Of all the SMT games, this is my favorite. Persona 3 and 4 may have been more 'fun' but this game is just so incredibly high quality that it can't be ignored. This is the "2001: A Space Odyssey" of videogames.

when i first played a persona game, i decided to check out about the series. i played persona 3 fes, so i was rather surprised that the other games had you fight and sometimes recruit actual demons, instead of fusing personas. so im guessing that this game is similar to the earlier Shin Megami Tensei games outside of the persona series. maybe ill get it. on a side note, this is one of the few M-rated DS games i have seen. what does Shin Megami Tensei even mean?

@WSXnTNA4Life from what a friend told me, there's a black sphere in Antarctica thats growing day by day, so world governments send scientists to see wtf is going on, and there's demons running around. Those weird suits allow them to talk to demons and summon them and I think some other stuff.

Love this trailer's music; reminds me of an 80's slasher flick with the ominous 4 beat sounds playing that progresses into a volatile musical piece....which btw is the music you hear when fighting a non-boss enemy. I think most regular gamers will be turned off by the first person dungeon hunting but the main appeal should be the actual gameplay which is superb based on RPG elements.  I can't get enough of fusing my demons, leveling them up, and fusing them again to get a specific skill.

Any and all veteran fans of the series have fallen in love with the decision to return SMT to its' roots with the first-person / menu exploration. That's how SMT was born and raised, it went to study abroad with Persona, trying to appeal to mainstream dumb RPG weeaboo gamers, and now, with Strange Journey, it's showing how much it has grown.

Even though I'm just another veteran fan, I'm proud of ATLUS for this one.

@Jamick98Geass There always has been a gun element. It's appeared in Imagine, Digital Devil Saga, and Shin Megami Tensei I and II. Though this is based off of regular Shin Megami Tensei (not Persona or Digital Devil Saga), Imagine and SMT I and II qualify (Imagine is an MMO, but it occurs between SMT I and II). I recall Nocturne is supposed to be SMT III, but I haven't played that one yet.

As for this, this falls on the main series so you can find SMT 1 and 2 on emulators and translated, and I don't know about Nocturne.
