  • she's amazing.

  • ♥------------♥

  • Will people please stop talking shite on the page for this song and just listen to it ... do not disrespect a masterpiece!!! Song changes meaning for Hannigan despite the fact it was written pre their relationship. Kind of obvious.

  • So addicted to this.. brilliant..

  • te amo te amo y te amo.

  • te amo

  • neskutečně nádherná!

  • What's with us Irish people and beating the living hell of our instruments? Women and children guys, leave those poor blocks of wood alone.

  • i love the guitar at the start in particular!

  • This version is way better than the album version.

  • @fallenjedi1977 Nah, I'm just interested in Damien's past work and you learn a lot from hanging around the EskimoFriends forum. :)

  • This song is amazing! does anyone know he he is talkin about the girl being too young? is she the same girl mentioned in the blowers daughter? thanks just wondering .

  • i love this! Damien is the ideal folk artist, yet he's always using, what sound like, very 90's punk vides and abstract sounds. take the spontaneous opera part from Eskimo or the droning beat of the guitar from Prague! love it!

  • 48 are no humans...

  • Personally, I think Damien Rice is the ideal artist. Profound lyrics + lovely sounds , both in perfect harmony. He is my favourite.

  • Lisa is a Now and Later.... and forever!

  • This song is my life right now.

  • Very beautiful !

  • Pamela Anderson is like eating a Big Mac. She's great to fuck once in a while but too much of her is bad for you in the long run. Lisa Hannigan is like eating a salad, rice, potatoes and a badass Pot Roast..with some fruits to go along with it. You can live off that stuff for the rest of your life.

  • @ShaolinSurfer777 What do you do with your Big Macs, son

  • @ShaolinSurfer777 Why would you even put Pamela Anderson and Lisa Hannigan is the same thought process?

  • @tesshall23 Ummmmmm.....Cause Imma Guy...and more often than not...Men have to choose between short term pleasures that makes them feel like shit after they're done indulging...and of course long term pleasures..that may not be as stimulating but it's more fulfilling , more calm, laid back/spiritual all in all..will make one more content in the long run.

  • @tesshall23 - Some people are fucking in the head.....

  • Sounds good, but I think Damien needs a plate full!

  • @ShaolinSurfer777 It'd be hard for me to come up with more retarded analogy.

  • this version is beautiful

  • fuck this is a the best song of all the times long life ... damien

  • the wah wah effect is a bit exaggerated

  • @bartni your comments are a bit exaggerated... the man is a lyrical genius

  • This is a killer version of this song. How can 45 people not like this?

  • Neither is better without the other (professionally speaking of course).

@azimuth457 Yes, exactly like that. Have you ever heard of tragic love affairs. Their relationship reminds me of exactly that. It just seems like they are so much better together; like they have the proverbial cosmic bond.

  • He has such a freaking awesome voice!

  • oh God, the opening

  • Does anyone know the name of the effect he uses in the beginning?

  • @TheRandomSqueak ich think its just an ordiinary wah pedall maybe with a slight distortion :P

  • @TheRandomSqueak Surely its just wah with light distortion

  • LMAO when Lisa starts singing she looks like she's gonna puke for a half second here.

  • The one singer songwriter that manages to do something truly original. Love the different arrangement, even better than the album. By the by - I don't give a hang about their personal lives - I listen for the music.

  • thumbs up if you're tired of people saying thumbs up on youtube...

who gives a FUCK if you're top viewed comment?

  • @adama980 and some stupid still thumb you up to criticize those who thumb people up

    we're doomed. DOOMED!

  • 44 people lost their homes due to a volcanic eruption.

  • @MumbleMeister

Worst for them! I'd like be happy that they explore their soul insensible to understand the song!!! =) I hope you understand! I'm not English!

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you found this song because you have good taste in music and werent just lookin to see a volcano erupt!

  • Oh, Damien. I love you. So so much. *sigh*

  • no one else can create this kind of music..they aren't actually songs...they are the strongest scream of a feeling , that's why there will always be a moment everyone needs a little bit (or not that little) of damien rice's music :))

  • @jumpingcookiezz So true!

