  • I think woman with average face and body like her is healthy and very beautiful than most of the super skinny model nowadays plus some super skinny Japanese girl. I don't mean that all model and Japanese are bad ok guy.

  • this has nothing to do with southeast asia. this is about an ethnic called the dai who r somewhat related to the tai speaking people where u can find the dai is in sisaupana of southern china

  • isnt this movie cambodian?

  • I used to like the prince soooo much but you know he is still hot in this movie today! Lol loved this movie w/ lis ceeb..=)

  • someone tell me why the actors and actresse's names are Chinese and then the customes look like Thai????

  • Based on their costumes and dance, I'd say they're Pan pan or dai.

  • Based on their costumes and dance, I'd say they're Pan pan.

  • dam i love this movie, seriously i think this is a legend that originated from the hmong people, thats the truth dam chinese stole our land and try to steal our stories.

  • shes so beautiful with her wide eyes n small lips... is adorable..=DDD

  • is this really a chinese movie???

  • Yes, this is a Chinese movie...

  • no, it;s not chinese maybe burma and indonesia according to their costume.

  • @soysuva yes it is, cause i have seen a movie made by the prince called 小花 (Xiǎohuā) or little flower. not as good as this movie tho...

  • i saw this movie a long time ago and really like it. That was when i'm still young and in love, so watching this movie bring wonderful memories....

  • hmm I've never seen this movie but it reminds me alot of Prasuton Manohra. Dai people are Tai people and alot of their culture are the same as all Tai people so I'm not surprised.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think beautiful women are meaty. It's very natural like her and other actress out there. and so does he. I don't like movies that people have to work so damn hard to get the party to just play a role in it. I used to love hindi movies...until too much belly showing and all actors and actress are hot looking only. Ugly people have problems too ya know? they deserved to be shown on movies. ;) ehehe. just me thinking outloud.

  • Back then, this was "The Classic Movie." I believe most Hmong people loved it and still does. Seriously, even my now, super-Hmong American cousin still loves it. One day when we were visiting her and her American boyfriend in their home, she popped in this movie and asked if we wanted to see it. She actually played it for us. It was kind of odd.

  • he so cute...or is it just me??Lol

  • He's very cute and beautiful- it's not just you!! xD

    I love this movie!

  • i love this movie...she's so pretty^^ thnks

  • 1 of the best movie ever. i don't know what's with all the stupid remake movie out there and not this one. the story existed throughout all races in Asia i think,,old hmong folks story too.

  • I saw a thai series about this story. I know it is because the girl's name is the same.

  • Yes, my favorite is movie!! I'm dreaming of sweet... nice video!

  • Nice very nice.

  • it so hard to find a beautiful, respect, lovely, and understand wife like mananouna

  • ye1776- wat the heck r u talkin' bout

  • This is actually an old Chinese movie from the 1970's. The actor is Tang Guo Qiang. Really bad movie. Don't know why it's so popular in SE Asia. This movie really ruined Tang's career too, since it typecast him into the pretty-face boy-toy roles. Took him ten years to recover. Don't remember who the actress was.

  • Please upload the movie call The Peacock Princess ok please upload all of it I meant the The Peacock Princess ok please.

  • this is a great movie. i have it in khmer but the vhs isn't all that great. like you said...it's very old :(

  • <3<3<3<3<3

  • I have this movie and it's sooooo romantic.. I love all the songs and how the storyline goes. Kinda similiar to a thai drama in which it's alot more better...

This guy is cute and dang he can dance..

  • what is this movie called? ive been looking for it everywhere..online..stores...where can i get a copy??

  • the movie is called "The Peacock Princess" in English but the pinyin form of the chinese title is "kong que gong zhu"

  • This really bring so much childhood memories.

  • Thanks so much for sharing....I use to dance to this when I was young.......Love it so much.

  • The storyline to this movie - not the movie itself per se - has similarities in the variant Asian cultures. The Hmong also has a very similar folk tale about the seven princesses in the heavens where the youngest and most beautiful of the seven falls in love with an man on the earth. I've also seen a few Chinese movies with their version of the seven princesses from the heavens who possess unique powers.

