Technically it is dubious war crime at best if you are not caught in the act. Soldiers caught masquerading as the enemy however had no protection under the laws of was, thus tended to be shot when captured. Skorzeny himself was quite worried abaut the likely fate of his men. He was a creepy guy, but compared to other III Reich notables he was a pretty tame beast. There were many, many far more sinister and evil beasts in Hitler's zoo. and only so much rope to go around.

@knutgordon skorzeny and rommel were smart and in fact they were not murderers.in fact rommel didn't follow hitlers orders and he didn't kill civilians like the waffen ss.skorzeny wasn't bad,he was smart and his operations were succesfull because he was always fighting on enemy lines and almost behind enemy lines.he did secret operations without civilian casualties.my point is that the allies did millions of horrible things and they reduced skorzeny's sentece to look innocent.
