I've read a lot of comments here from people wanting to buy the Silver Jubilee amp. All I can say is-be patient. Remember that Marshall's 50th Anniversary is less than 2 years away, and another Jubilee will be released.
I think I read once that switching to 50 watts not only lowers the volume, but promotes more power tube distortion, as the preamp tubes aren't clipping as much, therefore letting more power through to saturate the power tubes. Can anyone back me on this? I think it sounds pretty logical.
@Alu122112211221 Well you can buy a clone of Ceriatone, which would run you probably less than $500 (guesstimating) if you want to assemble it yourself, or $770 if you want it complete.
I'm really trying the hear the 3 different channels/gain levels were you the lead gain channel the whole time or did you switch to the rhythm gain channel THANKS!
I really love this head, I have a jcm 800 which I guess is as close as you can ever possibly get to jubilee. my main attraction to this is the fact you can switch channels unlike on the 800
could you give me some details on this? and how your set up
is silver jubilee a limited version of marshall amps or, Can i buy it in one shop? Please answer me i want to buy this amp, and i need to know that thx =')
This particular model "silver" was built only in 1987 to comemorate 50y J.Marshall's birthday and his 25y in amp business. Then in 1988 they made quite the same head but with black tolex. Many are those who're saying that' this new head doesn't sounds like the silver one. Same thing for Slash's signature which is according to Marshall a rebuilt of silver jubilee.
The only way is stuff like eBay to get one!
Good luck
PS: Mine with jcm 800 series cabinet coast me 1400€
@roxfire123 this may be 11 months to late, but the silver jubilee is a vintage marshall, they dont make them anymore. (slashes amp is modelded after it, because thats what he played for appetite) but the silver jubilee is discontinued.
@imwarcraftinyo it was actually a modded marshall 1959T that he used on appetite recording. The jubilees he used while touring after a roadie accidentally returned the appetite amp.
My "view"? To me jubilee lead sounds great and go higher than any other marshall heads. But the things I prefer is the eq which is quite versatile for an old marshall and that's great!
Unfortunately, my cam microphone can't deliver it actually. I'll try later to improve that

also, is this 50 or 100 watts
chrismortloch92 3 years ago
This one is 100 watts but it can be switched to 50 watts.
At least thts what I think.
angrygecko 3 years ago
Yes!
But remember that's it's only represent a 3dB diffrence, so nothing really perceptible
caums 3 years ago
yeah true but I think in 50 watt mode you must be able to get power tube distortion at a slightly lower volume?
angrygecko 3 years ago
yeah, the tubes in a 50 watt amp break up more easily, thus making a warmer, thicker sound at low volumes

No boost. Only its fuckin' power gain.
Switch to clean/gain and lead or rythm gain, by push-pull.
Actually my set is the amp only and alnicoII on a LesPaul studio

'tie your mother down' > you win lol

mistaken: it's not brighton rock.
tie your mother down correct: one over two, 0.5 points. :o)
however, brighton rock is another song composed by Queen. You can also listen it on youtube
