  • Remembering you today on the 49th anniversary of your death.

  • It had to be on an NBC show or station as they were the only ones broadcasting in color at that time.

  • If It Ain't On The Menu Theres Another Cafe

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Excellent video clip! Great performance by one the MOST UNDER RATED of all.

Hawkshaw had a superb voice and talent. And married to Jean Shepard...(the greatest female vocalist ever). Everyone should check out their work, you won't be disappointed. And yes, Jean was widowed by that plane crash with Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas. (March '63).

  • was this the guitar that was reported to have stood erect in the ground after the crash?

  • @purttygirl82 Yes it was

  • Very underrated Country singer. I'd put in in the same level as Hank Sr. ansd Webb Pierce

  • Hi,real golden oldies, may be a bit old,but better than some of this new country sound, which is not country.

  • Nice !! A real sweet guitar sound here !! Good vocal too. Great post.

  • While taking a class once, the teachers name was Susan, we happened to go to the same place at lunch. She had mentioned her husband had died in a plane crash, and I thought how odd. She never told me who she was, very sweet lady I soon learned from another teacher, she was Hawks daughter, and the wife of Randy Hughes. That explained ALOT as to why her husband had died in a plane crash. Susan if you ever read this, I never forgot you! How sad to lose your father and husband at the same time.

  • Randy Hughes was married to Cowboy Copas's daughter, not Hawkshaw's So there was just a little mix up there. Hawk, has one adoped daughter Marlene, and two sons.

  • So true! I didnt even catch my mistake, yes it was Cowboy Copas, I tend to mix them up all the time, probably because their style was so similar and they were really before my time. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • You are very welcome Debbie.

  • So was Susan teh daughter of Jean Shepard???

  • Not that I am aware of... To my knowledge, Cowboy Copas was only married once... But I dont know all about that.... so my answer would be no. Someone else might know for sure. But doubtful that Jean was her mother. In fact, when I think of the age of Susan, I really really doubt it.

  • Sorry Hawksaw Hawkins was married to Jean Shepard not Cowboy Copas...

  • Yep thats what I said, Jean couldnt have been married to Cowboy, see above entry.....

  • @DOLLYWAYNE38 No jean Shepard had all boys. She and hawk had 2 boys and her and husband benny Birchfield had 3 boys and Benny had one son from a previous marriage

  • Hawk was a great enternainer and friend, he will always be missed.

  • Put grand ole opry into search at Amazon. com
