IF THIS COUNTRY IS EVER TO GET OFF ITS FAT ASS AND BACK ON IT'S FEET, RON PAUL IN THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN. THIS COUNTRY HAS BEEN SICK FOR LONG ENOUGH, IT'S TIME WE VOTE IN THE DOCTOR TO GET US TO RECOVER. DR. RON PAUL 2012!
The sad thing is most people didn't even realize who Ron Paul was, and if they did republicans would never fully back him... sucks such a well rounded individual wouldn't even get a shot at presidency...
All of these military expenditures that only benefit the few, and all the while the country is fiscally broke, and crumbling from within. Too many lobbyists, too much kick-back money thrown at Congressional members, and way too much corruption.
Preface -- Our country has been raped of it's Constitution and Bill of Rights. America is quickly moving toward a police state and total panopticon where technology will create a perfect prison and the fate of Liberty will be sealed forever. Traitors with no loyalty to country or countrymen fill public office while complicit cowards in the media help to puppeteer the minds of Americans.
Even if true it is completely irrelevant as a reply to my comment. Is this some weak attempt to distract from the idea that Libertarian "free" market delusions have, are, and will in the future, fail completely?
Well, I didn't mean to get you off topic. I point that out because Obama was perceived as the peace candidate and he's got nothing but Clintonian Democrats in his cabinet.
The Dems are far worse now because they're all about winning instead of looking at Kucinich and Gravel who pretty much add a whole lot of new ideas to the Democratic Party.
The Liberals whine so much about 8 yrs of Bush, rather than look at why Gore and Kerry lost.
That's very true. The big D Democrats are one of the two heads on the two-headed corporatocracy that is the United States and Ron Paul, like Ralph Nader, has a lot of good ideas but there is no way over the "free" market boondoggle. Unless he unequivocally renounces that idea there is no way he will ever win wide spread support from grassroots lefties who see the devastation of an unregulated world market, which is the underpinning of the whole Rand/Libertarian philosophy.
I don't mind Democrats like Dennis Kucinich or Mike Gravel. Nader's been saying the same thing for 10 years. These corporate Democrats are more so Authoritarian Centrists who tax out the ying yang rather than change the tax structure.
Plus they now have heavy attachments to Israel through AIPAC and they're pushing us into a war with Iran. We're in Iraq, because of Kristol, Perle, Wolfowtiz and the Israeli Lobby wanting us to take out Saddam.
Actually, the world market is highly regulated. But it's regulated in favor of large corporations and transnational capital. Once "grassroots lefties" grow to understand that, they'll support Paul.
He has been correct all this time and it is still falling on deaf ears. Absolutely amazing! Why are so many people wrong all the time and so few correct?
Ron Paul - The only voice in congress fighting for the rights established by our founding documents! Can you name another in gov't that does that on "every" issue? I think not!
Considering his age, we need to be asking ourselves, who will carry the torch that Ron Paul has been carrying for 30 years.
Ron Paul completely changed my views about politic and economics. I am glad to have discovered him while I am still young enough to try to make some serious change wherever I am.
Dr. Paul is my hero. I wish our media didn't treat him the way they did when he was running for president; then just maybe we'd have some real change and real hope.
don't kid yourself. he speaks loud and debates well sometimes and had a funny role in bruno, but watch a video where ron paul is owned by tim russert. you will see that while he denied funding for hurricane katrina he supported funding for fishermen in his state, and funding for star wars. also, he thinks evolution is a theory. i'll bet he doesn't raise taxes either, huh? yeah.
Your argument is based on what your t.v. told you and a two minute conversation that just shows the lack of understanding. If you really watch it and thought about it and then looked at the congressman's stance then you would learn more. Congressman Paul says that people should add earmarks to bills because that is how state money is raised from the federal government. In the video Congressman Paul says he added earmarks because his people asked for these things and he is their representative!
my argument is based on YOUTUBE, not T.V., since he doesn't get much airtime.
if you believe that politicians can bring about real change, then you might as well vote obama or palin. but if you believe that all politicians are the same, then you believe that they are all puppets, fed by the special interests, whether they agree with your positions or not.
i've gone back and forth, but when he showed that ad of him &reagan this showed he wasn't far off the mainstream conservatism. i was (cont'd
disappointed, because he had campaigned fervently against reagan's deficits in 1988, and then in 2008 praises him with a web ad, and the debate at the reagan library. (from wikipedia: Paul criticized Ronald Reagan as a failure and cited high deficits as exhibit A. ) however, i doubt he said racist comments or is a conspiracy theorist. he's just a politician. one with interesting views might I add, but just a politician. you cannot, cannot win w/o special interests and you will owe them for terms
If you did your fair research you would no that Congressman Paul votes against the federal government overstepping its boundaries and spending money it shouldn't spend or just doesn't have the ability to spend. His view is based on what the constitution spells out is the right of the federal government to do. He was cut off in that video clip you were talking about but he was saying that he added earmarks that his people asked of him as the representative of them he did. He can still vote no.
If you look up recently congressman Paul was asked what he would have done to help the economic situation because he is against these bailouts. He said he would ask the congress to repeal the income tax and give back your money and still they would have spent less than we did on giving rich bankers lots of money. Imagine that kind of stimulus, your federal tax dollars back in your pocket! Your argument ends with using his name as a joke of the office he holds and that shows the lack of argument.
You probably thought he was crazy because that's what the talking heads on the mind control machine told you to think. I'm not trying to criticize you but really just like to point out the mind control media machine as what it truly is.
And over the last few months, I think that many people are waking up to the idea that they missed their chance at putting the one person running for president that knew what he was doing.

