands of dollars on my personal sim and buy the best payware available for the most realistic experience, not possible in x-plane, its all freeware junk. and btw to you and matis im not "laughing at" x-plane, i own it, and ive bought it for friends too, i just dont take it seriously. i never said i hated x-plane.....FSX with well spent money becomes more realistic.

  • @captainsmartass123 The thing is FSX uses chart data to fly its airplanes. So it's only realistic if you buy good add-ons which have been developed with real, accurate data. X-Plane on the other hand, simulates flight pretty much like in a wind tunnel, and as such is ultimately more of a Sim. It's hard for, say a teen like me, to get a 'thousand dollar good-looking FSX system' (would love to get details on yours lol) whereas XP costs next to nothing, if you don't mind the slightly lower graphics

  • @WhiteKestrell im still a teen, i meant my "parents spent" thousands on the computer, the special desk, and teh flight sim equipment. i pay for software and payware myself, problem is im in temporary living at the moment so my super comp in a 18 wheeler container until we get a new house haha, but when i set it up ill post vids of it, i dont usually mention it cuz ppl say i brag which i dont try to do :-P and what do u mean wind tunnel? im confused feel free to explain haha

  • @captainsmartass123 You're welcome, that guy really did a great job with that 747. Well a wind tunnel is a 'room', with a big fan blowing air through it. If you place a plane's fuselage in it facing the created wind, you can use computers and sensors to show you the airflow over and under the fuselage. Then from here you can calculate lift for example. That's what X-Plane does. It just uses a virtual atmosphere (air), flies your plane's fuselage through it, and calculate actual lifts and drags.

  • @captainsmartass123 FSX uses charts, which says like at 5,000ft, 5 degrees nose up and 100kN of thrust --> plane climbs at 1000ft/min. These statistics are made by the programmer, who uses whatever best data he could gather to simulate how the plane should fly. As you see it does not simulate Earth's atmosphere or its rules of Fluid Dynamics. And hey it's no crime mentioning it if you own a Super-PC lol Those people are just jealous. Though In an 18-wheeler? :-P Geez... Bet you miss it hehe

  • @WhiteKestrell 2 18 wheelers, only a family of 4, ya we're nuts u dont have to tell me haha and ya i know what u mean, fsx never had amazing flight dynamics but with products such as PMDG and captain sim, its possible. and yes i miss it, im using my black macbook which is smooth and great for online stuff but a real pain in the ass for games, meaning no games :-P, btw do the x-plane default planes have a 3D cockpit, i cant seem to find it, anyone can really answer this question =D

  • @captainsmartass123 2 18 Wheelers! Lol I see... I can't be of much help on this one. Fly in VC 95% of the time in MSFS, have been using X-Plane for 4 days now but I have found none. You would know better than me since you have been using X-Plane for a while I believe. ^^ A Lufthansa A340-300 add-on (free) I've managed to find (Airbuses seems internetically rare) does have something close though.

  • @WhiteKestrell and yes that x-plane 10 boeing vid was impressive, thanks.

  • Anyone remember Flight Unlimited III ? That was a very fun simulator. I think it was a competitor to MSFS 98.

  • You serious, FS IS THE BEST AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST

  • I have X-Plane 9, and I will say that it is a superior flight simulator. I have used FSX and I enjoy XP9 much more. There is tons of freeware add ons such as planes, scenery or anything else you can think of. And of course, if you have a Mac the obvious choice is XP9

  • @MrPiano13 will it work on windows 7

  • @jimbobey9999 ya, it should

  • i use both. fsx has unlimited scenery; x-plane has unlimited options for the user.

one thing's certain; you have a great computer to run both sims at ultra high res.

  • i like both games

  • I'v never used x-plane but I think x-plane looks better and more detailed compared to FSX. I had FS2004 + FSX and spent a fortune on add-ons for them both but looks like x-plane is better, cheaper on the long run and more advanced than FSX.

  • i Want Both Games

  • (I do have both) X-plane has better graphics and scenery. FSX has okay graphics and scenery. But FSX is easier to understand while X-Plane takes time. Your decision really.

  • x-plane is much realistic and doesn't need a super computer to run and the sloped runways are awesome but however i cant get it :(

  • Wtf is up with xplane's runways?

