  • i cant hear myself when i talk into it.

  • Whats better a Behringer C1U or a Samson C01U?

  • @yusuf1608 the Behringer probably. although both are pretty damn good.

  • @lmull3 The C1U is cheaper also! If any what are the drawbacks to the mic?

  • wow. not bad... looking to get a new mic for my podcast and this looks to fit the bill. gonna check these out. thanks!

  • @danz409 these were advertised for podcasting specifically as one of the things you can do with it, so, this thing would work damn well for that

  • Could you record stereo with that?

  • @winfr34k with 2 mics :), if not... no

  • PLEASE HELP A NOOB RECORDER! i have a question that nobody seems to answer, and that is what mic is better, the samson c01u or the shure sm57? and to what extent? please reply thanks!

  • @CircuitSetSail It's not a question of which is better it's what you want to use them for. They are two completely different mics and you can't really compare them. The Shure would usually be used for live vocals whereas the Samson is better for recording voice or acoustic guitar etc.. You just need to work out which is better for whatever it is you want to do with it.

  • @Saunbo thanks! haha i know what i want to do now

  • its not a 1 channel mic. You just have to balance the sound out in control panel. I have this exact same mic, and had the same problem. Just go to your control panel > click hardware sound > manage audio devices > then you find your device and right click and then > properties and then you balance out the sound. I use this mic for voice acting and lots of other stuff, and it works perfectly. Probably the Best Mic I've Bought! Everyone should buy this Mic, with a pop filter ofcourse.

  • just wondering if this would still sound good in a room without perfect acoustics?

  • @faceless232 It's a condenser, so it picks up mostly stuff nearby. I think.....so the acoustics don't matter that much.

  • @HipCovers mmm, not like this, condensers record more details in the sound, and about acoustics, its more about being cardioid, hypercardioid, directional, etc...

  • @bestplugins Yeah I didn't really know what I was talking about....but I'm pretty sure it was carderoid (I don't have it anymore)

  • mine is being delivered tomorrow but just wanted to know if anybody has experience recording acoustic guitar through this. how does it come out? :)

  • can i use it for broadcasting through sam broadcaster windows xp

  • is this mic noisy if you use heavy distortion??

  • Very helpful review, thanks Imull3. Whats the stand like that comes with the mic please? Is it sturdy enough to clip a pop shield on it and more importantly is there space in which to clip pop shield on to?

  • that shouldnt be recording in 1 channels. maeks no sense. check yur settings if not this mic is shit

  • ok im a up comeing rapper can i do a rap on this

  • @garzaclick300ent yo take this as an idea the mxl are way better if u dont have a mixer take the mxl 990 usb

and if u have take the the mxl 990

both of them are desame but the mxl 990 usb is for pc' and mac's :P

    i do raps to bro

  • looks like a dildo...

  • can we use this microphone with nuendo in imac???

  • its smells like teen sprit awesome

  • Does the stand come with the mic?

  • bloody hell this sounds great for the price

  • I was thinking of buying this for my vocals in m new song would you recomend it ???

  • im getting a lag on the playback to by headphones when I'm recording vocals. Big problem when I need to listen to myself when I record. anyone have a solution to this problem? I did some research and it seems the USB>DRIVEr has something to do with the lag.

  • i have one and it doesnt just coe out on the left. it coes out on he right and left. why does yours do that.

  • what good is it if it only comes out through the left speaker??

  • since when can you use a condenser mic on an amplifier?

  • @JoeBologna1520 since they were made

  • Did you edit the audio or is it raw?

  • @D12WorldNight i didn't do any processing of it

  • @lmull3 How would you mix vocals(with the Samson C01USB mic)with the music on Sonar 8? Or should I say combine the vocals with music?

  • Tip when recording your face with a video cam-er-uh. Have it point slightly down at your face. All the pro, 1337 vloggers do it. Makes them look supah sexy :)

  • how much is it ?

  • Comment removed

  • i was going to get this mic,

then i went in to the music store and they reccomended me the apex 440.

    so i got it instead.

the apex 440 looks a lot better and is a bit smaller.

also there is a led light within the metal mesh which gives it a cool blue glow in a dark room.

I use it to record my rap vocals, check out my recent videos to see what it sounds like.

Samson c01u is also a great mic.

  • when recording select the number of channels to mono. NOT STEREO - ex.19200 sampling rate and mono channel.

then when saving the audio recording save it as stereo, so that it'll automatically convert the audio into stereo. which means both left and right speakers will be playing the audio.

