only thing i would suggest is (and this is my opinion feel free to disregard) maybe use a thicker pick as the one your using gives off a bit too much twang for that particular song

I can't stand all these "picks are for noobs" comments. The only difference between a pick and your finger is the sound you get. I play using both, dependent on what suits the song better. Anyone who excludes playing with a pick because they think it's noobish is foolish and has no right to play a bass.

i find it alot easier when i play this song instead of sliding so far up and down the neck use the 3rd string

i agree that it would be easier to play, but if you listen to the bass track of the song carefully, you can hear a lot of sliding going on... greg k (the bass player) also slides a lot in concert.. i rarely see him use the 3rd string, but almost always the 1st and 2nd. but yes, you're way would make it easier to play the song, but i dont think it would sound as good.