  • If only I had his voice, for one year perhaps, then I wouldn't even bother asking for the right to exist.

  • needs lessons from matt bellamy..

  • @toner4leeds Matt bellamy needs lessons from him in order to learn the true spirit of music and compose from the heart.

  • @radioheadyorke your a funny guy, id like to see someone teach matt bellamy something about music...

  • @toner4leeds matt bellamy needs no teacher....he is perfect! =)

  • Awesome Intro!

  • i need a friggin cigarette at the end of this song.

  • This is my all time favorite song. I found it luckily thru thebathroomgirl who did an excellent cover, but still doesn't touch damien and lisa. Sexy as f***.

  • My fave Damien Rice song (This version) hands down and one of my all time fave songs!

  • This song rocks. Definitely my new favorite. =)

  • i think i love this more than the origional, loving the wah! gives it thar xtra edge amazing!!!!

  • Amazing song.

  • nice version

  • Lisa Hannigan is the better singer, but Rice's songwriting is what made them great. To compare Hannigan to Rice is like comparing Art Garfunkel to Paul Simon: the former is a great singer, but the latter is the genius that did most of the work and made the music truly innovative and different.

  • i love how relaxed they all are together as musicians. if just seems to me that there is a natural flow in the air whenever i watch a live performance.

  • i only listen to damien rice because of lisa hannigan.

  • @JadeForMercury Lisa's great but that's a bit of an outlandish statement to make. Rice is the true genius at work.

  • @JoeSingsBadly I don't think it's an outlandish statement at all. There are some people who feel that Lisa Hannigan was a major part of the group, and that her voice adds to the hauntingly beautiful melodies that he creates. Yes, he's a genius at his work but so is Lisa. They're both equally talented in their own ways : )

  • @JadeForMercury :/ then you're missing out

  • @motifontheback He's an amazing singer/songwriter and believe me, I loved his music before Lisa's but he left her out in the dust after all the years she was in the group. She never had an recognition whenever they performed. Even he said himself he "would give away all the music success, all the songs, and the whole experience to still have Lisa in my life." But what an asshole he is, he had to f*ck it up. That is why I only listen to his music because of Lisa Hannigan's haunting voice & story.

  • @JadeForMercury oh i had no idea of the story between the two of them. im sorry i didnt mean for you to have to explain yourself to me, you dont owe anyone on the internet an explanation ever, is what i always say haha, but this info is good to know

  • @JadeForMercury ..what happened between them exactly though? now youve sparked my curiosity ha

  • @motifontheback Just google "damien rice and lisa hannigan" and you'll see a bunch of titles like "Lisa Hannigan on being dumped by Damien Rice..." or "Damien Rice opens up about split with Lisa Hannigan". Too much drama to explain in less than 500 words

  • @TheCumeanSibyl you are and asshole

  • why don't ya start a jazz funck band it sounds like thats where u wanna go btw thats just an observation

  • 0:00 <--- replay button Thumbs up!!!

  • what a voice lisa - amazing

  • Great song!!

  • wat an amazing song !!!!!!

  • song is amazing and thumbs up for violin bass at Abbey Road

  • Fucking amazing sound... cool wath he

does with acoustic and the wah pedal.

  • TE GEKKE SOUND!!!! VET...AKOESTISCHE MET WAH EFFECT

  • This song always chokes me up, with some of the shit we have been thru. Memorable, theraputic and so, so real.

  • Good separately, but sensational while together. HAUNTINGLY MEMORABLE

  • True meaning of

     "rolling"

  • I fucking love this song!!!! Theraputic in a sad way.......

  • This is quite possibly my favourite song ever.

  • As good and talented a singer Lisa is... Damien is a true artist and a musical genius. I don't know if its just me.. but I think the song and its lyrics turns Lisa into an irresistible goddess of beauty. The way she sings it with emotion.. and the way they respond and blend with each other is what makes them so good. I'm really disappointed that they split up. There's only going to be one Lisa Hannigan, but I'm positive that Damien can make anyone shine with his talent.