  • Then, if I were using a Boss br1600 standalone, non-pc-type all in one studio, I wouldn't have any way of plugging this in since it's for computer software only? If so is this mic available in traditional format? Thx for the demo.

  • can you plug in a cammera so your video and audio are in sync...

  • how much is it?

  • @KiddMarqueeBitch I just won a used C01U package on eBay for $51, which is one of the lowest prices you can pay for it, particularly with everything in the package (though I'm not getting the software disc, not an issue for me though).

  • DAMN??! WHy is it MORE ON LEFT CHANNEL??!! it sounds wierd seriously... im sooooooooooooo not gonna buy this >.>

  • If your using it for vocals, or basically any instrument... all you have to do is record in mono...

  • @jtzy23 This is a good thing... It's most likely recorded stereo. So if he were to move his head when he was talking and stuff you could tell. Mono is where it's just equal in both channels. all in all... I would go with stereo ;) You can use it to your advantage

  • @cammyjee it's fully USB powered

  • Does the usb cord cum with it

  • @kkdd657 yes indeed it does

  • Does the usb cord come with it....

  • @kkdd657 yes. they'd be crazy not to, lol. i would've given that a major minus in the review.

  • @lmull3 Does the pack come with a Pop filter"?

  • @lxdannydxl100 it doesn't. you'd have to get one seperately

  • you need to sit further away when you talk, or get a pop filter :P

  • cool video mate

i was searching for reviews of usb mic's and found it

this costs $135 on ebay in AUD

i need a better mic true

    should i buy this?

  • @OSyTim if you need studio quality, it's great for that. it's basically made for podcasting and voice in general, so for what you do it would probably do pretty well. i'd suggest getting a pop filter if the mic is going to be close to your mouth at all. it's a damn good mic, but if it's overkill, then you could just turn it over and sell it again. i'd suggest getting it simply because it's built like a tank.

  • @lmull3 thanks for the tips mate

yep i know i need one of them mic filters too

  • @OSyTim all too welcome.

  • i have this same mic but i got mines a nice shock mount and stand

  • Would you Say The Mic Would Be Good For Rapping On?

  • can i use this for my boss micro br portable studio?

  • Does it save files in a WMA format?

  • @DontFearTheReaper1 that has nothing to do with the mic, that has to do with the software you use to record so it totally depends on what software you use. the windows sound recorder in windows vista and windows 7 does i think.

  • is it good for singing 2?

  • @HIStoryEMD he said good for vocals

  • @Whatsuptech oh i didn't catch that bit

  • He man, I was wondering; where did you place the mic in regard to the amp? Did you turn your amp up or the mic (what is the sound volume)? Does it pick up distortion well? Lot of questions but I hope you can answer them! Thanks!

  • NIRVANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anyone know if this microphone works with sony acid music studio or sony sound forge audio studio???

  • The sound quality actually sounded really good with the guitar. It seems to have better quality with instruments than vocals for some reason.

  • can you use this mic on a HP windows 7??

  • @spreaditwide13 it's a USB mic. it'll work in almost anything you plug it into.

  • usb condenser mic?? wow.. so does it require phantom power ? need to plug it through a mixer or audio interface? Or just plug it straight to a pc since it is a usb condenser mic without the need of phantom power? if that is so then thats awesome!!

  • @JohnTeoCH USB is actually powered itself, so the power is provided by USB as well as input signal. the only interface needed is a USB port on a computer, but i'm sure USB mixers do exist somewhere. other then that, similar to HDMI, it's just a plug and play sort of thing. plug it in, make it default mic, and let a rip!

  • @lmull3 thanks for the reply. So its very simple, jus plug and play! Gonna save some cash to get one of those~

  • I use the co1u in all of songs! Check out my channel and listen to 'fallin' over' to hear what it sounds like! EVERYTHING IN MY SONGS IS MADE IN GARAGEBAND!

  • i had that shit wasnt bad at all 4 tha price mad clear vocals

  • Man, I'm getting this microphone tomarrow and i'm sooooo siked!!

  • 420 USB mega bit quality :p

  • is it compatible with Vista operator?

how did you spent on it ? what came in the box?

  • @NtvChannel Vista operator?....you mean Windows Vista "operating system"? yes, it is. microphones have such simple architecture electronically that you can plug them into pretty much any computer from 2000+ and it'll work. the price i can't quite remember, think it was around 100 or 150 at the time. was definately on sale tho. in the box was the mic in its packaging and a CD with some pretty terrible software on it, lol.

