@jonbobizal only as long as you have a proper Raid Controller Card! onboard raid controllers are software controllers and not actually hardware controllers meaning you'll lost about 40-60% of your power (speed)!
videos proof nothing a empty windows and a clean down in "stander programma`s" and a nice balance in the register can speed up 500% faster than normal standerd speed. So fail vid. Empty windows will proof nothing compare a daily use "program/game machine" < program and game setup is also defrend between them so short word this proof nothing.
It seems that every Raid setup I see is slow at booting windows. IN a way, it makes sense that there are more devices to detect at BIOS, but from "Starting Windows", it took like 17 secs. My single SSD non-Raid setup boots in 10-11 seconds to windows 7. After pouring tons of programs into it, it slowed to about 14 seconds. But yours looks pretty empty.
Luca! Your boot is one of the fastest I have seen! how did you configure Win 7 to achieve that fast boot..?
Besides doing the RAID 0 I mean.... did you disable the registry indexing, disable almost all start up programs, Did you uninstall everything from your start up folder? You look like you have a super super clean Win 7 install...
I know its a lot of questions but I was just wondering if you could enlighten us a little bit on the situation... Thanks bro
@dalesalsa I think he has done this test when he has just installed 7, downloaded + installed nothing, and then configured the raid and so on. Cause thats freaking scary. :D
Since this video has comment approval, you can dissaprove my previous: I just measured my boot time using my watch. It takes about 25 seconds for my PC (7200 RPM HDD) to boot (from grub to fully logged in using Ubuntu 10.10)
This means my 7200 RPM HDD is a little bit slower than your drive.
By the way, it's not my vid but here's another video with another (SSD) PC doing the same: watch?v=2WoZf3H80pM
io ho un semplice hdd 7200 rpm wd, ma quando ho installato windows 7 e lo ho riavviato è stato se non più veloce quasi.. considerando che programmi installati non ce ne sono, mi sembra un po' lento
To be honest, it depends on the read/write of the SSD. You can get some SSD's that are the same as HDD's. But obviously, when you get an SSD you are going to get a HDD that has ridiculous speeds.
Try booting up something called windows xp gamers edition on any computer with at least 512mb of ram, or maybe even less, with no applications, it literally takes less then about 3 seconds to boot up, from the time you press the power button on your pc to going in to the screen with icons.
useless, you pay 600.00$ for two drives and you get faster loading/booting times, im not that impatient. SSD's are for rich folks that are wired and cannot wait 5 more seconds. I have an SSD 60Gb Intel that was given to me for testing and the only thing that caught my attention was how snappy it is when it comes to opening apps. Other than that they are not worth the price unless you have cash to wipe your ass with.
@maiky3838 its snappy at loading applications, improving loading times in applications, increases internet speed, since internet speed could be linked to your computer's hardware too, improves loading times for almost everything, and depending on your definition of rich, i'm pretty sure some middle class people could afford them, like successful businessmen, doctors, engineers. Even teenagers with jobs, since they don't have to worry about any taxes, and earn at least 150 per two weeks.
@mikurej95 That's great that Ubuntu can boot in 10 seconds. But you'll run into a problem if you want to install and use industrial grade software such as Adobe CS5 and Maya 2011. With hacks you could install older versions of Adobe. Installing Maya is possible but difficult.
If you're web surfing + word processing Ubuntu is fine.
The machine in this video has 2 SSD on RAID 0, 12GBs RAM and a i7 940 so its probably going to be doing some serious work. IMO bootup around 35secs is acceptable.
@LucaZPFYT hey there how do i enable 64mb chache? my hardrive is 64 and i have win7 64 and when i go into bios it says 32mb enabled, and i dont see anything like enable 64mb its just enable or disable. how do i get it to work?
RAID means redundant arrays of independent discs, so yes the Two SSD's are linked. The 0 refers to the way they are linked, the south bridge on your mother board handles your hdd's, sdd's and in a raid0 configuration the information on your is saved to both drives, half on one half on the other, but it is basicly faster.
Just to ruin the fun for you - My 1 1/2 years old machine, with a 7200rpm/32mb cache HDD and the Win7-Partition on it,boots up a fresh installation just as quick as your precious, expensive (good lord, for what purpose? lol) SSD raid 0 config. :P
@Zacq768 Then do a no GUI boot. Start>Run>"msconfig". Under the boot tab, click the No GUI boot option. When Windows loads, it will NOT show the Windows logo, or any type of loading bar. It will just load. This should shave seconds off the boot time.
@Zacq768 Another thing that can speed up the boot up sequence,if you have a dual, tri, quad or even hexa-core cpu -> Windows button+R,"msconfig"(enter)->"BOOT"->Advanced options->"Number of Processors" (Tick the box and select the number of cores that you wish to use for the boot up),reboot.Look at the result :p
Oh! There is thefastest SATA hard drive in the whole world. It's a WD hard drive. It has 10,000 RPM. Also I think that you are using Windows 7. If your hard drive is faster then SSD then great! SSD is very expensive and have much lower storage.
No,my isn't fast. :) There's lots of videos here in youtube with faster boot times. And SSD is really faster when you read or write files. There is the real difference between HDD and SSD.
hahaha, I don't have a gaming system. I'm interested in computers. I choose my computer hardware wisely. I want to get the best and new tech. However, i'm concern about the cost and the quality of it.
@PSXGAMER22 Tech will fix price points pretty soon. .I still wouldn't use one as a long term back up solution over a HDD. Unfortunately, I have the habit of drop kicking my computer almost daily. When I dig through the shards of twisted debris I usually find my HDDs in reasonable shape. They allow me to retrieve pretty much all of my data even if I get bored and bounce them off my walls too. I'm probably wrong but HDDs seem a bit more durable and allow physical retrieval of important data...

Your boot is not done when you say done.
If you look at your system tray icons load after you put the done comment in.
So your boot actually takes longer then u said. And functionality of it will still be slow until all services are loaded.
So yes u can click the start menu and stuff but it will still be slower for awhile.
personally boot times shouldn't matter. wait 20 sec or a min. who cares.
