@CombatSamboFighter they are actually not that different. the ak47 used a machined steel reciever and the akm used a stamped sheet metal reciever. both of these were chambered for 7.62x39. the akm also came with a muzzle brake. the ak74 also used a stamped reciever but was chambered for 5.45x39. the ak74 also has a flash suppressor instead of just the slant type brake. the 2 are easily distinguished by the shapes of their magazines. ak74 mags are much straighter than akm/ak47

@TMHonfire102 Every mechanical device has a life cycle. Dry firing adds wear, just as live fire does. However, in dry firing the firing pin is being battered against the inside of the hardened bolt. As opposed to the firing pin meeting resistance against the soft primer. Its kind of like saying driving your car in snow and ice wont hurt anything. Sure, the evidence may not be READILY apparent, but you are putting "more miles" on the gun then necessary in the harshest possible way.

It's called a function check retard. Extensive dry firing can damage your firing pin, however doing it once or twice after a field strip won't do any harm.

Also, the 5.45 has similar yawing affects to the 5.56, and is therefore a better cartridge for flesh targets, the ak-74 is seen as a modern ak variant for a reason.

why's my ak so hard to take apart? I have an arsenal sgl21-61 and the gas tube latch and gas tube so hard to take off. The latch is kinda marred up and bent cause i had to use pliers to move it. The gas tube required the strap of a strap wrench to basically violently tug the gas tube off. After banging the gas tube back into place, i can't even get the latch all the way back down now. Is this the way it's suppose to be or do i have an ak with too tight tolerances?

you do relize you are supposed to take the muzzle break off, before you remove the cleaning rod, you also really shouldn't store a loaded firearm, it's just setting yourself up for an accident, maybe store the ammo or mags in the same area, but you really shouldn't store the rifle with a loaded mag in it
