OK I have a prob with VLC....I am using win 7...Before when I used VLC as my default player, it would make my toolbar icons all "VLC traffic cones"....Now i don't make it my default player....But now it does something really strange...When I install VLC, and i click on any icon like excel, word, etc on my toolbar, VLC opens up....Word, excel, etc. doesn't open...Only VLC opens up ?? Any fix ?
Hmm...VLC on my PC is acting really weird....I am using win 7 !!! When I install it, all my icons in my desktop turn into small vlc triangles...Recently I installed it, and when I clicked on any of the icon on my desktop taskbar, it will open VLC MEDIA Player only !!!! REALLY STRANGE !!!
Besides you're talking crap about a dvd stream eating all the bandwidth... a dvd has typically a bitrate around 5Mb/s, a full hd bluray has 40Mbit/s maximum. The ethernet has a bandwidth of 100Mb/s and Wlan 54Mb/s so where is the problem? Am i missing something here wat :D you can't be serious ^^
That is absolutely not the simpliest way to play movies over lan. You could just share the movie file over wlan or lan. Rightclick the file and go to properties. Seriously don't make things harder that they are. Ofc streaming is the right solution if you want to play the movie in another computer which is not in the same lan.
Yes, well what would have been nice is for you to show the cllient IP address and the server IP address and then do what you did, BUT you skipped the important parts and I am still unable to do what you did.. and its not just your video clip. LOL
@nexus6pris Yes, like it's some kind of secret! Grrr, still struggling with this one, it's sooo simple yet no-one will show us! What's the big secret? Plus they recently updated VLC so the screenshots are different on this than mine. I'm off to download an old version and try again.
i have been using windows 7 for over a month in a half, and use tversity all the time to stream to my ps3......and i use the homegroup option as well....without any problems

trick is to use UDP on your "server" and the IP address you enter is the address of the "client", or the system you want to watch the stream on.