  • Is there an abbey road versioin of the blower's daughter?

  • @nonsens8 No, it wasn't released when he went to the studio. I hope there will be though. :)

  • he's a fool if he let her go.

  • Best version ever. awesome song.!

  • i luv to have this live version on cd. does anyone know if abbey rd sold compilations albums

  • why they call's Damien Rice, when really is the voice of she, that actually make the songs into a relly gods songs.

  • @Adentrollueve Go see Rootless tree Damien rice. That's why.

  • OMG~!!!!!!i gonna cry listen to the intro!!!!!!!god

  • Vachement Bon !

  • uffter effing chaos. But bloody good

  • Who the hell disliked this ? =@

I seriously cant imagine anyone disliking this . Im gonna pretend they missed the like button . Morons . =/

  • @ArthusDead

yeah... there are 42 dumbass deaf people out there with no taste in music

  • One of my favorite songs :) take a look at my Damien Rice cover :)

  • pa raaam pa raaaaaaaam... tell you what: you hold back on the mountains, and I'll take my share of the sea from you, ok? I'll keep my fictionalized self righteous perfections to myself so we both can swim together in our separate seas :))

have we been listening to the same song ?!

  • This performance is so powerful. They're singing about one another, but not making eye contact, or relating in any way. I've come to love Damien Rice over the last year or so. Lisa Hannigan is a gorgeous singer. She needs to step up and shine. Her first CD wasn't strong enough. Go, Lisa!

  • are they together, as in lovers?

  • @johnfonzy not anymore :'(

  • HELLLLLL YES!

  • LOVE ALL BY DAMIEN! JUST GREEAAAAT!!!!!!

    LOVE THIS!

LISA IS AWESOME , A VERY GOOD SINGER!

    THANX FOR SHARING!

    :))

  • Beautiful rocking folk

  • I think the story of Lisa and Damien wold make for an amazing movie.

Their music together is so amazing btw, truly magical.

    :)

  • @Robinzorz I was thinking the same thing today!

  • Freakin Beautiful.... these two were MADE to make music together. its such a shame that things couldnt be worked out!

  • ...mission accomplished, 1000!

    This is absolutely beautiful.

  • Wow there's 998 comments... gotta get it to 1000....

  • i love how he even makes like 3 versions of each of his own songs

  • Those crazy irish...

  • Brilliant.

  • He's one of the few artist that sound better live. So much emotion!

  • she sounds like fiona apple

  • lisa hannigan is amazing on her own but her damien together it is literally magic she should have got more solo's on her own. lisa is one of the most beautiful souls.

  • just found my new favourite song...

  • thums up if youre find this song ramdonly and you think is amazing

  • check it from pare dose

  • this performance sexes my soul.....sooooo bosssss

  • the Irish have soul wow hip

  • wah pedal+acoustic=flippin awesome

  • The distorted vocals are so amazing

  • ROLLIN'. XD

  • Its a BOMB ! love this track...just found it randomly ;)

  • she is perfect.....

  • Am I the only person who thinks that what makes them so great is that the lyrics are all true? The relationship between them is played out in every song. It's painful to watch. He's filled with self-love and self-loathing and addicted to her sweetness while trying to save her from himself. It's sub dom. She's right when she's quoted as saying that their strange breakup as singers was the best thing that's ever happened to her. Damien messed up.

  • @TheCumeanSibyl Everyone thinks these songs are about eachother. Damien wrote this song long before he even met Lisa. Basically the whole of O is old Juniper songs (A rock band he was in during the 90's) and even some songs from 9 are Juniper songs. Lisa has nothing to do with them. Bell X1 actually released this song a few years before Damien. Lisa wasn't in it. And Damien hadn't met Lisa yet. Totally unrelated.

