  • For this scene to really hit you, you have to really understand that it's 150 years later, and that there's no chance for David to ever see Sophia, much less be with her, ever again. Against such a hopeless situation, David and Sophia say one last goodbye to each other.

  • I'll find you again.

  • im frozen, and you are dead, and I LOVE YOU, so much distance between them now, but he loves her, that should be enough for anybody.

  • thats the best movie i ever saw

  • Whats the title of the very last song....Desire?

  • chuck norris doesn't need tech support

  • 10:00-11:32 McCabe is so cool and funny. When the man asks him what his daughters names are..

  • this can and does happen.

  • This movie is terrible

  • @CampLo Wrong.

  • @mattjames2111 I'm pleased I learned so much about your movie tastes by clicking your profile and reading comments you have made. It seems we just have vastly differing opinions in movies of this genre. I stand by my comment, "Vanilla Sky is terrible."

  • @CampLo I don't post enough on Youtube for anyone to know my opinion on movies. I think the most I do is post on Jeremy Jahns reviews.

Please, feel free to go into detail as to why you dislike the film though. I'd love to hear it.

  • @mattjames2111 The comments you make are telling. For instance, you didn't like Inception, liked Source Code but didn't agree with the ending, and loved one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Anyway, since you're the first person with a brain to ask me to describe why I think it's terrible, I'll bite: music, Tom Cruise, dialogue, thin plot masquerading as "deep," and lack of concern for David because he's rich and arrogant. No room to describe any further, but those are the main points.

  • @CampLo I'm an indie and foreign films buff. Me commenting on a few blockbuster films, which aren't even close to my favorite, says nothing about my movie taste.

You didn't really say anything. What exactly is wrong with the music? The ambient sounds from Sigur Ros and Radiohead are perfect the movie. Tom Cruise hate, that's nothing new and I could have guessed that. Thin plot? You'll have to go into more detail. Unlikable characters don't make a bad film, just look at The Social Network

  • @mattjames2111 No, I couldn't have gone into more detail because YT limits the response. Look, I like those songs, the soundtrack is like what my playlist was back in HS, just not right for a movie

  • @mattjames2111 the songs were tacky and corny to me. It's not Tom Cruise hate, he's bad in this movie. He mails it in time to time and he did here. The plot/characters I'll need more space to discu

  • @CampLo amen.

  • @CampLo If you dont like it then why you see it?

    Otherwise the movie is awesome.

  • @symp007 Because I typically reserve my opinions on films until after I see them.

  • @CampLo Well whatever can you describe how its terrible?

  • I will see you in another life, when we are both cats....

  • 06:20 is that leonard from the big bang theory??? LOL

  • I have this on DVD but seem to be sat captivated by it on here a fair bit. Great extract of a truly wonderful, unique film. Thanks for the upload.

  • The best suicidal scene!

  • This reminds me of my ex....she really damaged me,only time will heal.....every secconf is another chance to turn it all around

  • @kklove1431 i had one of those,took me a long time to heal,bt relax,live life,it will heal in time......

  • it's the little things.

  • Oooh, hey, I just realized it's NOT a good idea to watch this scene after a fresh break-up. Tech supporrrrrt!.....

  • cryonics.org

  • COMPLETE tracklist now in the "show more" info section of this video, but, feel free to ask for anything!

    Thank you all, please enjoy..

  • Best damn movie!

  • Yea I'd agree Brian Shelby was a true friend. It's a good argument though. I think he just made a mistake after drinking a load of alcohol and probably didn't remember making the comment to cameron diaz. He was crazy about Sophia too, but he stepped aside for his friend, when clearly tom cruise did steal her from him, because she had been brian's date at his party..What a film though, best film ever..

  • Ladies and gentlemen we are floating into the space.

  • "Your friend Brian Shelby through a three day memorial in your home. He was a true friend." Ummmmm......wasn't the "true friend" the one responsible for his car wreck and subsequent disfigurement? After all his friend was the one who told Cameron Diaz that Tom Cruise said she was a "f*!@ buddy" which caused Cameron to go off the deep end, get him in her car and tried to kill him. Never understood that.

