in korea when you are born you are 1 year old and after the new year even if it is only 3 days later you are 2 years old and so on. they go off the new year. so most perple ask what year you werer born so thay can calculate your age so they can speak to you porperly. so basicly thaty count every year you have seen so like i was born in 95 so i am 18 in korea