  • I've been a FS entusiastic since FS 5.0, love FSX now, but I honestly had not seen the graphics X-plane is showing, I would really appreciate if someone here xan make an objective critic of both softwares.

  • Good challence!, have a question, how about FSX ATC module, does X-Plane simulate the same stuff?, how about airport ground vehicles? Whar I read X-plane performs better flame rates compared with FSX in the same system, is someone here able to answear this question?

  • Comment removed

  • @capalmas I have x-plane 9 and fsx and I get a better frame rate on x-plane and it typically looks better too. I'm not sure but I think x-plane has airport vehicles.

    also YOUR GRAMMAR IS ATROCIOUS!

  • @Airplanepilotguy, and do we ever use puntuations?

  • I love them both. FAA uses XPlane so I tend to use that more, but for a more laid back flight I just use FSX.

  • Just wait 'till Microsoft Flight comes out!!!

  • X-Plane is much nicer :D

  • To be honest, I'm getting a bit tired of this discussion: FSX or Xplane.

Have you ever noticed that people stick to the simulator they first tried out?

So if FSX was your first choice, you'll probably be an FSX supporter 4 life, and vice versa; there are only few people I know who have made the transit from one sim to another...

  • @p759hysi I think this is mostly true but I switched from x-plane to fsx until I upgraded my graphics card then I switched back but I think their both great simulators but flight simulators water is just horrible compared to x-plane

  • @p759hysi I must be 1 of the very few then =))

  • fsx is the best!!

  • The FAA uses X-Plane. That's pretty much the end of the story.

  • @voiceaddict

Err... who said that? FAA doesn't USE a simulator lol, they don't even fly even lol; they just set rules to aviation.

Maybe you're referring to the misleading statement on X-planes website about FAA Certification? X-Plane can't be certified even, the sim never gets certified by the FAA. It's only the whole package that is certified which includes the hardware (which costs a ton) plus their PRO version which if you look it up, is DRASTICALLY different from X-plane you're playing.

  • But yes X-plane is routinely cited by professionals as having a more legitimate feel when flying, that's a non-argument considering X-plane is a simulator trying to be a game, and FSX is a game trying to be a simulator.

  • fsx is too animated and crystal clear

  • In all the shots show here X plane looks like there's an atmosphere. Don't know if it's the lighting effects or what but X plane looks like the plane is really in the environment FSX looks like the plane is superimposed on the background.

  • Do they have 737-800 for x-plane with FMC, TCAS and other stuff pmdg has?

Because I don't wanna fly without it. Maybe if 3rd party companies that make addon planes switch to x-plane...

  • @BorisKnoT Yes and it's performance is real. Go look up the X-Plane x737 project. There's an addon FMC you can buy for $50 or so that does everything else.

  • Oh just go fly a real plane like i do and get it all real ;)

  • @ryansharara lol i really wanna one day, but the school is like £100,000 =(

  • @GenralosityXL hehe yeah for sure it costs much, but if for profession, it will pay of later ;)

  • dont know if its just me...fsx water looked good at 0:24 but i just installed xolane and prefer the "feel" of flying

  • They are both great simulators but fsx with rex is amazing a.ll the way

  • check the water of FSX, really ugly, and the landscape, x-plane has much better graphics, performance of FSX i don't know

People that have FSX are all saying x-plane is worse, but they're just jealous that they don't have x-plane, so they try to bring x-plane down, pretty naive

  • @MispelblomB are you ill because you don't know shit about realism

  • check the water of FSX, really ugly, and the landscape, x-plane has much better graphics, performance of FSX i don't know

  • Hey, cant find that beautiful music- pls tell me the link or something, btw huge fan of X plane and FS 2004!

  • Hey, cant find that beautiful music- pls tell me the link or something, btw huge fan of X plane and FS 2004!

  • I have x-plane 9 and i played fsx at my friends house and fsx was better

  • FSX is more arcade. Just jump in an aircraft and fly. X-Plane is much more realistic and the landscape is much more detailed. And no fps drop in X-Plane, even in 40gb's of terrain.

  • song is awsome

  • fsx looks way more realistic.

  • FSX is betta

  • I've taken screenshots that you can't tell from real in X-Plane, also can you fly on mars in FSX? You can get addons for X-Plane that are truly mind-blowing, like an 737 by "x737" truly a work of art, diffrant smoke affects that look much better, you can build your own planes with the included Plane Maker, the lighting in X-Plane looks great if you have the right settings. Take everthing with a grain of salt; go see for your self, X-Plane has a free demo, check it out.