  • @Thehours1000 Yes, his friend did tell Cameron, but it was Tom Cruise's selfish actions + Cameron's insecure psyche that caused his death. That's why the tech support agent was reminding Tom of consequences. Shelby was a good friend because he was only being truthful about Tom using Cameron, and he still loved his friend despite Tom stealing his Penelope away from him.

  • this scene is so fucking happy. i cried. i am free!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is the story of my life.

  • What is the song at 6:20 :( ? Couldnt find it :(

  • @MegaTryer:

It's "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space" by Spiritualized. (one of my favorites and not included in the soundtrack CD) Enjoy

    watch?v=EOL1291ryKM

  • i hate when movies like this end

  • TECH SUPPORT!! Well what the hell happened? Open your eyes! Tommy It was she who somehow knew you best. and like you she never forgot that one night when true love seemed possible He was a true friend You were missed david CONSEQUENCES DAVID I want to live a real life, I don't want to dream any longer Let them out there read my mind I'm sorry Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around I'll find you again I'll see you in another life, when we are both cats
  • It makes me wanna cry when they're playing the music from To Kill a Mockingbird

  • At 13:48, as he gets ready to jump , Sophia leans forward a liitle like she has something to say, but pulls back quickly. That kills me everytime.

  • Somebody died..........it was me.

  • One of the most epic endings in movie history.

  • @BeBopDeluxe85

    Agree With you//

  • Comment removed

  • The song I like in this section is in the elevator called "Ladies and Gentleman we are floating in space" by Spiritualized.

  • @TheMasculinist "It was she who somehow knew you best... and like you she never forgot that one night when true love seemed possible"

  • @TheMasculinist oh my god!!! i cant thank you enough! ive been trying to figure out what this song was for so long! i swear ive looked at the soundtrack like ten times by now and never figured out what it was called

  • I cried for years every time I watched this final scene......can't explain it....

  • "This was a kind woman...an individual... more than your equal. You barely knew her in real life, but in your Lucid Dream...she was your savior." Always gets me.

  • This movie makes me depressed....everytime I watch it I fall in love with Penelope Cruz

  • I'd take sofia and benny the dog. :)

  • "Consequences David" - the two words that tear me apart.

  • Man, when that Sigur Ros song kicks in, I just become overwhelmed with emotion. What a fantastic film!

  • On this day in cinema history 10 years ago (12/14/01) Vanilla Sky was released. I invite you all to celebrate with me by watching it today

  • ... i will find you in another life.... wow, what a beautifull movie!

  • It's as if when we finally accept losing all that we are to be or have been, only then we are alive. To live in the moment and forget the pain. To live in the day and not hide from the night. To live life without regret even though we cannot gain the minutes back. We move on as natural order allows and accept the flow of this creation. To let go is the most difficult challenge of this life. Each day is a new day and your life is moving towards an unknown. Don't hesitate to accept this fate.

  • such an amazing movie

  • to the illiterati who keep asking... 'what's the name of _____ song', take a hint ALL OF THE SONGS FEATURED can be found directly to the right; you lazy fucks!

  • @trollercoaster17 you are right most of them are now on the right, wasn't always though, related videos are slowly built to the right according to users' selections after watching this clip. I have been in this place a million times myself and the uploader didn't even care to reply, so.. not me, no way. I should have included a full tracklist to the movie and I will, soon. cheers

  • 12:24 is what heaven looks like.

  • i seen this tonight for the first time, a very moving film..cant believe it took me so many years to watch this master piece.

  • life is meant to be lived no matter the pain, trouble, or difficulty. There is no substitute for reality no matter how much money or power you have, if you dont acknowledge it you can never truly live, life is never as sweet without the sour.

  • best two songs in this movie is spiritualized - ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space and the other is sigur ros - the nothing song

  • 10 years later and Vanilla Sky still captures you, it would have been a great TV series on Show Time or HBO. Thanks for uploading the whole ending without any splicing and shitty music..