  • not a fan of this mic, podcasting is about as far as i'd take it, purely due to the amound of compression you can use when broadcasting over FM and get away with it. but for a reasonable price id be looking towards Audio Technica, MXL (if you're REALLY strapped for cash), Rode, or if cardioid only doesn't bother you, the AKG C214.

  • Does it work with the Photo booth app on the mac? to record video

  • @FreshVikes it should if it's set as the default mic

  • great review man

    i need this rev..

    chao XD

  • how much cann u get thiis 4 (herd u can get iit 4 lyk £40)

  • i have this mic and i use it to record vocals... it keeps on picking up ALOT of noise and stuff that is not wanted. do you know how i could lower the volume of ir or like the amount of noise it picks up? when i 1st got it, it wouldnt do that. please write back. THANKS!

  • @thearter12 try turning the gain down with the software in your operating system

  • @lmull3 THANKS!! THAT WORKED!! :)

  • @thearter12 it also depends on your pc man if your computer makes alota noise you could have a 400 mic but still hear that stuff

  • If you want to record vocals into Protools ,garage band, sonar, sony acid, etc dont buy this mic the latency is way to high, and your vocals will be off tempo by several miliseconds. I own the mic and like the box says use it for podcasting and recording personal notes etc. I thought i came upon good deal by buying this mic I thought saved tons of cash by not having to buy a audio interface and standard condenser mic, wrong. I'm out a 100$ and I still have to buy a new mic and audio inter..

  • lots of white noise though....

  • Were you using the mic whilst doing this review?

  • dont rape me

  • Thank you for posting this video.. I found it really useful!

    Hope you're doing well. :)

  • just got my mic yesterday, can't wait to start putting it too good use

  • how much was the mic

  • its about $85 you might find it at wal-mart or best buy

  • your not the most cleaver person ive come across

  • @MartyHITD personally, I've never come across a 'cleaver' person.

  • woah that sounds really good for a usb condenser.. but i agree tune the guitar!

  • so your telling all you did was stick the usb cabel to ur computer please write back.

  • yes. audio equipment has been around long enough that the drivers for it are built into the operating system. it's the software you use to record that you gotta think about.

  • fl studio 8 producer edition xxl any good for it?

  • Yea its good i used it for fl studio 8

  • I take that back, I just got to the bit of the video with shine on you crazy diamond - it's ok that he's weird, and he probably is on pills.

  • You might want to watch the whole video before commenting. Common sense is your friend. Dude, there's no need to be a dick, relax. So I'm a little different, that's irrelivant to the video. It just doesn't matter. I made this video over a year ago anyway.

  • in what way do you think you're different?

  • I'm a technology geek, we all have odd quirks, lol.

  • this guy's weird, is he on pills?

  • Yes, I take ADD meds, a shitload of allergy meds, an injection every week for Rheumatoid Arthritis, nosespray for allergies.

  • The reason it is recording more in the left channel is because you need to download the drivers for the mic as it says in the instruction manual XP lol

  • No, the reason is because it is a mono microphone and I was recording in stereo. If it were a driver issue you'd be hearing either nothing at all or distortion. I recorded it with a mac, so there are almost never driver issues with audio devices on mac is x

  • how do you put it togeter ? idk how 2

  • I'll make a video about it

  • what much did u buy it for?

  • i like it, really thinking of buying one, any chance you could do a demo with acoustic guitar? would be very helpfull, thanks

  • I don't own an acoustic guitar unfortunately

  • i just bought a samson C01U usb studio condensor and i am hooking it up when i plug it into the usb slot in the bak of the computer a bubble popps up which says one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfuctioned and windows does not recognize it but it should say found new hardware SAMSON C01U can someone please help me i just need to get this thing working and fast

  • 'windows does not recognize'

    What a surprise.

  • its the computer. mines does that when i plug in my wifi card. lol if my ipod charger isnt plugged in my internet doesnt work..stupid pc's, lol.

  • what does one channel mic mean ?

    good video man

  • one channel mic he means you can only hear it from one speaker the right one only. or left one only. you dont hear it from both speakers.

  • @IceKingXxxRS

Naw, you can hear one channel through both speakers. Thats called mono. Its just a matter of routing the signal in your application.

