I was a manager promoter until recently.. It's all about the drugs, and the handlers losing control..
Navarro always let his drugs screw things up.. Including the black shit he thinks looks good in their facial hair and eyebrows.. What a tool.. I remember him crying backstage about what a victim he was, then raging at us about the shade of makeup we bought him for his eyebrows.. Ha ha, what a prima donna dork!
@ChrissyMontagne This statement couldn't be more wrong..... Avery was totally the cohesive force (a good bassist always is) and his playing style is what made the band so great, personal conflicts aside. This should be freakin' obvious, jeeze.
Chris Channey's bass lines were compatent but boring, alot of low end and muddy. Eric Avery bass parts were good and they added flavor to the songs, alot of mid range and high end in his playing. two differnt bass players and Avery was way better.
The first 3 JA albums were great. Everything after that was pretty watered down and kinda sucked. Hopefully the 4 guys will have the chemistry that made them great in the first place. Not drugs I hope.
dont take this wrong, I love JA, but this says "can we make more money rehashing". Face it bros, JA is over, and we're all 15+ years older, cant change that
fuck, i like them all, but nothing shocking i think is the most amplified album for them. all of them are great i want them to release the rest of the shit. janes addiction were out of their time, they were real about what they expressed. I think thats why they have still not received the respect they need as a band
I mean ..come on fellas. We were all lucky this band even ever happened..Right? Most GREAT bands have at least 15-20 albums.Genius does not happen too often..Just ask Brian Wilson. He did alright...Right!?!
strays was a mainstream rock record, it was solid but not anywhere near "Ritual" or "Nothings Shocking". no long epics like "Ted, just admit it" or "Three Days"
Thanks for posting this clip!I could not find any recent press or anything about why they split this time . I must say that Strays was not all great in my opinion .Porno for Pyros ? I would love another album by them ,Gods Good Urge is genius. Its still sounds so fresh
thats a good idea but one of the main reasons why Jane's broke up was because Eric couldn't stand Perry. Thats like asking David Gilmour and Roger Waters to reunite - ain't gonna happen
you have a point! even though gilmour was very reluctant about it, it was for a good cause. i meant reunite as in, getting back together in a long term sense
Flea, if anybody, was a reasonable replacement for Eric A. Flea is obviously one of the best bassist in music history, but for Janes? that's Eric A all the way. i was at 3 original Janes shows, all in 91 the Ritz NYC, Lolla first tour summer 91 and 91 end tour with Happy Mondays at MSG. All i can say is...life changing. Then followed Porno saw them at roseland, NYC in 92...misses Relapse die to incarceration. will catch them but like someone else said...expect it to happen?
Eric or nothing. Seriously, it's like John Stanier and Helmet, you don't realise just how vital they are until they are gone. Polar Bear was a great band, minus a drummer - the drum machine ruined that band for me -
Strays was solid but it wasn't "Nothing's Shocking" or "Ritual". I never realized how important Eric was until he was gone. If Eric A. was going to rejoin then it might have a chance.
I agree with the suggestion to play smaller venues. I saw them near the (first) end at Lolla' 1991 (Blossom near Cleveland) and they were unbelievable. They were out of control, angry, very much worth watching. Can't get that back, so let's get them small.
Self titled 1st album was actually a live recording, hence they have only produced 3 studio albums and 1 live album. Just as the presenter said at the beginning of the clip!
plz no more crap. the 1st 2 albums where good and nothing more. i guess there side projects are a waist of time and think JA new one is gonna be also. let it go JA
I truly hope they get back together again, but this time I hope they do it right. Forget the arena tours and play more of a cozy setting.
Let's face it 90%, of the crowd will be TRUE Janes fans anyway. The fan base is older now with kids. Play your deep cuts, and play some of your heavy tunes acoustic.
I hope Perk can pull this off and get these guys back together one last time.
you gotta find the right mix of talent and personality. ja had it and they blew it. plain and simple.

Avery was NEVER the cohesive force a top bassist should be..
They need to do more with the lyrics- like what trent did- make them culturally relevant even if you have

@ChrissyMontagne Listen to their music. Avery was the backbone. If not, then why didn't they go on without him. Their songs were all bass driven.

Yes, they're back. Saw 'em at the Sasquatch Fest. 5-25-09 in George, WA. on the NIN/JA tour. They were great but I gotta say NIN kicked JA's ass.

They would need to get Eric Avery back. He was the driving force for all the decent Jane's songs.

"possible drug related issues" ha! you think?!? Plus they'd stopped writing songs together by 88, and had nothing left after Ritual.

The real reason they broke up was managemant and lawyers and money. Ask perry about Ron Laffite, get you f**king piss cup out of my f**king face...

then if thats the case and it was to do with lawyers then why after the last split up did the other 3 say they cant work with prerrys ego again

if they do tour, the ideal situation would be:
No new album
No press/tv/interviews
Just a 2 month tour of 2-5,000 seat theatres
...and bring back Eric Avery!
otherwise, I don't know how well this would go.
