  • this was David's rookie year

  • @dhide14 dumbfuck

  • @hotsweatyballsack your mom bitch

  • when i saw this game for the first time,i realised how it was possible for a caliber player like robinson, shaq, olajouwon, pippen(and the rest of them, maybe not pippen because he wasn't really a scorer)to score 100 points in a game.it's by watching this game that i realised that a great player can(if he played against a weak team and if they give him all the shots he wants to take) score 100 points.

  • 1 dislike from George Gervin

what a nice respectful crowd cheering for a away team

  • When you're playing so well on the road that you get the home crowd to start cheering you on, you know you're doing something right.

  • I give much respect to the LA Clipper Fans!! David Robinson couldn't have won the scoring title without those fans cheering him on! Notice, the fans were cheering for David only at the end of the game. Much love to David Robinson...

  • y the fuck is the crowd cheering BE LOYAL TO YOUR CITY!!!!

  • @lebron6theking It's the Clippers..come on now lol...

  • @laa1664 theyre all band wagoners cuz when griffin came everybody started liking them and when paul came they atarted talking about winning the nba championship

  • wow... is it just me or is it the clippers getting burned by career highs?! :P :D

  • @chumembulin ikr first robinson now shaq

  • The one dislike was Dwight Howard.

  • i think the fact that rodman came to the spurs was the best thing that could happen to david robinson. Rodman took all the rebounds and did the defense, so Robinson could focus on the offense

  • @allu4me But Robinson still rebounded and played D as good as he normally did, if not better since he probably learned a thing or two from Rodman

  • Clippers fans so lame rooting for the opponent. lol

  • fucking hell ive never even heard of this. thought it was a rick roll. go robinson!

  • Weak. The next top scorer on the spurs was Rodman with 8 points. This game meant nothing and the whole offense was run through Robinson. And it was against the Clippers. He would have to have had a nightmare to have got less than 50 in those circumstances.

  • Wow Elmore Spencer and Loy Vaught suck at defense lol

  • i never even heard of this game lol

  • this must be the most boring 71 points i've ever seen

  • Something the casual youtuber might not know about this game - Shaq and Robinson were going back and forth all year for the scoring title. Finally, it looked like Shaq pulled away at the end. The Spurs had other ideas though. The Admiral took 41 FGAs and 25 FTAs in this game and David Robinson scored 71 on the last day of the season and beat Shaq by 0.1 ppg to win his first scoring title and deny Shaq his first scoring title.

  • What a great athlete & human being, he's the all-time greatest Spur!

  • nigelle night? seriosuly black women where get these names?

  • any shmuck can score sut shot attempts thsi si why pistol bird wilt barkley shaq better than jordan kobe drj

  • nba kinda gutted by call anything a foul bs came around 88

  • del negro lol

  • One of the most underrated players ever... Would own the game today

  • @bogdanbackup co-sign this performance is criminally slept on when u hear about high scoring outputs for watever reason this game gets overlooked

  • @youngaxmaryland

Seriously, it may be true that there are no great centers anymore, but if you look at Dwight who is considered the best, the Admiral is better in my book. Dwight gets to play Bogut, Noah, Bynum and Kaman, while the Admiral had to face Shaq, Hakeem, Ewing... no comparison, really.

  • @bogdanbackup yea Robinson was crazy skilled great mid range game and super athletic for somebody 7'2 a rare athlete

  • @youngaxmaryland Just an FYI he's listed 7'1 in shoes and he's "only" 7'0 in his bare feet - not 7'2. It's still taller than his peers though, and yes he's a freak athlete!

  • when robinson scores 71 points its no big deal but when kobe score 10 more points hes the best ever??

  • @badboy77746 Well, it is a big deal that Kobe scored 81 because its the second highest points scored in a game ever. Also other players have scored 71 and more points in one game, like Elgin Baylor(71) and David Thompson(73) and of course Wilt Chamberlain(70,72,73,73,73,78,100).

  • @TheNBAHistory try scoring 81 ni the 90s. try scoring 71, 69, 61 points in the 90s. By no means it is easy to score 81 points. Kobe is a great player, But 81 against the raptors, MJ would've scored 100 in that game. I am much more impressed at Gilbert Arenas scoring 60 against kobe's defense against the lakers >=)

  • @TheNBAHistory The one by David Thompson was incredible. I think he had 52 in the first half and hit something like 21 consecutive field goals. He probably could've gone for more than 73, but then again, when The Iceman hit for 63, he did it in 3 quarters(I think), so who knows...?

