i wanted to comment on your other vdo (ishtarbellydancer doing polynesian dance) but you had disabled the txt comments.. well im glad i could comment here.. what i wanted to tell you was that ..iLOVE your vdos.. theyre very helpful and fun!! yet TIRING! hahahahaa
hey thanks for your comments - very kind and glad you find it a little useful, I did this in such a rush..., but yes, lots of hard work and sore thighs doing these movements huh? LOL, happy dancing to you...
yeah, I disabled it because I got tired of the nasty people attacking me.... so that was the easiest thing to do ... :-) btw I am part polynesian ... :-)
i just need to get used to it huh? heheheheee i LOVE the styles and types of polynesian dances. growing up and raised in Honolulu, HI.. i was exposed to lots of hula and polynesian dances! i think its awesome and lovely! :0)
thanks ! take a look at the video response above .. the song info is in the vid description or in the comments (older comments).. .sorry, i don't remember off by heart... :-)
hey, ur video was really great... i really love this style of dance. i was wondering if you have a video showing just the feet/leg work? I'm a slow learner and i don't think im getting it right. thank you very much if you do. if u dont, its ok though - dont want to impose >.>
thanks for your comments, it is hard for me to get time to play with vids for utube, but if u look at tamure, otea, hula, vids on utube, there are thousands you can see the feet, and movements, as their skirts are short. good luck
you are right though, there is a lot of movement in the feet in polynesian dance. however, your feet can be flat or on tippy toes doing the fast hip circles.. u need to practise for hours each day for u to get good at it.
hi, i loved the dance....im a huge fan of bellydances and tamure, i tried doing it and after a few seconds my thighs were killing me ...was i doing it wrong????
ah...probably doing it right, as you will develop super strong thighs doing these movements, it is because your knees are bent, so the rectus femoris muscle, is worked hard. after time it will get strong and u won't even notice anything.. always give yourself some warmups and stretches..good luck ;-) hope to see u doing this post a vid
Impressive stuff! I'm a fan of the style of dance since living in Hawaii a few years ago. You've mastered the dance it seems! I look forward to seeing more of your vids. Keep up the good work!
thanks to the wizard! I don't dance this form anymore, only bellydance these days... do you like bellydance? After all it is the root of most dance forms including polynesian dances as it came from Mesopotamia/now middle east thousands of years ago
You are more than welcome Ishtar! :) Yes..I am a huge fan of belly dancing as well as Polynesian dance. You're right, quite a lot of styles of dance can trace their roots back to Belly Dance or at the very least trace specific elements and/or components back to it. I'm glad you're still belly dancing, but am curious why you chose to stop the Polynesian style? You're quite good at it insofar as I can tell. :)
well, there are so many things to master in bellydance and props etc, that i don't have the time to do anything with polynesian anymore... and i have too many other hobbies, like sewing, gardening and poetry writing etc, that i guess i just put them all first now. but thanks for being interested. have a happy day!! I am off to my garden now that i have finished teaching a bellydance class... :-)
Thanks for the reply and explanation Ishtar. :) You are nothing if not well rounded. Actually we have that in common as I am a bit of a poet/writer and have the inclination to do everything at once too. lol Best of luck on your new focus. Looking forward to your next vid. Signed, Wiz
Also Ishtar, I forgot to ask. Do you have a recommendation of a good CD that has the drum solos. I have been shopping online for music to purchase, but not sure what to look for. Thank you again. :)
Thank you for the great video, I bellydance, but would love to learn Tamure. I hope I am calling that by the correct name. I do not know where to find instruction where I am :)
Hey thanks fresian06, yes Tamure is correct... when time allows, i will post a vid here and there on tamure moves and how to use your feet and legs etc...bit pushed with my other work at present and show to organise coming up...so, keep your eyes peeled and your hips on stand-by..LOL
Simply amazing, thats all I can really say! I love it, love it, love it! I'm going to practice like crazy and post a video once i get up the nerve lol...thank you so much once again! I owe my future amazing hula moves all to you! lol
thanks Dnicole7 - I did this for you and I hope to see your vid on youtube when you have practised like crazy!! :-) you may like to make a very fluffy hip belt, as it accentuates the hips in polynesian dance. Plus something to shake!
Im familar with bellydance :)

@IshtarBellydancer Have you ever thought of doing a hula/bellydance fusion performance? It would be great to see on YouTube someday.

but the best is to find Tahitian drums. Just search 'Tahiti songs or drums'. I hope you find something you like :-) have fun.