  • FSX all the way!!!

  • Great video! What did you use to record FSX? is there any suggestions of game recorders. I record these wonderful simulators myself but im unable to record FSX because I ran out of trial time is there any good free game recorders out there that don't lag? And what are you using?

  • This is an amazing Comparison. I own Fs2004, FSX, Xplane. I find I like xplane but it is also so true to life that its hard for me to fly, and has forced me to really research how to fly a plane. Unlike in FS2004 and in FSX, you can jump in and take off with no or little knowledge. The graphics and compared to FSX are by far the best I have ever seen. Xplane is the choice to go to for realism and great graphics.

  • @check641 the lighting on the planes in Xplane looks unrealilistic. I like flight sim cause I've seen way more download sites then Xplane. Also in FSX you can fly with no knowledge of flight and still fly.

  • Who really cares? You bought it ,you are stuck with it So deal with it> Each has its problems so it's a matter of preference! I like Both ,i get bored with one ,i switch to the other. So Stop whining about which is better!

  • fsx all the way!!!!! =]

  • Both Xplane and FSX are great sims... and both have strengths/weaknesses. I would say xplane feels more like flying, but FSX has much better avionics packages. More importantly, each of these pushes further innovation in the sim world, so we all win !

  • Flight simulator it's a best simulator to the pc. X plane:the lights, the scenery and the water its a irreal

  • @alxxt0 you got it the wrong way...

  • in my opinion fsx is for people who got worse computer.

  • @OmgZaleD :L wer did u get to that conclusion from?

  • @OmgZaleD F*** U

  • @Jaredhensley1

Fuck you too, i post my comment, but i have fsx, cause in my opinion fsx is better than x-plane...

  • @OmgZaleD ok......

  • @OmgZaleD ok...... ok i play fsx on a laptop

  • X-Plane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FSX 4 LIFE!!!

  • At the moment I have only FSX but I'm thinking about getting X-Plane and after I see that FPS and 3D trees and buildings density difference I really have to try X-Plane. By the way this music video by itself is Amazing!

  • @ashermamen234 You fucking retarded hypocrite! you have blatantly never played X-plane in your life! I used to own FSX when i had a pc, And it was ok. But when i bought a mac i decided to get X-plane 9 as i heard it was the most realistic flight sim out there. And as i have owned both before i do not have a biased opinion. I am telling you X-plane 9 is much more realistic than FSX. I know this as i have flown a cessna 172 and 152 in real life a couple of times. X-plane= Win for flight dynam's

  • Xplane

  • You can say me something? how old are you? look like a small child, and I have to tell you something, you're right, but answer me this:

a case fsx has better graphics than the x plane, in windows you need a graphics card to bring up a small part of graphics while on the Mac includes a much more infinite card card

  • Fsx is more cartoonish

  • @watshisnam1771

U mean fsx is more like a game while x-plane has better flight dynamics and is more realistic

  • In your face, fsx!

  • Fsx is too demanding... even God can't run that game at max... X plane 9 is less demanding...

  • Go x-plane FSX sucks

  • X PLANE MOUNTAINS LOOKS A LOT OF BETTER

  • XPlane run great on my notebook, FSX dont run good even in my desk :C

  • X-plane FTW

  • I really think X-Plane 9 is better in realism and flight dynamics than FSX, but FSX has all the eye candy. I use mostly X-Plane, FSX is not that realistic yet.

  • Comment removed

  • Guys, they both have their ups and downs. But for me, I prefer FSX.

  • xplane is clearly much pretier than fsx but have always played the MFS version i am wondering if i should switch i saw and awesome 787 out there

  • I LIKE X-PLANE (9) MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • may i mention that it seems like the X-Plane developers seemed to have spent less time in the graphics of the planes because when you look at them close up, it really shows a poor job. also, every single airport in the world except one is detailed with any buildings

I'm personally holding out for the release of X-Plane 10 because of what X-Plane developers have been posting on the site, its gonna be good.

  • x-plane looks like a game fsx looks like real life

  • @Watshisname1771 erm, i think you'll find its the other way round completely.

  • x-plane i think juste has better grappicks