  • @badboy77746 But of course its a big deal that Robinson scored 71, because it's not everyday that someone scores 71 points.

  • @TheNBAHistory Not to disrespect but I would say something that contradicts why it's big deal. A big deal is to score numbers bigger than your average ppg. Allowing 71 points like what you're saying that it's not everyday that some scores 71 points (which players can) is the Clippers fault. But wait David Robinson in reality is a good player, so it's a big deal because he averaged 29.8 in that time.

  • @badboy77746 I know who cares, just kobe a scrub and robinson good but not great. Kobe such overrated scrub just taken ton shots.

  • @badboy77746 well, people don't point to 81 as the only evidence that he is the best ever...that is ridiculous. 80 is a scoring mark that was rarely eclipsed, so it was a psychological argument. Also, kobe scored 62 in 3, outscoring the opponent....he scored 45 + in 4 straight games, the first to do that since wilt.....all im saying is that it is an oversimplification to say that people say kobe is the best ONLY bc of 81...

  • @badboy77746 and... That 71 was in the final game of the spurs in regular season. Robinson must score 69 to tie Shaq in the regular season´s scoring champion. that was sick :)

  • @badboy77746 if jordan didnt play in the 90s people would be talking about this game, but everyone takes a back seat to him lol

  • @badboy77746 100 has always been on top.

  • For all the idiots arguing over nothing with David and The Dream...give me both on my team...

  • The Admiral with 40 plus in the second half...

  • lol, i remember those Clipper years at the Sports Arena. We spent more time applauding the other teams accomplishments than we did with the Clippers

  • Well he broke the Icemans Record. Witch btw was the assistant coach of the spurs that time... Robinson scores 71 Ice back in 78 scored 69 in a memorable battle to nba MVP againast David Thompson..

  • @zSolitary What the hell does the Knicks have to do with this particular video?

  • @zSolitary fuck off cunt, KNICKS RULE!

  • @zSolitary wtf?where the fuck are you from? Turkey? thats how you sound to me, on the internet. Learn to write with a voicedumbass, and the knicks actually had a lot of energy. What you said absolutely has no vindication because Carmelo was a one man show. He was the only one who could carry the team, and he did a pretty damn good job. You obviously don't watch or play basketball that often to truly comprehend the game. You idiot, every time wants more than playoffs, only an idiot would say this

  • PPG do matter but its the effect it has on the team, i mean no point scoring so many if ya gonna lose though. Hakeem was better then david just look at his achievements compared to robinson. And if you want to talk about a player who dosen't score alot yet contribute, Kurt Thomas.

  • @NothingButSwishes David is a 2 time NBA Champion(1999, 2003), not 3, sorry but I had to correct you on that one.

  • @NothingButSwishes you understand hakeem shut down david in that series...but you're ignoring it? no one is knocking robinson. he's a legend.but hakeem led houston to the title twice, winning finals mvps both times and destroying robinson in the 95 conference finals.and lets be honest, without tim duncan, david doesn't win a title. timmy was finals mvp both those years. why exactly is robinson better? because he scored more in a game then hakeem? jordan never scored 71.is robinson better then mj?

  • @NothingButSwishes also how can you be a 'true spurs fan" if you don't even know how many championships david robinson won

  • @NothingButSwishes Robert horry is better then michael Jordan

  • @NothingButSwishes A "True Spurs Fan" would know how many championships David Robinson has.

  • @NothingButSwishes D-Rob is not better than Hakeem. Usin that 71pt game is retarded cuz its just one game. Its like sayin Kobes better than Jordan cuz he got 81pts in game but Jordan didn't. Hakeem has 2 finals mvps & D-Rob has none. Hakeem is a 2 time DPOY D-Rob got that once. Hakeem is slightly the better defender, slighty at rebs, better passer, stealer, & shotblocker, scorin is around the same but Hakeem has a better skillset. Plus Hakeem rose his level of play in the playoffs unlike D-Rob.

  • @NothingButSwishes hakeem is better no question

  • @NothingButSwishes hakeem was a better scorer, a better rebounder, a better blocker and way a better stealer. and shut down David in 95 in a way that nobody can't doubt it.. hakeem lead twice..david just once..in '03 was duncan. Do you need more? jordan said that in a dream team hakeem would be his center.....i understand you're a spurs fan...but C'mon...

