In reality steve irwin was "snorkeling" shallow water and accidently boxed in a stingray. The stingray lashed its tail at him hitting him in the chest. The stinger broke off on impact and stayed in the arterys. Maybe because of the poison directly to heart or the removal of the stinger causing severe tearing in main arterys caused imidiate cardiac arrest . A month later a man was stung directly in heart though and survived not pulling out the stinger suggesting the latter.

In reality steve irwin was "snorkeling" shallow water and accidently boxed in a stingray. The stingray lashed its tail at him hitting him in the chest. The stinger broke off on impact and stayed in the arterys. Maybe because of the poison directly to heart or the removal of the stinger causing severe tearing in main arterys caused imidiate cardiac arrest . A month later a man was stung directly in heart though and survived not pulling out the stinger suggesting the latter.
