My friends' cat has gone missing as have 3 others on her street in Wellesley. They've also been spotted in Franklin. They're strong and agile and can take down a fair sized dog.
@CAMEOAGENCY depends on what you mean by "fair sized". they couldnt handle something the size of a german shepard/belgian malinois. a chihuahua or pomeranian would be more their speed.
@ohjeeeeez They are an endangered species!!! Yesterday I saw one for the first time in my life. I was concerned because of its reputation for violence so I contacted animal control. The officer said I should feel privileged to have seen one. It is a good idea to accompany smaller dogs and cats while fishercats are around. It is against the law to kill one. We are eliminating their habitat... it is the fault of humans that they are forced to survive by hunting in populated neighborhoods.
Your pets are invasive species and do not belong here. Fisher cats are native and have every right to be here.
You could try to control your pets. The only purpose they serve is to annoy your neighbors anyway.
Nahh! What am I saying? That's not very 'Merican now is it? Tie your dog to a post in your back yard. Let it bark its fool head off day and night. And let's shoot them thar fishers right back to near extinction. Now thats sportsmanship! Thats the 'Merican way! F Yeah!
Thanks for the video, I was told they can climb really well. Not that this makes me happy as we are surrounded by woods.
One has been hanging around my place for a few days. It came within 30 feet of my house where my dog (small and fluffy) was laying out. I saw it again today hanging out at the edge of the property,
.
I suspect that it thinks my dog is an easy snack, so now she's not going outside by herself. If he comes back in the yard and I get a clean shot, I'm taking it.
We have just spotted a fisher cat this week in Centennial Park in Wellesley, right behind our house. Last night, it was screaming for 5 minutes, and woke us both up!
yeah man a lot in massachusetts yo these things scream like a baby crying scary shit also they eat house cats. my boys mom has 5 cats and they live near the woods and 1 night 1 of the cats was let out never returned we took a walk in the woods and we found cat fur which we think was from the cat
Bullshit my ass! My dad saw one 50 feet from his house! We have had either a fisher or a fox run around our tent screaming for hours! They live in the Pinebush in NY also, which is surrounded by malls, Highways and 2 major cities!
If you don't think they will kill your cat, bring him here at tie him with a leash to a tree.... Do you remember the scene with the goat in Jurassic Park?...
my dog just chased a fisher across my neighbor's pasture tonight, thing screamed the whole time.. *twitch* dumb dog lucky she didn't lose an eye or worse.
man i live in saugus, right on the lynn woods, and damn, i hear these things EVERY night, they're very haunting, very creepy. between them and the foxes and raccoons...
those things will kill pretty much everything around them, people's cats are always getting eaten by them, ironically, my cat killed a baby fisher cat once
im from palmer and i keep hearing one my freind told me what it was and wanted to see more that thing makes a crazy noise hard ta sleep hearing it sounds evil
I Live In The Southern Worcester Country, And I Have Fisher Cats In My Backyard...They Are Nasty Animals...In The Summer, Almost Everynight, I Hear Then Catching and Killing Things...Like Squirrel...
I also live south of worcester, when these things scream, it sounds like all hell has broke loose. I actually heard one last night. I was outside, and out of nowhere, the horrifying scream appears. It stays in your head for a while too.
Great footage! Not