Any ways, I love the dancing and singing in this movie... soooo lovely.

  • The 7 princess in heaven u were talking about is called "A MAID IN HEAVEN". It is a musical opera movie. The chinese called it 天仙配 (Tian Xian Pei). If you haven't seen it, then I recommend you to watch it. Thanks.

  • Do you where i can buy more movies like this one. If do please tell. I wan to buy it so bad. I love this movies so much.

  • this movie is so old but it's a good movie

the girl look very pretty in it

i wonder is what the guy name...

    he look very interesting

    hahhaha

    he must old now

  • B/c Azn history is sooo long, cultures mix and share similarities, esp. folktales. Khmer, Chinese, Thai, etc., each have a version of Peacock Princess or Ning Keominoria.

  • OMG I love these movies>>>although it brings weird feelings. lol idk why, But I remember them from when I was litte. Anyways thanks for the upload! =]

  • hi there please upload more the movie call The Peacock Princess please because i wanted to see it so please upload more movie of The Peacock Princess please thanks please upload it please i beg you please.

  • The costume is very close to BURMESE, definetly not khmer nor hmong. Although I believe the khmer does have an older version of the movie.

  • lol...I don't think anyone said this was a Hmong story/movie...just dubbed in Hmong...

  • lostxoul:"The Peacock Princess intro music" look it up for better sound and picture.

  • this movie was made by chinese people telling the story of the "DAI" people just like the "HMONG" back then called "Miao" they are CHINESE people who left CHINA and went south, some became MIAO which is now call hmong, some became DOWA, and some became CHERA they all lived together in the mountaions throught THAI and LAOS.

  • Correction "Khmer traditional custome" and look for Sompot Keo Monorea

  • @PROLUNG not khmer but dai people of southern china related to the tai people

  • There is a Khmer traditional custom so called Sompot Keo Monorea dating back to pre-Angkor period. Therefore, the movie is orginally cambodian. Just reasearh it on youtube with "Khmer traditional custom"

  • Fav movie from childhood. Got it on VHS, khmer dubbed w/ english subs. Always wondered what country this was originally. From ple's comments, I researched & agree its Chinese produced by Beijing Film Studio representing Dai culture. Credits are in Chinese and although the storyline, costumes and dance are similar to khmer, its not really "khmer".

  • Despite this movie obviously being a Chinese production and having "Dai" influences, I was wondering if this movie was actually based off a Khmer fairy tale. If you look up "The Peacock Princess intro music" on youtube, you'll notice that the movie begins with the Cover of the story which appears to have Cambodian writing on it right before the Chinese credits come in. So for those of you who can read Khmer, can anyone tell if it's Khmer writing or not?

  • It is khmer movie. Most of old khmer movie was translated in Chines. In this movie, chea yotorn is the actor in this video a very famous actor pre pol-pot error...damn ho wour country was so glorious.....sigh

  • Khmer old movie called Preah Sothun Neang Keo Monorea. You can search by this name

  • Sure this Movie is from chinese minority called DAI. Anyone dont believe just do the research, find out their out fit, their architecture and their tradition dancing.I have been to China culture village. Dai people have similar culture similar as Cambodian. The best way just visit Yunnan province at China . For sure the story line is Cambodia. I wonder y they have the same story line as our Khmer story??

  • wow, i havent seen this for soooo long..

  • This is NOT a Thai or Cambodian movie! Let me REPEAT myself again....THIS IS NOT A THAI OR CAMBODIAN MOVIE!!! This movie is made from a group of chinese minority called DAI. So, PLEASE, DON'T just label them as Thai or Cambodian. DAI DAI DAI DAI!! GOOGLE IT UP, GUYS!!

  • "It is originally Cambodian."

actually i did a little research and it's not. it a movie that tell about a Dai folktale. The Dai like the Hmong/Miao are an ethnic minority in China. the credits at the beginning even credits it as being Dai if you look closely.

  • i've always wanted to see this movies.. its been so long. i've seen this since i was 4 or 5 years old... my cousins have this movie. I REALLY LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • OMG!!!!!!!! I haven't seen this movie in such a long time!! Maybe 10 plus years??!! Wow, brings back memories...

