I see a bunch of Indian parrots in India everyday who enjoy perching on my bedroom window grill which happens to be adjacent to a banyan tree where they eat fruits. I think thats probably the only banyan tree left in 5 miles radius due to indiscriminate logging by greedy and corrupt humans. So its extremely valuable to these parrots. I also see the King fisher, golden oriole, mynah, Greater Coucaland and more. Just plant a banyan tree and enjoy the wild life! no need for pet :)
@mouse264 Indian ringnecks need A LOT of attention. If you don't have most of your time to play/devote to them, look for something less dependent. Just trying to help.
@babac07 its not recommended to get another bird that is not the same species and let them stay in the same area together. even if they are the same species, since you got one at a different time, jealousy can cause one bird to kill the other. usually the larger one (moustached) will win and kill your IRN.
sry because im late with ansvering ( a mont late) but heres the thing. i bought it and i keep em in 2 cages when they are outside theres no problem they are just stealing each others toys... but fight is only about apple and i think that my IRN is much more agressive than moustached... :)
@babac07 thats awesome they get along! congrats ;) im glad you decided to put them in separate cages too, so theres no territorial issues. take care and have fun with your birds!
An Indian Ringneck. They come in Geen, Blue, Grey, White, Yellow and Violet. The also have come out with some that are pied Blue-Yellow or Green-Yellow. They are awesome!
i got a blue irn he looks exactly like your one i love him so much and he is really friendly iv only had him for 3days and he wasn't hand raised either. =)
very very cute, I have just got myself a blue male indian ringneck handraised to be friends with my Alexandrine. She is 12 months old and talks heaps, so I am hoping he will learn off her.
I was wondering, the blue one you said was Buzz, who talks alot, the title is Buzz and Poppy, someone else has said they heard Apple speak, (um who is apple hehe) but does Poppy speak or is she still learning?
Poppy can talk.Buzz talks jus to annoy her.when hes beside her and i say "Buzz.wheres Poppy?" &he gets all excited &screams "POPPY Where R you? Cmere" while hes looking RIGHT@HER. she tends to lunge out n nip him, shes fed up with it. Buzz thinks its a game n leans back n yells WEEE so she misses him hahaa.. He also likes to peck at her (not hard) once i said 2him "BUZZ Thats not nice, say sorry" now its peck SORRY.. They both speak equally as good..
I learned that today. I tried putting one of my budgies in the cage and my white ringneck tried to attack it O_o i got scared and sternly said NO, and she backed off but kept trying whenever i looked away so i took out my budgie and put him back with the other budgies. Maybe someday they'll be able to get along but for now they have to stay apart :(
btw how long did it take you to get your ringnecks so tame. Ive had mine about 3 months and they're still scared of my hand when i change the food
I spend a LOT of time with all of my birds, they are all very happy and willing to learn.. My feathered family mean the world to me... as do my human family LOL
lol umm .. no..
Im an Aussie and havent even heard of that hahaha xx

You are right though, Ringnecks can be aggressive toward other species. Both my Ringnecks go after my cockatoo and she's twice their size!

It's so funny how much more talkative male parrots are than females. My cockatiels are the same way! Beautiful birds!

Hey do you keep your budgie with your Indian ringnecks? im thinking im buying an indian ringneck and placeing it with the two tamed budgies.
newjersey02 3 years ago
NO!! Ringnecks can be aggressive by nature and way to big for a budgie to try and defend himself from should there be an argument..
They are all kept apart and when they are all out in the room at the same time there is STRICT supervision at ALL times.. =)
Poppy in particular wouldnt hesitate in ripping off one of the Budgies heads if she was given the chance.. hahaaa
(sorry about typos)
unasaurus 3 years ago