  • @Nickpatient I hadn't checked here for a while! Surprised (and flattered) that so many people voted up my comment! I admit I just wrote what it felt and looked like - I'd read some articles on their relationship, but hadn't researched when the songs were written. Thanks for the information Nick! Still think it's amazing that the lyrics seem to fit so well, but guess that good lyrics and good performances just make it seem like it ;)

  • @Nickpatient I know that this one was written way before Lisa came on the scene, however surely Damien has written at least a couple songs about her before? There was definitely something going on between them both, they're perfect for each other :)

  • @Nickpatient The demo he recorded of Volcano is from 1997

  • @Nickpatient Very true, but songs can also take different shapes and take on new meaning. I have seen Lisa get almost angry looking singing this song. Maybe a coincidence, but who knows?

  • @Nickpatient

It doesn't make it any less applicable in my opinion. Good songs like this are timeless and apply to a lot of situations. Regardless, maybe it was serendipitous. :)

  • @UseMeAbuseMe4Ever Just like them splitting in 2008 was serendipitous?

  • @Nickpatient Just because it wasn't about Lisa when he wrote it doesn't mean it isn't about Lisa now. Songs can change meanings even long after they're written.

  • @tmfcovers.. you no nothing that comment made no sense mate!! when damien met lisa she was a history student in trinity.. id be shocked if damien ever wrote a song about lisa.. its not his style to write about relationships that actually happened!!

  • @TheCumeanSibyl Cept this song was written before they met... lol.

  • @itsgian When was this song written? Never seen anything saying it was written before they met.. They both worked n the album together which was his first without his band.

  • @TheCumeanSibyl Yeah this song was written in the mid-90's... By Damien. Lisa is a vocalist and Damien is an artist. I don't see how anyone could want to not work with this genius. It's definitely her loss.

  • @MistaJubbJubb He kicked her out...?

  • @MistaJubbJubb I think it's everybody's loss. Their performances together were amazing.

  • @TheCumeanSibyl wow what an analysti, you ve never actually met them and you can find this out just reading between the lines of their songs, i'm impressed, can you tell us what they used to have for breakfast too?

  • @jeffreylebowsky Yeah, I feel kind of bad about that... of course I don't know a thing about them, except that Damien is an incredibly talented artist and one of my favourite musicians. They're both such expressive performers it's hard not to have an emotional response, and I typed it out without thinking about it. My apologies to both of them if they ever read it! But since you asked, I'd bet Damien had toast/coffee, Lisa muesli/fruit ;) heh.

  • @TheCumeanSibyl

Not only like singers but also like boyfriends!

  • @TheCumeanSibyl wow really. that makes me sad. that's why the song is so great cause its real to them

  • @TheCumeanSibyl yes ur the only perso who thinks that, rice is a wandring A hole, fuck him, rock on the thefinal fence!! 2001

  • HEART BRING

  • this has been one of my favorite performances captured by film for years now. my god, it just fills your soul with everything that can possibly be good about music. truly remarkable, it's a shame lisa and damien no longer perform together. they made such an astonishingly great duet.

  • Thank GOD Rappers don't go to Abbey Road to record. That would disgrace Abbey Road.

  • @hotgluefingerboard11 some rap is just as deep as this music..

  • @lillea18 keyword: some. But the majority of rap artists today rap about sex, drugs, and money.

  • Comment removed

  • @hotgluefingerboard11 Mate, actually, only a small percentage of rap is about these simplistic things. It's just, that small percentage is what gets aired on the tele and the radio, making it seem like thats all that exists. A vast majority of rap comes from artists who were compelled to speak their hearts. It's all about where you look, and when you listen. Aside from that, this song is beautiful, and I find it hard to appreciate your elitist view while listening to it.

  • @ambidextrosity alright, fair enough

  • This was the best rendition of this song ever made. There was no outside world, only that moment. They were in another dimension. The magic was so deafening, and yet, you probably could have heard a pin drop in the room during the climax.

  • This type sings with the soul

  • Anyone know where to download this version?
