  • I can't even watch the video without my balls quivering in fear.

  • i dont even understand how they got there!!!

  • well the route is void because you put tension on your line. This will not count as a real Send.

  • I climbed El Capitan after 2.5 years of training. We did the Triple Direct.

It is not that crazy, you just have to want it really really bad.

  • @thatoneguysmells That's why you aren't one of us :) haha kidding. Keeping a cool head is of paramount importance on anything above a (aus. grade) 24 I reckon :P just my opinion.

  • that was sick

  • god I hate traversing...

  • guaaapo

  • I would be scared if i was that high im scared of heights, can't go any further then 10-15 feet lol but yeah nice video 5 stars *****

  • Tommy Caldwell free climbed it twice in one day in "dosage 4".

  • bravo

  • The great roof has only been freeclimbed by Lynn Hill and methinks one other dude. The GR is AIDed 99.9999 percent of the time. So even if you've been climbing for 20 years; chances are you ain't gonna free it. The best climbers in the world ain't freeing it.

  • tommy caldwell and his wife beth rodden did it.. I'm pretty sure there were others

  • I stand corrected. Thanks for the 'heads up'. Climb on!!

  • Excuse my ignorance or is it a typo ? whats does Alded mean ?

  • he means AID climbing as in aid. It means to climb using devices as artificial hand and footholds. Free climbing means climbing with out devices, only using a rope to catch yourself and the natural rock formation for hand and footholds.

  • quhawks48

atleast 3 ppl have freeclimbed nose after lynn hill.

tommy caldwell free climbed the nose and the freeride in one day both are on el capitan making him first to climb two elcapitan routes in day

it took 4 days for lynn at shes first freeclimb and second time she climbed it in 23hours tommy did it in 11h

  • wow

  • you guys rock. total courage and skill.i dont know how they do it?

  • Oh, that's easy -- you just need to be born with your balls made out of steel, and then keep training 8 hours/day for, like, 10 years, LOL

I'm an amateur climber myself, but El Capitan is waaaaaay over my range...

  • Depends on your ability. If you free them then yes it could take 10 years plus to free them . But if you had a guide and aided them then maybe three years climbing. These routes were first aided and still are aided lots. Very few peeps free these routes. So to me aid climbing is scary but clearly not as hard as freeing these lines.

  • @pg1978k

Train 8 hours a day for 10 years. You must really be a shit fucking climber.

  • there nuts simple. Actually big wall climbing takes more patience then anything. Lots of people AID these routes even thou they have been freed in the last decades. Three years solid climbing will get to to second most of these runs if you aid them. With no Aid your looking at anywhere between 3 to 10 years climbing to free these lines.
