Another amateur pretending to be an expert in HVAC. Very amusing. News flash: Secondary/emergency condensate drain pans are installed beneath evaporator (NOT condensor) coils when installations are above living spaces. Water damage to a ceiling isn't only caused by primary drain failures. Since when does algae live in environments without sunlight? Algaes photosynthesize to survive. It's high time that home inspectors wise up. Too many homeowners pay $800, or more, to complete idiots. Sheesh.
these are the guys that burn there houses down. Condenser is outside unless its a heat pump in heating mode. Here a tech tip used nitrogen or compressed air the only thing is you have to close off the hole to the drain pan requiring removal of cover to hold your thumb over hole while applying pressure thru tee then flush with plenty of water. that will be $75.00 sign here..
y didnt he run the drain around the outside of the wall with 22mm overflow? of coure it wil drop on his head! its the end course of the drain run! thik twat!
dude you so full of crap.inthe first time your drain line is not pitched properly, and you are missing a pit trap, ann you dont need a snake to clean out your drain line. you need to blow it out whith nitrogeon.....amateurs!!!
DUDE! OMG you need to go find yourself a SKILLED HVAC professional that can school you for a few years. THEN you may come back to youtube and do some schooling of your own. All of these videos show IMPROPER procedures, and don't even use proper names for the equipment! BTW, You need to use my DRAINBLASTER-2000 to blow out them drains!
What a shoddy install! Why did they not run the condensate drain down the wall? Instead they have it sticking out hanging in mid air...cowboyss yeeeee haaaaaaa!
Use a snake to unclog it? Use a Co2 gun it works much better. LOL im still rollin He called the Evaporater a Condenser. To all youi non HVAC-R ppl the Condenser coil is Outside of your house you know the one he was sitting beside while it was running at the beginning of the video.
Also if you do clear it out and the Problem is still present. Fallow the entire primary line and set a level on it and make sure that it has a down ward slop. even the SLIGHTEST well "non downward slope" lol will cause a pan fill. Even if it just level will do the same. Also do not take unscrew the adaptor that fits the line to the furnace. ESECIALLY if it is a metal adaptor. This could easily cause damage to your coil. So bad somtimes you might have to replace it.
HEY EXPERTVILLAGE! when are you going to do a video with an expert in it? The condenser is outside the building, it's called this because it is where heat is rejected from the refrigerant, CONDENSING it back into a liguid. The section inside the attic is called the EVAPORATOR, it's where the refrigerant EVAPORATES, absorbing heat, making the coil surface cold, which causes CONDENSATE to form!!
Wanna fix this in no time? Stick a water hose up to the primary drain and let it run for about 10 seconds and then remove. Repeat. Watch as about the most disgusting goo in the world makes its way out of the line. There, you're done.
LOL! If the "Condenser" was in the attic, I'd be worried!!! Although unlike what someone said above, that drain WILL plug up even if you clean your filters! Where there's water, there's bacteria! My "DrainBlaster2000" would blow out that clog in a second!
Maybe you should call someone who knows what they are doing. If you change your filter on a regular basis, and have routine maintenance done, you should not have that problem. The "algae" that is in there, is actually dirt that gets past your filters. Also to prevent ceiling damage, have a float switch installed on your drain pan, and have a mechanical trap installed.
Yet again all wrong. Thats the evaporator coil numbskull and the outdoor unit is the condensor not the compressor. yes the compressor lives outside but thats not what its called. And DONT pour bleach in the condensate drain! If it flows back to the evap coil it will corrode the aluminium and copper that the coil is made of. Instead get a gallo gun, or sum nitrogen and blow it through. Why your up there check the filter too. Change if needed.
Good instructional video for the homeowner. However, the condensor was referenced as the unit in the attic which is actualy the evaporator section of the system. The condenser is the compressor unit outside of the dwelling.
I don't usually like expert village videos, but this one helped get me onto the right path. Thanks for the info!

I know this video is old, but it really helped me figure out where all the water was coming from AND how to find/clear the clog.
Thank you!
My AC only has one condensator, no backup to warn of issues. And my furnace is in the basement (where the video owner has his unit in the attic).
The clues were all there, and this helped me to see them.