i know, i hate when people change their minds!!! think the same thing all the time, like a robot! robots make me comfortable, but humans, with all their mind changing, shouldn't be allowed to run the country... we need a robot in power!
there's a difference when you're pandering to whoever will keep you in power and staying consistent with beliefs that you truly hold. It's called integrity, don't try to turn this into a game, our freedom is at stake, as well as a lot of lives overseas and not just our soldiers. Idiot...
turn WHAT into a game? you mean not electing the guy who'll keep 'pandering to whoever will keep him in power' by never changing his mind, right?? and what freedom is at stake?? don't turn this into a fear-based 'everyone's out to get us' game, isn't that what Ron Paul is all about? not making fear-based decisions???
I just watched the VHS video of that show that I taped in 2001. You have to remember, it was maybe 6 months before 9-11, and yet, here's the good Dr. doing what he's always done, fighting big government and protecting the Constitution. And talking about the unjust, undeclared wars that Clinton was advocating. Paul is the man for all seasons!
I've been a lifelong Democrat since I first became eligible to vote in 1980. Sadly, I always felt like I was choosing between the lessor of two evils every Presidential election. It wasn't until Ron Paul that I've been enthused about a candidate. Listen to how he actually answers questions rather than dance and dodge. His commitment to the U.S. Constitution is just what we need. I've switched parties and Ron Paul will get my vote. They may say we're dreamers, but we're not the only ones!
I just got around to seeing Ron Paul videos. I heard he was a nut, but after seeing the Stossell interviews I am actually in line with alot of his thoughts and ideas. It's nice to see a politician who stands against traditional Washington thinking. Although I am unsure what the solution to Iraq is at this moment. He does give a good perspective on what our government should be doing. Or should I say not be doing. Does that make me a nut? haha
Watch Ron Paul videos. Rate them. Favorite them. Send them to your friends. Send them to your enemies. And once you've learned enough about Ron Paul to realize that he is the greatest presidential canddiate in the history of the United States, donate a hundred dollars to his campaign on December 16, at ronpaul2008 com
Just a Reagen said that there was a "Reagen revolution" in his farewell address, now we Americans will bring about a "Ron Paul revolution." I feel sorry for the person on the democratic side that faces off against Ron. It's going to be one of the biggest landslides ever.
Actually, this video is dated 2001, but that is actually an error, the fact that it was produced in 1999 is VERY important to keep in mind when you watch and more importantly LISTEN to this.... it's very fortuitous. I know the date, because I was personally involved with it's production.
Dont be ashamed, be ashamed of those that have every oportunity to know about RP now and choose not to, dont care, or activly oppose those of us that do. Like a prisoner who will not take the oportunity to escape and even calls the alarm on those that do to keep them locked inside too. It helps to pay attention to documentaries that other lump together into Conspiracy theories, like Freedom to Fascism, Stupid in America, The Money Masters, Hacking Democracy, etc. Inform yourself
Ahelwig you don't sacrific anything when it comes to your rights never! As Ben Franklin said, "those that would sacrifice their rights for security will recieve neither and deserve neither".
I agree--NEVER give up your rights. But too many unthinking Americans do. Look at the current drug war, look at our eroding property rights, look at our diminishing civil liberties. And no Bush isn't entirely to blame, it all started with Roosevelt under the New Deal. Today we see the natural consequences.
Hard drugs soft drugs what's the difference people are already dying from hard drugs with associated crimes and if it were legal then the associated crime to obtain the money would go away. The heroin user could get his daily fix from the pharmacy and become a productive citizen instead of a criminal.
If someone wants to do heroine I'd rather see them do it legally as opposed to illegally because then the CIA doesn't get their cut.
