In terms of musicianship, Robert is the best thing to happen to Metallica since Cliff Burton. He plays all the old stuff as if he helped write it himself. People need to stop hating on Robert, who gives a shit if he doesn't do backup vocals. Cliff didn't. (Just I'd put that out there. I'm tired of people hating on Robert.)

Metallica sold out...Dont get it twisted....What kind of metal godz sign with Bob Rock..Fucking lame..The long hair is gone, the intencity is gone...And Justice was the last good thing to come from Metallice...With that said, i dont listen to anything after Justice..
I would suggest listening to the new record. They dumped Bob Rock and I think it is clear. Most of the songs are structured in the same way as pre-black album songs were (long, solid thrash guitar work). The only real hangover from the previous crap is James' sailor-voice (it will always be annoying) and the more modern guitar tones.
Its worth a couple of listens through (James' voice cam near killing the record before it grew on me)
Yeah James ruined the album with all his "yeeeeaah"'s and moaning. Sad, could have been a nice album if it wasn't produced to death. Sounds like the whole thing was sown together in a sofware program. Also Kirk sounds stiff and not really enjoying it, so yeah, The Black Album is still the last Metallica album to me.

his performance in seattle in 89 is way beyond regular... as a drummer, to play 2 hours at full speed and without screwing up, it gets hard, to me that's what makes a good drummer, and lars had that and still kinda has it, he just got really lazy i guess

that alone isn't an excuse, look at nicko mcbrain, he's been playing with iron maiden since 1983 and he still plays exactly or even better than when he was younger.
i'm not saying lars isn't giving 120% of himself, which you can tell he does, he just needs to practice a lot more, cos if you don't you get tired (i'm a drummer)...
that's what i mean by lazy
i also think lars still has a lot of good drum parts to give, and it would be a shame if he let that go. go lars! :P