  • Pretty much my favourite movie and the perfect ending. Impossible to say how much of an effect this had on me - its all perfect and different bits get me each time I watch but one thing that always stays with me is Penelopes look away from the camera at the wake. Painfully real.

  • TECH SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A beautiful, brilliant film that deftly and marvelously delves into the deepest realms of the human soul. One of my all-time favorite movies.

  • Wow, not a single dislike!

  • brilliant, finally a proper upload of the ending! what a classic

  • I have to concur with @TrinTrevellion. I showed a shorter clip to a friend of mine earlier. She didn't get the subtext of what I was trying to tell her. This is easily one of my top 3 favorite movies. And the ending makes it so brilliant. I really appreciated having this 15 minute clip because I always lose it when he says "You were missed."

  • Comment removed

  • At first I was kinda dissappointed it all was a dream, but then I realised it couldn't end any other way...

Oh, btw, can someone tell me when does the song "Where do I begin?" plays during the movie? I know it's part of the soundtrack, but I just saw the movie and didn't hear it anywhere!

  • The Best suicide scene! I

  • @AdamEugeneWillis14 ...Great song too!!!... it's "Ladies and Gentleman we are floating in Space" - Spiritualized

  • Cameron has a better execution than the original one.

If they had used a better, real actor, like Tom Hanks, this could be an oscar caliber movie.

  • "TECH SUPPORT!"

  • @kristiandwell Help me from this nightmare =[

  • one of my favorite movies ever

  • Btw. thank you for uploading the whole ending. Other uploads make it look like, it's just about suicide but there is so much more meaning to it. In fact, it's the opposite.

  • LOL @ all the questions about the music. Every song in this film is must known =)

  • great, now Di Caprio knows all of his secrets....

  • "... i want to live a real life... don't want to dream any longer...."

  • Wats the song right when he's walkin into the elevator

  • @asbloodrunsblack4208 Freur - Doot Doot.

  • What is the meaning when he says "consequences David..... it’s the little things"??

  • Doot Doot

  • JS....I will see you in another life...when we are both cats. I love you always.

  • Struggling with the emotions of this. Just had my "lucid dream" person for two weeks. A few nights of auspicious moments, things we felt and said that we'll never forget. Agony to let them go. I am forever changed now, but I have to live my life and move forward. I don't want to live in a dream forever......

  • What Is The Song Near The Ending

  • @ReelHardcoreGaming it's humm by betoko but its very hard to find. its not on youtube

  • I love this film, i also have a disfigured face and my life is a nightmare, you get treated totally different and lose opportunities to live the life you want i.e. the girl you want, friends, jobs.

I just wish it was all a dream.

  • @markdoncaster55 I wish you peace brother. I hope love finds you one day soon and your dream begins. I hope that the days forward are more beautiful than what you imagine possible, and I pray your world becomes filled with belief and possibility.

  • no matter how many times i see this movie it always makes me cry since the first time i saw it in Movie Theaters :') it sings to me

  • absolutely love this movie. I do have a question though.

It took 150 years of real time life to live 1 year in a lucid dream? For tech support said it was 150 years later.

  • WTF IS THE SONG AT 1:04 sec!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DatBushwickSkaterDud You 're right, not a very easy find either, it's "Fleur - Doot Doot"

    /watch?v=6pnQfPOFNLI

  • I´m living my lucid dream with someone who has another relatonship...but anyway, i will see him when we were both cats

  • THIS MOVIE REALLY MAKES ME THINK A LOT.

  • What song is playing at the very begining!!?

  • @instantgrill1 It 's the Beach Boys - Good Vibrations :-)

  • @instantgrill1 the song in fiom segur ros , not remember the songns name buy is great

  • doot doot

  • anyone know the song that began at 6:13 ? during his memorial? where sophia showed up

  • @rkeeyengv Hello, it is "Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space".

  • @rkeeyengv Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space by Spiritualized

  • Gets me every time. Incredible film. I can't think of another scene in a film that captures everything this does so achingly wonderful.

  • A brilliant film, I'm very glad to have watced it..makes you think.

  • I think at the last second he wakes up the day before getting into that car... least that's what I hope to be the ending.....it's alot less sad

  • One of the few remakes that is better than the original.