This man deserves every cent that we can throw at him.
December 16th is the day to MAX out, to $2300, or as close to it as you can possibly get. Give till it hurts, then give some more. These Fourth quarter fundraising results mean so much.
Ron Paul's consistency is unlike any other. He truly is a legend in his own time. Imagine how great America would be with such a leader! I know I will fight for this man until the end.
He does when he isn't tied down by the Mainstream media. He is often ignored by alot of the media elites cause, he goes out of the box. I think he should replace like bill o'reilly, Keith Olbermann or Sean Hannity.
redgalaxy4, Stossel just did an hour long interview with Dr. Paul. Right now, there are a few 5 minute long snippets up on the ABC website. Apparently, it will be shown online only, which is highly disappointing, as I think it is one of the best interviews of Paul during his election run.
Let your voice be heard. The eyes of the national press and the nation will be upon us. Let's give them a rally they will never forget!!! For additional information go to Ron Paul 2008 dot com.
Ron Paul is running for President. Register Republican and vote for him in the primary. Let's take this country back for the citizens. He will secure our freedoms and free us from the corporate lobbies and taxes.
This is absurd. America is the biggest market for cocaine. We create an artificial market for it, by making it illegal. All it does is ensure that the profits go to terrorist groups, like FARC. Same with heroin and Al Queda.
It's why Al Capone and other gangsters could always afford the best guns and cars. Prohibition meant all profits went straight to them.
what is absurd is the war on drugs. it is the most pointless and most expensive war that the US has "fought." why not legalize and regulate? do you know how much that could potentially contribute to the economy? too much for us to be spending billions on something that, when it comes down to it, affects the person taking the drugs (the other shit that happens is because the person has such a need for getting dosed that they do crazy stuff to get the money to purchase said drugs)
drugs like heroine and cocaine are just too dangerous. I agree with marijuana, but no these hard drugs, people die to easily from them I just couldn't stand to see people legally buying these things and dying from them.
i see what you mean. i still think that there are much more important things to worry about than the "war on drugs." education, industry, alternative fuels, that kind of stuff.
Agree. To me it seems like there's a hidden agenda with this drug controversy. Someone wants to keep the word out to suppress other issues.
Truthfully I don't see any kids in my school doing drugs, or even talking about drugs, I just honestly don't think it's as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be. (maybe more so for inner city kids though)
People die form bungie jumping ,rock climbing and legal drag racing as well, but we don't outlaw that!
FREEDOM is G_d Given Free Will to destroy your life if you so stupidly decide to do so.
Many will make bad decisions, many more will not.
Outlawing activities just makes them that much more pleasing to the eye...look to your own children if you doubt that. Everyone wants the forbidden fruit!
Either way, it doesnt make any difference to the whole point of what he is saying and what he stands for. Intervening there, or anywhere is generally none of our concern. Internal relations of other countries is none of our fucking concern, just as our internal relations are none of thiers.
Ron Paul has no idea about the "civil war" in Colombia. The "war" in Colombia is between the government and FARC, who are kidnappers and drug smugglers. That's like saying the USA is invloved in a civil war now its its fight against drugs in this country. It will take the average person about 30 minutes to research this information on the Internet. There is even an article on Colombia in the June 2007 issue of business week that can confirm this. Ron Paul is a Joke!
moshchopper1, It is sad what is going on in Columbia. We can not be the policemen of the world. We can not afford it. First of all, not everyone serves in the military. So the fighting overseas is of no consequence to most people. Second of all, Columbia is not the US. If you want to defend Columbia, move to Columbia, join their military, and fight for Columbian defense.
