Danny Kaye is up there w/Judy ?Garland- 1 of a kind! And Hans C, Andersen is my favorite. I'm sick of TV formatted versions with lovely songs cut. This was aGREAT try to repair those losses. Photography perfect, song perfect; You hardly ever hear it on TV. Please try again, so the sound isn't cut before the first melody is finished. Just frustrated!
@Cardywhite111 Thank you for the compliments. Yes, we still are and hope to be for many more years to come. We made a lot of friends from the UK during our cruise to Norway last month. Cruise embarkation was at Southampton (London). The ship was 95% full of wonderful, friendly people from the UK. Regards.
@zolochnaya you got me wrong....I have never been on a cruise in my life....its not my cuppa tea. But I suppose if I was on one I might break into Vumderbar Vunderbar Ko-pen-hay-gen for me.......who knows. I am all for having fun....any old day or night. Regards.
So well done. Thank you, both uploader and creator(s).
The only "negative" I can think of is this composition is responsible for many's mispronounciation of the Anglicized city name. It should be "Ko-pen-hay-gen."
And I'm happy to see Danny Kaye get another look. Maybe this will do for Danny's rep what Wayne's World did for Queen.
Wonderful, Wonderful Video. I adore this movie. Walt Disney thinked of a movie on Andersen before MGM put it on the screen. Actually Disney animated "The Ugly Duckling" (2 versions of it without the swan transformation), "The Little Mermaid" and "The Steadifast Tin Soldier" (both with happy endings, the second as a segment of Frantasia 2000) and "The Little Matchgirl" (included as a bonus in the Little Mermaid DVD, originally thinked for a never released Fantasia's third movie)
@giagia282 I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. The movie is very old and it has that "Walt Disney" character to it. That's probably why it crosses generations and why it interests somebody as young as you are. Thank you for the info. Regards
@romympanlilio Yes, I know, but as they say in USA I'm really old fashioned. I went to Copenhagen when I was 16 and I loved the city. One more information: Kay Nielsen, a danish artist who worked at Disney (on Fantasia's A Night on Bold Mountain giving the sequence its style) created for this never released Andersen movie concept arts for the Little Mermaid's storm sequence. His artwork was a precious reference when Disney decided to release a movie on the Andersen immortal tale in 1989.

@GeorgeVreelandHill I saw this movie when I was a very young boy and had wanted to see Copenhagen since. I finally got to visit the city with my wife last Spring. I felt like the little boy in the movie. Video of a dream come true. I'm glad you loved it.