  • what is the song at 6:07

  • I'm glad the director decided not to take the World Trade Center out from the back ground. I always love this scene.

  • consequences!

  • There are only a few films that capture the true nature of life, in all of its intricate splendor. Mark my words, Southland Tales, What Dreams May Come, I'm Not There and Vanilla Sky, will be studied 50 years from now in film classes, because they capture that nature and embody every aspect with immeasurable grace.

  • @3Hits4Felix Include The Sopranos and your list is complete ;)

  • @3Hits4Felix Not too sure about Southland Tales, or What Dreams May Come (haven't seen either). This however isn't all that perfect (I blame it for the brainwashing of the great actor Jason Lee) it's the ending however that I'll be talking for years to come. Last time I saw it was when it was first released on DVD and that ending is the biggest part of my memory of this film. So the best thing I can say is that it's truly and utterly incredibly beautiful, but ultimately very sad I even cried.

  • @xPSYKOxLIBBYx i see what you mean, but if nothing else, I'm Not There is for sure a film that hits you on all levels and remains unflinching against predictability and obviousness.

  • so sad how could u live when u wake up :(?

  • Abre los ojos all life.

  • Elevator beat by Nancy Wilson !!! Is name of song while he realizes he was the one that died

  • one of the best movies ever - makes life feel just like they want it to......meaningful until your gone and u dont realize it.

  • Pause at 9:50 and look in the upper background and you will see the Twin Towers.

  • A great film!!!

  • Comment removed

  • What a movie woulint it great to just sleep for a 150 years and wake up to a ne begining please.

  • whats the song at 13:53 could someone please tell me

  • @TheSmilyInc

    njosnavelin-by Sigur Ros

  • @TheSmilyInc

the name of the song is called "The Nothing Song" by Sigur Ros and the song starts playing when David tells them to read his mind for his last wish

  • I am in tears.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. The "Spiritualized" song is my favorite part.

  • my favorite movie of all time.

  • Excuse me, but what is the name of the song that starts at 3:53. I been looking for it as crazy. Love that guitar. Thanks!

  • "consequences david" gives me chills everytime

  • How come everyone through out the movie kept telling him: "What is happiness to you David?" Is there like a meaning behind this?

  • @PeircedinBlood i think that the real meaning of those words are "what is worth living for you david?" so yeah i think they are saying something like that to david all the time to see what he really thinks about his life and all that sorrounds him :) but again this is just what i think of the meaning behind those beautiful words

  • i wish their was a real "life extension"..

  • Damn! I thought "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space" was beautifully sad/happy on its own! ;(

  • Whats the song at 5:02?

  • I think this movie ending equals the Shawshank Redemption, though obviously, the movies are in different categories.

These are the only two movie endings where i was absolutely transfixed and didn't want it to end. Most movies, i spend the last ten minutes thinking about what i'll do when it finishes

  • I want to add also that this is one of the best movie endings I have ever seen. Very touching. Never has a movie moved me as this one.

  • Finally someone uploads more then 2 minutes of the final scene. Very under rated movie. Truly a great film in every sense. This movie makes you think about life and all the things in it.

  • Kurt Russell delivers the best - and scariest! - line in the movie: "I'm real. I'm...I'm...mortality as home entertainment? This CANNOT be the future! Can it? CAN IT?"

  • I felt in love with a girl. She was the first I've ever loved and she told me that we could be friends, thats all. Since then (19th December 2009) nothing is like before. I really love her but we stopped talking to each other. I didnt want us to be just friends. Not anymore. I'd really want someone to sell my Lucid Dream. I know it's impossible but this movie really touched me. I am the one who never fully recovered and Ill never forget that night where truly love seemed possible. :<

  • I find the film to be a metaphor for self exceptance of love / loss, life / pain . It is so easy for us to numb our pain, and so very hard to except reality sometimes. But no amount of holding on to the best parts of our past losses will make us happy. Only when we move forward can we achieve that. Every passing minute, is another chance to turn it all around.

  • I want to live a real life... I don't want to dream any longer.
