  • I was at this game, sitting on the playing floor under the announcer's table with my friend Rick Creager. We were in 7th grade at the time. When Rick Samuelson saved the inbounds pass, he fell on the table we were sitting under. We ran out on the

court into the absolutely wild crowd. I will never forget that experience.

  • First of all, I'm from Vancouver so I wouldn't know. My question is how prestigious is winning the state championships? I always hear people admire state champions.

  • What I remember most about that team was meeting Reg Gast at District track meet the following season in Norfolk and being impressed with his 'White' letter sweater...only State Champs could order white ones, he was a class guy, we had a blast even though the weather was lousy, (rainy, windy and cold) 'Scott' RIP

ps., I played for Omaha Central and we defeated Lincoln East in '74 for our first title in 62 years, our fans stormed the floor much like East's did...indeed, hs ball was great!!

  • I was there and I will never forget the shot. I did remember it being from nearer half court. I'm very sad today to hear about the passing of Scott Copple, he was a friend and one of the best passing quarterback ever. It's not fair for him to have gone so young.

  • Sumner Edward "Scott" Copple III, 56, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday (2/3/10). He was born on November 14, 1953 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Sumner Edward II "Ed" & Mary (Sinclair) Copple. Scott was a professor at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

  • OMG, I was at the game at the old Barn. I was up in the rafters near where the ball was being taken out of bounds. I remember we were all thinking Overtime and this amazing play took place in the blink of an eye. I think the crowd was able to raise the roof about 2 foot after that amazing play ended. Thanks to whabadoo for posting.
