Thanks for posting brother, always loved this song and coudl'nt remember who made it, takes me back to these kinda songs, Jay And The Americans, Come A LITTLE BIT CLOSER, AND Vehicle's smokie and the Bandits stuff kick off the races now
#9pop,1971.like this one.my first copy of this on 45 was in 1985 when i found it at a yard sale.the record was cracked and wouldn't play right.found a better copy in 1990.novelty song classic.
Daddy Dewdrop is a pseudonym for an American songwriter named Dick Monda ,backed up by some studio musicians, including Tom Hensley and Butch Rillera Monda had written the song "Chick-A-Boom" for the cartoon, Sabrina and the Groovie Goolies. The song was re-recorded and distributed by Sunflower Records, and released a full album of novelty based tunes, including "Chick-A-Boom" and was retitled "Chick-A-Boom (Don't Ya Jes' Love It)". WIKIPEDIA .
@theboyfromxtown I've got the original song on vinyl, but I'd hoped that someone would put it on here. I've found all my other fave's on here so just maybe..! Glad I helped you remember the name, it was great phasing wasn't it?!
@TEMPmichaelhansen If memory serves, there were two versions by Daddy Dewdrop (Dick Monda) - the one used on Sabrina/Groovie Ghoulies (the original version) and this one. Never heard if anyone else remade it, though.
this was a 'groovie goulies' recording, but because of the lyric content this and some under songs was released under daddy dewdrop. It was even in the cartoon music video (Sabrina the teenage witch/Groovie Goulies hour), but parents complained and dropped it from the series. So all and all the GG released a 'clean' LP and whatever 'unclean' songs left went under the name DD.
I love it! :))))

After listening to this song, I went to my room, picked up my Playboy featuring Barbie Benton and went to work.

I taught my grandson this chorus while coming down stairs on his rear end. He would sing along from step to step lol

Anyone got the version by Captain Skidmarks? More raunchier. Came out in 1971 I think on the Pye label.

I have that version. I loved the phasing in it.
I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the group so thanks for the reminder, cos now I can find it.