Yeah, I imagine that he doesn't know anything about america's role in columbia... it isn't like it's his job to review and vote on spending for it or anything.
Uh, PBS' News Hour website has an entire section dealing the Civil War in Columbia and why it is, in fact, a Civil War. But that doesn't matter, because no matter what's going on there it's not America's business to get involved.
Seriously, what is the problem with americans? When will they understand what they are doing? When will you start listen to the only sane person you will ever have. PLEASE VOTE FOR RON PAUL! Follow your constitution and be the best country that the world has ever had!
Clinton says "democracy is under attack in South America". What? And how does that concern us? We aren't even supposed to be a democracy here in America and we shouldn't be. We are supposed to be a constitutional republic. We should worry about fixing that problem here in the states instead of worrying about other countries civil wars.
There are actually people in America who have posted on YouTube videos that they'd rather vote for Rudy Giuliani because they feel that Ron Paul is "nutty" or "crazy". All I have to say is those people who wouldn't vote Ron Paul into office in '08 would rather watch the Constitution go up in flames.
Seems a bit isolationistic to me. There is a distinction between saying "America's international actions are initiated by lobbyists and that's foolish" and saying "America should not be interested in taking any military action outside of its own borders"
You may recall that the USA was attacked TWICE during the founders' lifetimes...and they still advocated non-interventionism.
Now, they advocated, just as Ron Paul does, that we should protect ourselves. But most of our actions overseas don't protect us.
There are 190 countries in the world; we have bases in 130 of them. We're no longer a republic; we're an empire. We know what happened to Rome after they became an empire: they lost their republic.
Isolationism is different from non-interventionism, which is what Ron Paul is advocating. Maintaining peaceful trading relations with other countries is great for all parties involved, but once you start getting involved in their internal affairs and conflicts, there is inevitably going to be some negative repurcussions. The old quote, "when goods don't cross borders soldiers will", still rings true today.
Is Switzerland isolationist? The truth is that Switzerland's principled non-interventionist stance has made that tiny country one of the most respected on the planet. Even though they are not a member of the UN, Switzerland is the home of many organizations dedicated to international human welfare and peace.
i'm sorry to say that switzerland joined the UN a few years ago. they're also having to 'reform' some of their gun laws in order to join the schengen agreement. it's a shame they've forgotten what makes them so great.
Some people think that Ron Paul will become lax and corrupt if he ever makes it as President or something higher than a Congresscritter. Let me ask you this: what about the current and past host of politicians that were already well into corruption to begin with that made it into the White House? Surely you are not arguing a man of principle will end up just as poorly as our already indecisive elected officials.
OK, Charley, I'm "talking fantasy" just as you're speculating what Ron would do if he found himself in a position of greater power. But, back to my original comment - if he were surrounded with 400 others like himself, there would be little reason for him to compromise. But, I'll admit that a Congress with 400 Ron Pauls in the 21st century is also fantasy.
The first part of your assessment is basically correct, but you apparently know nothing about Ron Paul and his long record of integrity. He's as incorruptible as anyone who has ever made it to Washington.
I think it's a bit too early for the polls to be very meaningful. What most of these mainstream polls don't measure very well is the huge explosion of interest in Ron Paul across the Internet. Many of the things he's saying are resonating well with the independents, various disenchanted voters, and even some Democrats. If he somehow manages to win the GOP nomination, he probably has the best chance of beating Hillary.