  • @NothingButSwishes He scored 71 points against the Clippers. THE CLIPPERS. And as the person who posted this video said, he was a 2 time champion. And the fact that Hakeem shut him down throughout the whole '95 playoff series should give you a hint who's better. Scoring isn't what makes a person better. If that was the case, Kareem would be better than Michael Jordan.

  • @NothingButSwishes your argument for robinson being better than the dream is that he won 3 championships, which is false, and that he scored 71 points in one game out of the thousands that he played? you won't even convince a monkey with that kind of logic.

  • @NothingButSwishes Are you a fucking moron?!?? Because a player has a higher individual scoring game than another, that makes him better? And because you (mistakenly) thought that David had more rings than Olajuwon, that means he's better? That is an ESPN-type analysis if I ever heard one.

  • @NothingButSwishes "In the 30 head–to–head match-ups during the seven seasons from the 1989 to 1996, when both Olajuwon and Robinson were in their prime, Olajuwon averaged 26.3 points per game, shooting 47.6% from the field, while Robinson averaged 22.1 and 46.8%." - direct from wikipedia. Also, Robinson only has 2 championships.

In any case, two legendary players and it never hurts to compare two of the best.

  • damn the stands is empty and the fans are cheering for the spurs

  • epic footwork fail by delnegro @ 4:23

  • epic footwork fail by delnegro

  • What a complete farce this was. Fouling your opponent and letting them score just so you can get the ball back and dump it in to David so he can get a scoring title isn't basketball.

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST CENTERS TO EVER PLAY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's really hard for a center to score that many points because they don't usually shoot 3's..some cant even shoot FTs properly.....that's sick...

  • David Maurice Robinson (born August 6, 1965) is a retired American NBA basketball player, who played center for the San Antonio Spurs for his entire NBA career. Based on his prior service as an officer in the United States Navy, Robinson earned the nickname "The Admiral". He and teammate power forward Tim Duncan were nicknamed "The Twin Towers".

  • @maximusmagnanimus100 man imagin if they would have played together in their primes/ if duncan would have join the spurs in 92 ill go as far as to say the bulls dynasty wouldnt have existed they would have dominated the NBA

  • David Maurice Robinson (born August 6, 1965) is a retired American NBA basketball player, who played center for the San Antonio Spurs for his entire NBA career. Based on his prior service as an officer in the United States Navy, Robinson earned the nickname "The Admiral".

  • okay everyone to clarify my comment above about "who doesnt score 71 points against the clippers" IT WAS A JOKE. im not being serious at all im not trying to hate on david robinson its just funny that it happened to the clippers because the clippers always suck. thats all i was saying i was kidding so stop responding and getting pissed about it

  • Kinda sucks when your fans cheer for other teams player.

  • @LazgomaN1 i like to call that respect...

  • back in the good ol' days of short shorts

  • who doesnt score 71 points against the clippers

  • @jnorman975 every player to ever play the game.. ever.. exctp David Robinson?

  • @jnorman975 NOBODY BUT DAVID THAT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many since?

  • @jnorman975 i understand what you're trying to say and it's kinda funny but it's not really a valid point considering no one else has scored more than 61 against the clippers and only two other players have scored more than 71 points in any game.

  • what a great athlete and a great guy. as cool as it would be to play in that game, even on the other team, it's gotta suck to have your own fans cheer for the guy who's mopping the floor with you.

  • @jnorman975 nowadays no one :D

  • @jnorman975 Apparently no one does, except David Robinson in 1994. Everyone else tries, but no one else has.

  • @ArcadianGenesis shaq?????????????????????????

  • Dang Both Robinson had 71!!! & Shaq had 61 against the Cippers!!!!!

  • This absolutely eye opening. I was never even aware of this game. Thank you for posting this video. Videos like this one help to pass such greatness on through generations so that they learn to appreciate those who played before. Your video post is more important then you know. Future NBA stars may watch this and develop an appreciation for the history of the game. Not just what the game can do for them.

  • I still have an audio recording of this on tape. Wiki audio cassette if you don't know what a tape is. If this was anyone else in LA, NY, Miami, Chi, or Bos, this would have a thousand comments and over a million views. Oh well.

  • @charlesmburns what was the final result?

  • @TrueBlacha I cant remember but I do know the Spurs won, and after about 50 points or so, the Clippers fans started cheering for David.
