cooked to perfection=) use 3 to 10 cm of vermiculite, depending on container size. Than one cm of perlite on top. The perlite can be wet but it wont retain as much moisture as vermiculite. vermiculite has a higher water holding compacity tham perlite.
southern python species = 50% vermiculite 50%water
Arid species = 60% verm 40% water
tropical species 40% VERM 60 % water.
I'll be allowed back on aussie pythons and snakes soon!
mines bigger. nearly two. lots longer than my coastal and its about the same age. their both females.
the fricken perlite can be wet. it wont matter. the water will fall down to the vermiculite. perlite doesnt retain water as well as vermiculite. thats why perlite is used.
are they still expansive?