  • This movie is not from THAILAND, my brothers and sisters! I believe this movie is made from the Chinese minority DAI people. Dai is a minority group like the Hmongs (miao). So, anyways, correct me if I am wrong. Try to do some little research about the Dai minority.

  • this movie is a cambodian movie....wtf!!!....

that actor looks alot like chea yotorn the famous khmer movie star from back in the day....i c they translated into different languages....damn that sucks that we dont have the original khmer version

  • @khmerstylez its not khmer its dai people of yunnan

The meaning "Shan pyi..Innwa" is shan pyi Shan state or Shanland and Innwa is capital city of upper Burma in 19th century. The title "namanounam" mean Dear girl(lover) o nan. O Nan is the girl name(unam=Onan).

  • I guess long time ago every one live in the same place, suppose that's why every asian to mid china to on south indo have this tale, because chinies ethnics are mostly our relatives.

  • oh and the version i have, the english title was Peacock Princess.

  • just wanted to say that...

the chinese title is called Kong Que Gong Zhu. apparently this is based on a Dai folktale, a minority group in china (which are closely related to thai people). that's what i read (in a chinese website) but not too sure.

  • wow i dont know this movie is from chinese or thai. i heard that song in Burmese version. i believe this song is sing in chinese. but if u listen at 1:03 to 1:15 she sing some Burmese words such as "Shan pyi..Innwa" which is the same in Burmese version. But, yeah, Where can I find the Khmer version? (though I've been reading that it's been destroyed...)

  • I know which girl you're talking about...yes, they do look a like, but they're not same person...can't you tell the songs are in Chinese???

  • Well, lots of people have said that they are the same person...

Hmm, I think the movie was a Chinese/Thai production, that's why they are wearing Thai (or Burma) clothing... The songs are in Chinese, but aren't they talking in Thai (or Burma language)...?

I don't know, all I know is that I really like this movie! ;D

  • the beginning credits has chinese as director, producer, and actors/actresses (i have the movie). it's a chinese production but was dubbed into other languages (southeast asian language.

  • No way! You know, I'm so disappointed. All my life, I've thought that this was a Thai movie, then I find out it's Burmese, and now it's Chinese. No offense to anyone or anything, but I was just proud that, hey, Thai people made such a great classic. Oh well, like they say "you live and learn"! T_T

  • well their are other version in chinese and thai that is like a replica of this movie too...

  • lol...But I though that this version was the Thai one...! ;D

  • lol... yah first time i saw it i thought it was thaitoo but when they sing and stuff it more like chinese... lol aniwaise i think i prefer the thai one because the picture quality and actors was way better... but that just my opinion... lol

  • sorry writing so much. actually i don't know if it's based on thai story or burmese or other SEA story.

  • OMG..this is my childhood favorite movie!!!

  • great love story

  • hey! i have this movie but it was translated into hmong.i love this movie

  • this movie is originated from mainland China(mandarin), the male actor was in (qing dynasty emperior Yun zheng and drama of three kingdom-Zuo ge liang)

  • Asides from the fact that the original songs in this movie are Chinese songs, I'm a hundred percent positive the actors and actresses are Chinese. Thanks88 is right. It's a chinese production...maybe based on a Cambodian story/fairy tale though. If you watch the scene at the beginning and the end where you see the book covers open and close, the writing on the covers(if I'm not mistaken) look like Cambodian writing. It's not a Thai movie. They just dubbed it :D

  • BTW...aren't the "Dai" people a tribal people living in Southern China? If so, they could also be a big influence in the style of dance being used in this movie since this IS a Chinese production.

  • this movie is originated from mainland China(mandarin), the male actor was in (qing dynasty emperior Yun zheng and drama of three kingdom-Zuo ge liang)

  • isnt that jet li????

  • ahha that's not Jet Li! LOL this is a really really old Thai movie. I do not know the guy's name but he's definitely not Jet Li.

  • o wait, not thai...i just read the comment below hehe

  • the guy is way cuttier than jet li, no way can he be jet.
