I think he is really singing, not lip singing. For example go to 1:04 and the lyric whisky and liquorice it different they any other recording that I have. This is a really great performance.
Check out the other "New Mistake" performance.. it's NATIONALLY TELEVISED!! The video doesn't say it but I know 'cause I used to have it on VHS!!! haha. Shown on ABC as the: Battle of the Bands, back in 1993. You have to re-enter Jellyfish New Mistake and scroll down for the "rare" performance. ENJOY!!!!!
It took forever to get a live version of this song on here. Best song, EVER! Thanks for the post!!! Best fucking lyrics and melody! I can't hear it enough!!
at first i thought, man, they are playing this great... then i realized that they are doing this to a backing track... which kinda bums me out cause i always heard jellyfish never used any backing tracks... the vocals and backing vocals are real, but the music is dubbed... weird.

@trexmegatron1 Nah, you can tell all throughout that the music is actually the track from the record. The little production points and string swells, extra percussion, the mix... you can't recreate it that closely even with partial backing tracks. This must have been a top-of-the-pops type show where they were asked to just sing over prerecorded music and pretend to be playing. I'll admit that Andy does a great job of faking the drums, but you're not actually hearing him play.
This is a good quality production to a group that has sadly faded well before it's time. With the fast paced melody and cerebral lyrics, it is hard not to enjoy this tune . kudos on the good find, great band.

@thebonedaddio - exactly what I noticed, the lack of stress on the word "Whiskey"
