Unfortunately, China is not without its human rights abuses. I had assumed there would be comments related to just that when I posted this. I appreciate your comment. Sadly, there's not much that we, as common people, can do about China's policies.

I do urge everyone to look at his or her own country's policies on human rights, and see where they can help make a change. Abuse of power, torture, prejudices, etc, are futile efforts. We all share the same world, and it gets smaller by the day.

The most incredible thing about the performance is that all the dancers are deaf. They are members of the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe. None of them can hear the music - this makes their choreography a truly amazing achievement. The difficulties and challenges they encountered in training are beyond imagining

To Gianlim and others--deaf people are just about the only handicapped people that manage to survive birth in China--the government kills the visibly handicapped babies(trained midwives)and sterilizes the mothers. My neighbor headed a delegation of British doctors who traveled to China in 1994 to ask them to stop doing that. Not successful.

I saw a similar video of this while in Taiwan; it was done by "handicapped" performers. These dancers (in Taiwan) were all deaf. Magnificent performance.

They are the same group of dancers. It is true these people are deaf. They are from China Handicapped Art Troupe. As far as I know, they are the only group of deaf dancers who can perform this dance with such high quality.

Reminds me of one of those mass gymnastic shows they do in North Korea and used to do (maybe still do) in countries such as in Russia. But this is on a smaller scale. Very impressive.