i know, i hate when people change their minds!!! think the same thing all the time, like a robot! robots make me comfortable, but humans, with all their mind changing, shouldn't be allowed to run the country... we need a robot in power!
JerkNowitzki41 4 years ago
there's a difference when you're pandering to whoever will keep you in power and staying consistent with beliefs that you truly hold. It's called integrity, don't try to turn this into a game, our freedom is at stake, as well as a lot of lives overseas and not just our soldiers. Idiot...
AspiretoShred 4 years ago 2
turn WHAT into a game? you mean not electing the guy who'll keep 'pandering to whoever will keep him in power' by never changing his mind, right?? and what freedom is at stake?? don't turn this into a fear-based 'everyone's out to get us' game, isn't that what Ron Paul is all about? not making fear-based decisions???
JerkNowitzki41 4 years ago

Does that make me a nut? haha

Prohibition meant all profits went straight to them.
particle409 4 years ago 2
what is absurd is the war on drugs. it is the most pointless and most expensive war that the US has "fought." why not legalize and regulate? do you know how much that could potentially contribute to the economy? too much for us to be spending billions on something that, when it comes down to it, affects the person taking the drugs (the other shit that happens is because the person has such a need for getting dosed that they do crazy stuff to get the money to purchase said drugs)
utbeaker 4 years ago
drugs like heroine and cocaine are just too dangerous. I agree with marijuana, but no these hard drugs, people die to easily from them I just couldn't stand to see people legally buying these things and dying from them.
KronicPain 4 years ago
i see what you mean. i still think that there are much more important things to worry about than the "war on drugs." education, industry, alternative fuels, that kind of stuff.
utbeaker 4 years ago

RON PAUL 2008!

Ron Paul is a Joke!
moshchopper1 4 years ago
moshchopper1, It is sad what is going on in Columbia. We can not be the policemen of the world. We can not afford it. First of all, not everyone serves in the military. So the fighting overseas is of no consequence to most people. Second of all, Columbia is not the US. If you want to defend Columbia, move to Columbia, join their military, and fight for Columbian defense.
HVACSoldier 4 years ago
Yeah, I imagine that he doesn't know anything about america's role in columbia... it isn't like it's his job to review and vote on spending for it or anything.
mpv81 4 years ago
Uh, PBS' News Hour website has an entire section dealing the Civil War in Columbia and why it is, in fact, a Civil War. But that doesn't matter, because no matter what's going on there it's not America's business to get involved.

There is a distinction between saying "America's international actions are initiated by lobbyists and that's foolish" and saying "America should not be interested in taking any military action outside of its own borders"
xenosoldier 5 years ago
"Seems a bit isolationistic to me" --
If that's an insult, you just insulted Jefferson, as he also said we shouldn't get involved in other countries' affairs.
He didn't even support sending Americans to help the French Revolutionaries...something he cared about VERY VERY much.
shipple 4 years ago
What about 9/11?
snuffydoug 4 years ago
"What about 9/11?" --
You may recall that the USA was attacked TWICE during the founders' lifetimes...and they still advocated non-interventionism.
Now, they advocated, just as Ron Paul does, that we should protect ourselves. But most of our actions overseas don't protect us.
There are 190 countries in the world; we have bases in 130 of them. We're no longer a republic; we're an empire. We know what happened to Rome after they became an empire: they lost their republic.
shipple 4 years ago
Isolationism is different from non-interventionism, which is what Ron Paul is advocating. Maintaining peaceful trading relations with other countries is great for all parties involved, but once you start getting involved in their internal affairs and conflicts, there is inevitably going to be some negative repurcussions. The old quote, "when goods don't cross borders soldiers will", still rings true today.
PongGod 4 years ago
Is Switzerland isolationist? The truth is that Switzerland's principled non-interventionist stance has made that tiny country one of the most respected on the planet. Even though they are not a member of the UN, Switzerland is the home of many organizations dedicated to international human welfare and peace.
SeanEdwardsCA 4 years ago
i'm sorry to say that switzerland joined the UN a few years ago. they're also having to 'reform' some of their gun laws in order to join the schengen agreement. it's a shame they've forgotten what makes them so great.

PongGod 5 years ago
You could argue that in the 19th century it was a reality.
snuffydoug 4 years ago
The first part of your assessment is basically correct, but you apparently know nothing about Ron Paul and his long record of integrity. He's as incorruptible as anyone who has ever made it to Washington.

snuffydoug 4 years ago
I think it's a bit too early for the polls to be very meaningful. What most of these mainstream polls don't measure very well is the huge explosion of interest in Ron Paul across the Internet. Many of the things he's saying are resonating well with the independents, various disenchanted voters, and even some Democrats. If he somehow manages to win the GOP nomination, he probably has the best chance of beating Hillary.
