They were not swimming. This family was canoeing down the river at a time when the water level was too high. There are many people that canoe down the Flint River at this location, a beautiful stretch between Flushing & Montrose. Don't judge the Flint River unless you have taken the opportunity to explore it.
Those people are idiots for trying to canoe down the flint river when the water level was that high. Especially to take a young kid with them! They should have their heads examined.
