Reading the bible doesn't make you a christian. Rahab who protected the spies has never and yet some reason she protected the men. God praised her for protecting these men.

I think what it really mean to be a christian is all about relationship with God. Church, bible, is only part of it. Believing God's free gift because you know that you are a sinner is when you become a Christian, but doesn't elminate the sin ful nature completely.
