Every kid (not just in this vid, also in real life) I see riding always 'kicks' the horse. When I'm riding I 'squeeze' with my leg, not kick. I don't understand why kids are always kicking, is it because their legs are to small or something? I can't remember me kicking when I was a child.

@saminiky its because your not actually meant to squeeze with your legs, beacause if you do your body tenses up. what you do, is, nudge slightly and gently with yur heels, if they don't move, nudge again, harder, if they don't move, give them a small kick,(small!)and, if they don't respond immediatley, smack once, reasnobly hard behind your leg. it sounds like a long process, but its not actually if you do it right. hope this answers your question!:)

@MountMustang I wrote 'squeeze' between '' because I didn't knew the english word for what I was trying to say, I speak Dutch. Now that I've looked up 'nudge' I realise that was the word I was looking for. I know how to ride, I've been riding for 14 years, it would be a shame if I didn't knew how to activate my horse. My question actually was why kids are 'flapping' (hope that is an english word :-D) their legs.

i have a shetlandpony too, and i become 16 this year xD

she never used to be a racing pony, she should have become a completely normal pony. but it didnt work. she is faster than the ponys in this video, even if she is NOT professional. wooo patty would kick their ass :D

but thats not so good, cause when we do things like jumping or riding behind another horse, she gets crazy and, eh, we call that bonus rounds... xD

eep some people were kicking the shetlands way to hard. for what i have learned, from experience mostly, is the if you kick them hard like that, it can hurt their sides really bad. poor ponies
