  • i have a musicman stingray with a maple neck and fretboard (like the cream one in the background) , can i definatly use the ernie ball wonder wipes on it?

  • How long does he leave the wonder wipe on? 10 mins 15 mins? before using the paper towel?

  • IF you can get shit out of your fretboard with paper, you havent played enough.

  • SHOOP DA WOOP

  • What´s the best product, Murphy Oil Soap Hard Multi-Use Wood Cleaner Spray that he uses on video or Murphy Oil Soap Hard Wood Floor Cleaner?

  • ok,so i will buy an ernie ball music man stingray soon,i am buying one with a maple fretboard,i want a gloss finish fretboard,if the bass doesn't come with the gloss finish, can i apply the gloss myself?

  • That dude doesn't look like a guitar player, but it's obvious he's a tech of sorts.

  • 2:56 "whipe off all the axis" Nice subliminal advertising bud.

  • lol ernie ball wonder wipe is nothing but a baby wipe from johnsons or as us Uk folks know "a swiffer wipe"

  • fuck all that cleaning and polishing shit. a guitar should be left battered and beaten.

that's character. nothing more sexy than a beaten up tele taking some more beating on the road!

  • would it be wise or unwise to use a disinfectant wipe on your fretboard?

  • gaffer tape?

    don't use that

  • What would you advise for cleaning a maple fretboard?

  • @guitarwinder

    use naphtha lighter fluid

  • is it okay to get the wonder wipes stuff on the strings?

  • How could it seal in the oil from the soap when you sanded it after the soap?

  • terrible camera focus the whole time. this video sucks

  • sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you know if your neck is finished? I have a highway one american strat with rosewood fingerboard.

  • ok libertyballs! calm down you obviously feel the need to post your comment!must be sitting waiting for the perfect video!wow ..do you feel a 1000% better

  • sanding? are you nutts?i have been playing my axis for years and i would never do that..i really dont think that is a smart thing..i guess after you buy all there shit a couple of years you may have to by another one of there guitars due to sanding the neck,,sounds nutts to me,,i could be wrong

  • my neck needs a good sanding.. its saturated with my hand juices :P feels pretty terrible to play at the moment

  • You obviously have never put 1000 grit on the back of your neck... it doesn't hurt it at all and it plays about 1000% better,

  • @dbm5150 No, but it should have been wet-sanded, not dry-sanded. There's no finish on the neck, therefore all a light sanding does is removed the layer of finger oils that invariably build up over time.

However, that said and with proper maintenance (like wiping the neck and strings down after you finish playing), even this sanding can be avoided.

  • i think if the neck is very dirty what you need is the oil soap but usually what i've heard just the gunstock oil and wax. sanding is not recommended even at their website but if you get dirt into the guitar's neck you have to sand it out which i REALLY dont like. thos jp6 guitars are to dream for. recommend washing your hands before any use of the neck and just clean it after use with a clean paper towel and when the time is right use the gunstock.

  • Sanding the neck to clean it?

This guy is a moron. If I sanded my neck every time I cleaned it, it would be gone by now.

  • Is cleaning your guitar really this complicated? ...kinda seems like propaganda to get us to buy ernie ball cleaning shit.

  • Oh my gosh....I absolutely just have to go get some Ernie Ball-Wipes now....

    ; )

  • @UglyScukuggly Murphy's Oil Soap is not an Ernie Ball product - you get it at the grocery store. Birchwood-Casey Gunstock oil is available in sporting goods stores. Sandpaper can be purchased in the hardware store. If you don't want to use their "wonder wipes" then get some lemon oil or orange oil. BTW, this doesn't seem that complicated to me.

  • @zenradio

linseed oil is a good alternative to gun stock oil

  • @davey4557 linseed is not a good alternative. Linseed oil never ever dries some people finish there ibanez 7620 in it to give it a natural look it doesnt dry. Use lemon oil and naptha.

  • @UglyScukuggly Unfinished necks need a little bit more maintenance than a standard gloss neck, while it's not necessary, it can help with playability. As for the fretboard stuff, if you aren't cleaning yours a few times a year, I'd hate to see it.

  • @UglyScukuggly Well this is not actually a "cleaning", it is more of annual conditioning, just to make sure the wood is in good shape. Obviously if you sand the neck every month after 5 years you wouldn't have any neck to play on!.

    Cheers :)

  • fuck me what a fuck on.just rub back of the neck down with dry cloth after use.and use some lemon oil fretboard cleaner for the neck.

  • crap.

  • what the f*ck is oil soap.

  • oily soap

    really

  • google it tool

  • how often should this be done? I don't like the idea of sanding my neck down to nothing...

  • how long should I leave the conditioner of the wonder wipe son for??

  • Wipe on for

  • ahh nice and clean ... or you can throw the whole thing in a tub of water ... naah, just this fine

  • Come on, what about us Maple fretboard users!!!

  • We're screwed dude, just found out there aint much you can do, just wipe it down heaps!!

  • Yeah I know. I was told the best thing for Maple necks is just spit and a cloth.

  • thats not true.

the maple board neck is the same material of he back of JPM's neck. I don't know they don't say to us that we can use the same procedure to our unfinished maple necks.

  • Cool!

Had no idea this was the Official Music Man youtube page?

  • Ok, after your done. how do you start to restring and hold the bridge in place.
