  • his wife lol very nice tank m8, a tad bit overstocked tho

  • really liked your videos. Stumbled across them when I was re-searching the Osaka. Couldnt get one in the end. I really like the way you've done it.

Was in Mecico last month and it reminds me of the "Cenotes" they have their. The only thing missing is some turtles and catfish!

What have you used for substrate and do you have any tips on aquascaping.

I understand alot about fish and water chemisty but a total beginner on plants. Would like to see you do a video for beginners on plants

  • Great video's love all of them , im setting up a planted aqurium in february and wonder if you could give some tips on planting as your tanks looks really healthy , i am also from the uk :)

  • You have an amazing tank Vado. Your fish are looking healthy and happy!

I really want to know what your water parameters are. It seems like you got the right water chemistry with all the fish spawning. :)

  • @maxcruiser Thanks for that Max! - I tinker on with it every day.. :) Water is now a stable ph 7.2 /GH 16/ KH 5/ N02 (trace..) I havent got a phosphate test kit or Oxygen test kit but suspect there is phosphates present as I have recently developed an algae problem that I am battling with shorter photoperiod adjustments and more water changes. it's slow but it's working I think, I have also employed iron resin to help remove the (Suspected..) phosphates.

  • @ToYxRIPP3R That's right! They are neon tetras (Blue stripe and half red line marking..) and I have about 25 that are always patrolling the tank, they are a hardy little fish that have beautiful coloring and perfect community tank temperament.. They eat powdered food and love frozen gamma'd bloodworm too! - They are often confused with the a similar fish (That I dont have..) the Cardinal Tetra which has the same blue stripe and a full red line down its side beneath the lateral line.

  • what are the blue fish tetras ??

  • Vado - Just got my Fluval Osaka 260! Spent the day setting it up (per your comments on building the base, and not being handy, I paid the aquarium store to put it together). Hope to add some hardy plants, and hope the cichlids don't munch them up - How many hours a day do the lights need to be on for the plants? I believe my kit came with the same lights.

  • @kithornt Congratulations on getting the tank! You wont regret it, I still have mine of course and it takes up a large part of my day along with my 2 other smaller tanks. Lighting I would suggest should at first be around 8 hours.. I know it sounds like thats a short time, but there are several factors you must allow for. Algae will always grow very fast in a new tank and shortening the light (Photo) period will make it more difficult to establish itself. 12 mid day to 8 pm? Is fine try that.

  • @VadoVoodoo Thank you! I've got some plants in now; maybe the next two weeks will give them time to settle before I put in the fish. Then, the salad bar is open.

  • howz pogue havent seen him for ages lol my tank would have been running for 6 months at the end of may. i will keep updating. james :)

  • @jameswmoseley94 ah james sorry I havent answered was suffering from burnt out video card-itis. So the PC has been offline for a bit. :) Pogue was sold on to a nice young lady with a far bigger setup than I could afford, she works in the local petshop, and has him in a 400 gallon pond at her home, where I'm told he's very happy. :) He had just outgrown my tank altogether and was devouring the odd little un. lol

  • The tank looks great vado, what are you feeding the plants they look very healthy.

  • @dickiedocker Dickie, aologies too read my excuse the above, the PC died on me. I use dried ferts for all my plants, and have recently installed a DIY Co2 Injector/Diffuser into the tank consisting of a Fire extinguisher bottle, bubble counter etc. Easy enough to get set up and running once I'd bought the expensive regulator and I test the water's Ph reguarly and measure the KH too and from that I can (Using a chart..) get an accurate Co2 Count. Plants use Co2 to grow under good lighting!! :)
