I find the steed stone the best standing stone because you get an extra 100+ carrying capacity and if your wearing heavy armor it doesn't affect running at all. Also, when you upgrade stamina it increases your carrying capacity so you should upgrade stamina if you do pick up lots of items (like me :D)