  • The 3 pronged cable is called XLR

  • i have the same problem as TellTheTruthRecords, when i try recording on audacity its proper quiet, and the sounds quality is affected.

  • ive tried recording using audacity and it sounds like a whisper. ive tried going to "Sound" on the Control Panel And turnig up the volume but its still quiet. HOw CAN i MAKE IT LOUDER?

  • on audacity the panels where the sond waves are shown there are little sliding volume controls on each panel at the left slide these up or down and to make it louder/quieter, also it depends where you place the mic to what your recording, and what mic you are using, if none of that helps then just turn up the speakers lol

  • im havin the same problem!.

  • Use audacity and normalize the sound. There's an option in effects to do so.

  • it is very good quality for the price they are.

im getting my one this week if post is all good :)

  • Ive seen youtube vids of Warren G, Clinton Sparks, and Lil Wayne with the mic.

I 2 own the mic and i get the quality I expect using the correct programs and settings... Ive noticed that some programs make it sound 2 crappy.

  • @EmceeARo what programs do you use? because i cant seem to find any good programs i am happy with using this mic and the co3u

  • which program do you use to record?

  • Sonar Le

  • talk loud...

  • what recording program are you using?

  • 7:00

  • oh thanks i didn't notice that thanks :)

  • you left the input on stereo not mono thats why its only on the left.

  • Yep

  • how come when i hook up mine to my computer it says it usb cannot be read or something like that.?

  • Did you start playing "That Time" by Regina Spekter?

6:20? well it sounded like it

  • i have a question???

    Plez answer back.

    Where could i get it???

    How much would it be???

    JeanaDylan83

  • you could buy it on ebay :)

  • I recommend getting it from zzzounds its around 99 i believe and sometimes free shipping. if you can afford the shock mount, mic stand, and pop filter I also recommend for higher quality and comfort.

  • Shine on you, Crazy Diamond :)

  • i have that mic almost 3 years already i but the software frome samson is not compatible in that mic and when i use it in vocal recording its out of face but its still cool

  • why you talk it sound perfect i hear like a stadic noise when you play guitar why is that

  • if you hear buzzing that's probably the guitar amp. if you're talking about just like faint buzzing or something. but there's no static as far as i can tell. it could be your speakers, it could be audio drivers.i dunno, dude. i could send you the actual sound flie i recorded and it would be static free as far as i can tell.

  • I bet you played your guitar in front of your computer monitor, and that's why the noise came in. Next time just turn off you monitor when recording=)

Thanks for your demo. Just got mine today, going to record something with it tomorrow. Keep on swingin' !

  • that doesn't make any difference unless you have a CRT monitor. i had an LCD monitor there. CRT's give off a lot of electromagnetics causing buzzing in audio sometimes. what these people are hearing is nothing new. it's called amp fuzz. most if not all guitar amps produce it.

  • Try getting a Pop Shield- That will improve the vocals usually around £20 or something like $40

  • i know, but it ain't exactly on my priority list to get one right now

  • That 3 prong thing- would be a XLR connection

  • yep, found that out a few months after i made the video, lol

  • hey does this mic work on vista?? and should i be able to record some growls and screams in decent quality?

  • Yes, it works with any operative system. Just plug it in, it will install itself, and you're ready to use it :) Exelent mic, gotta tell!

  • Does anybody know how I can attacth it to my Microphone boom stand? let me know asap

  • did you find out?? you have to get a screw.. it screws right out. hope this helps.

  • Yeah I already unscrewed it finally,thanks though-DNR

  • Anytime, yo let me ask you something, does your mic. like at random times pick up static? Idk if its when my pitch gets high or what. If you can help thanks. get back at me

  • umm my mic has never done that, because i never tested it out yet, sorry :(

  • eehhh its cool, thanks anyways.

  • alright man no prob

  • how much was that in british money plz

  • you can get it for like £65

  • It works with any OS. I run Windows 7 and it works perfectly.

  • Yes!

  • i have this microphone and it seems very quiet. I have my microphone setting on 100 volume, i have microphone boost on full and also when i record with it on audacity the quality seems severely lessened. anyone know what a possible solution would be?

  • download softpre from the samson website

and play around with the controls for a bit

don't put it too loud the mic picks up sounds pretty far away got mine at 41 db lowcut 101 hz

  • I had the same problem. I went into Control Panel, selected the Mic, selected properties... and turned that up. Maybe you've already done that, but that's what worked for me.
