  • hello mate i was lifting in the gym like normal then 2 weeks later my gym run out and i was working out at home doing push up dips curls with my lighter weights and shoulders legs with weights light etc going for high reps.. when i come back to the gym i had but on hell of alot of strenth i was doing push ups until i cant do no more when i was out of the gym

  • Heavy singles are a great technique for gaining strength, not so much for hypertrophy though seeing as how these guys are bodybuilders and most guys commenting on here just want bigger muscles. But Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 for Powerlifting gives a great template for incorporating singles into a strength training program as far as how much weight to use and when to use them. There's even a template for people who want their workouts to be geared more towards gaining size while still getting stronger.

  • so if i can bench 145lbs (65kg) for 10 reps and 3 sets,

    giving a 1RM of about 192 lbs (87kg).

    i could try shocking beforehand with one rep of 170lbs (77kgs).

    Am keen to try this.

  • I respect you as Marines, as I was, but you simplified this to much and need to research the conjugate training method. Light weight speed work in conjunction with max effort will increase strength and push you through sticking points encountered at the novice to intermediate training level allowing you to train with heavier loads and increased intencity.

  • yhe i do that in hokey, we practice with iron balls, and then after a while we change it to normal balls. the balls get lighter as hell

  • I've noticed this in general. My second set is always my best and highest repped. It's because the first set kinda shocks my nervous system in similar ways just not as much. 1st set is always kinda funky for me, but by the second shit feels ripe and ready!

  • @MagicCryo I have been using 9 o.z of cold water and stiring it for 3 minutes, I don't have a shaker cup. I haven't tried a blender yet.

  • @MrJ97C before the exercise but u can do it before each set if that helps u gain strength

  • Theshodymiah-they saying to max out on just one rep..then do the tech that they're recommending to see if you can do more reps than what you max out at..(the one rep)

  • Thanks guys, I noticed this trick a while back but I wasn't sure if it worked just for me. My body got so accustomed to doing a heavy weight that my regular workout felt easy.

  • What you mean by a rep. is a set? Like I do a full 12 to 15 set with lighter weight then do one with my normal weight?

  • genius! so basically do a 1rm then go into a regular weight i usually do for sets

  • @geoff0707 less than a 1rm by 20-30lbs! The full 1RM would make you too fatigued

  • @yahvinah1 What if you were doing arm curls then? i do about 25 6 reps so my 1rm is 29. so how would i deduct weight from that?

  • @bigchicken24 it's the same thing bro.. micronized, will be "more broken"into pieces, so easier to absorb.. also it's only a hype.. and uh.. most monos are micronized.. being micronized doesnt make it a different type o creatine.. different types are: cee, hcl, phosphate, kre alkalyn.. etc
